Cristian thought he was hearing things. Did Fenrir, the wolf summon who had been by his side for many years, say it was actually the Fenrir of the apocalypse? No, he had to be hearing things. It was impossible. That Fenrir was just a myth that had been passed down for generations. There had never been real proof that the wolf existed.

[What insolence. I’m right here.]

You really want me to believe that you’re the great beast of the end? Do you know how ridiculous it sounds?” Cristian said as he stared into the wolf’s eyes.

[Who else could send you back in time to live life again? Tell me. What other beast has that kind of power?]

He opened his mouth to answer, but no words escaped his lips because Fenrir was right. If not the beast of legends, what beast could have the power to give Cristian a second chance?

Even so, it was hard to believe that he of all people could summon such a legendary beast. People throughout history have summoned all manner of beasts, from sea serpents to dragons. However, Fenrir was in a completely different class of its own. Despite having never been summoned before, there were all kinds of stories about the legendary wolf. Very few beasts could compare to him, and they have also never been summoned.

Fenrir suddenly pressed a paw to his forehead, distracting him from his thoughts. The wolf gave what it probably thought was a ferocious glare, which only looked like a cute grumpy expression.

[Don’t look down on yourself. You managed to summon me, which proves you are a class above the other humans. If you can’t see any of your good qualities, what does that make me?]

The wolf was right. Even if he had doubts, the fact that Fenrir was there meant he had the qualifications to be the wolf’s partner.

I still can’t believe you’re the real Fenrir. What were the chances I named you correctly?” Cristian said, thinking about the day he named Fenrir.

Truthfully, he only named the wolf Fenrir because he wanted to prove himself to everyone who looked down on him. With such a powerful name, he had hoped to show that they were wrong about Fenrir being a weak summon. Ironically, it turned out that Fenrir was possibly the most powerful summon in history.

[I admit I would have been furious if you dared to name me Snowy or Furball.]

Yeah, there’s no way I would name anything like that,” he said.

[In any case, what are your plans now?]

Cristian grimaced at the reminder. “I’ve been officially kicked out of the house, so I only have what’s on me.”

Even then, it was actually less than that. By now, his family must have cut him off from everything like the phone plan, bank accounts, and several other things. He literally had no money to his name or anything of monetary worth. If he wanted to prepare and survive the apocalypse, he would need to find a way to make money fast. Unfortunately, there were only shady options, and even those were limited. His reputation for summoning a useless beast would have spread by now.

Fenrir growled, and he quickly placated the wolf. “I know you’re not useless, but no one else knows, and we’re keeping it that way.”

[I’m surprised you didn’t try to leverage the fact that I’m Fenrir.]

I’m not dumb. Maybe if it was my past self, I would have done that, but it would only do me more harm than good,” he said.

In the past, it would have been slightly easier to say the wolf was Fenrir given his appearance. Everyone knew the Fenrir from the myth was a giant white wolf, but Fenrir hadn’t shown any abilities that made him different from an ordinary wolf. Besides, no one would automatically think the wolf was really Fenrir. Now that Fenrir was stuck as a small wolf, no one would believe the claim. They would think he was crazy. Even if someone did, they would take advantage of the fact that Fenrir had been weakened. It just wasn’t worth it to tell anyone. At least not at the moment.

[You have a point. The other humans would most likely want to kill you when they realize the apocalypse will start in a week because of me.]

He froze. “Excuse me?”

Fenrir stared innocently at him like it hadn’t just dropped critical information. What did the wolf mean the apocalypse was starting because of it?

Trying to keep his voice calm, Cristian said, “Fenrir, please explain.”

[Have you forgotten I’m the great beast of the end? My existence basically means the coming of the apocalypse. My arrival here is the reason why the apocalypse is starting in a week.]

Cristian stared at Fenrir for several moments before he couldn’t take it anymore and placed the wolf down on the ground. Then he proceeded to pace back and forth while rubbing his hands against his cheeks.

This can’t be happening. This can’t be happening. I can’t be the reason the apocalypse is happening,” he muttered to himself.

However, no matter how hard he tried to deceive himself, the apocalypse was undoubtedly his fault. If he hadn’t summoned Fenrir, the apocalypse would never happen. He literally caused the end of the world.

[I think you’re giving yourself too much credit. While it’s true that the apocalypse is starting early because you summoned me, it would have happened eventually. A couple years down the line, the apocalypse would have started anyway.]

He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to feel better after hearing that and decided that it was best he didn’t think about it at all. In fact, he was going to pretend he didn’t hear any of it and act like the apocalypse had nothing to do with him.

