30: The Voice Inside the Machine
Kai could not move. The government machine loomed before him, its enormous body wrapped in smoke and broken concrete, but none of that mattered anymore. Kai woke with his heart pounding. The image from the Spiritual Realm refused to leave his mind, stubborn and vivid. His master, young. Shen Tian, standing beside him. Rain washed the blood from the hospital pavement, but it could not wash away the question that had followed Kai out into the night. Why had Shen Tian disappeared?