Bending down in front of Fenrir, he said, “I know you said that you have become weakened after sending me into the past, but is there anything you can do to help me now?”

  • Chapter 49: Heading to a New Place

Cristian led the unsuspecting group to the house that he and Miranda had agreed upon to use if the situation called for it. Even though he couldn’t see her, he knew that she was making sure to keep them within her vision and ready to act at a moment’s notice if she thought something was off.Once they arrived at the house, he stopped and said, “Can you wait out here? It’ll just be a moment.”“Just be quick. I think another blizzard will hit in a couple hours, and we want to leave as soon as possible,” Oscar said. How did he know that? From what Cristian had observed, none of the beasts had any power related to the weather. The closest would be the bull with its air manipulation, but that was a bit iffy. Maybe they had equipment to monitor the weather so they could be prepared for any possible changes. That made a lot more sense. He stepped into the house and closed the door behind him. Now that he was no longer within their vision, he could grab whatever he needed from the dimensional

  • Chapter 48: Speaking With the Newcomers

As Cristian and Oscar let go of each other’s hands, the others approached slowly, no longer looking at him like he was a threat, which was exactly what Cristian wanted. Of course there was still the possibility that they did view him as a possible threat and were only acting otherwise. He would just have to solidify in their minds that he meant them no harm unless they did.“So how did you survive for this long?” Tripp asked nonchalantly as he folded his hands behind his head.Despite his laidback attitude, Cristian could tell that Tripp was probing him and could even see the accessing look in his eyes. It makes sense. Given how many years since the apocalypse started, it would be strange that someone with the weakest beast could survive so long unless he did some unsavory things. While it was true that he had done some questionable things like murder and torture, that was before that apocalypse. Since the apocalypse started, Cristian hadn't actually killed anyone unless not helping p

  • Chapter 47: Meeting New People

Neither of them ended up winning the bet. The group ended up staying for a full week much to their surprise. It seemed that this group was determined to stick around no matter what. For what purpose Cristian and Miranda couldn’t decipher. There didn’t appear to be any obvious reason they would stick around. The group simply searched through the entire town. Sometimes they would stop to thoroughly investigate one place while other times they would skip large sections of the town. It seemed completely random, but Cristian couldn’t shake the feeling that there was a method to their madness. There had to be something they were missing. He just couldn’t see it, but if they met with them, perhaps he would discover it.“Are you sure you want to speak with them?” Miranda asked hesitantly as they prepared to leave the house.Cristian gave her a bemused smile and asked, “What’s wrong? Getting cold feet?”“It’s not that. You were against meeting them before,” she pointed out.“Yes, but we’ve bee

  • Chapter 46: Observing the Visitors

Cristian and Miranda quietly observed the newcomers from the safety of the house through Lupa. Thanks to the wolf’s abilities, they can peek through the shadows to spy on the people, though it expended a lot of energy on Lupa’s part. After this, the wolf would need time to recuperate and regain its energy, which was why they avoided relying on Lupa’s ability. He bemoaned the fact that the security cameras he had stashed in the dimensional space were useless in the apocalypse. Without a decent powerhouse and environment, they were practically dead weight. Those that needed electricity couldn’t be used with the power down. Those with batteries needed constant changing, which was inconvenient. As for those that relied on the sun, the weather was cloudy more often than not.“They’ll be reaching our area soon,” Miranda commented with a serious expression. She hadn’t needed to tell him that, as he also recognized the place they were walking through, but it was comforting to have a partner t

  • Chapter 45: New Arrivals

Cristian climbed up the ruins of the castle to peer beyond the boundaries of the town walls, looking for any signs of life. This time Miranda and Lupa hadn’t joined him and Fenrir on this trip, choosing to stay back at the house to check it over to make sure things were working properly. She made sure to check daily to ensure nothing escaped her notice, but today she had been particularly worried.Miranda had claimed that she thought something was wrong with the plumbing and was going to spend the whole day inspecting it. Considering how many years it had been, Cristian thought it was prudent and left it to her, which meant going alone.[Why do you insist on patrolling every day? There haven’t been signs of anything for some time.]“It’s because there aren’t any signs that I’m worried,” Cristian said, squinting. Before, they would only do a quick perimeter check every day and a serious check once a week. He and Miranda had discussed at length how often they should patrol and had settl

  • Chapter 44: Years Later

The cold wind blew past Cristian and Miranda, causing their hair and clothes to rustle as they stared out of the landscape. It had been a few years since they had bunkered down in her home and enjoyed the peace that came with it.Unlike his previous life, he didn’t have to constantly go out to search for supplies or seek out a new place to stay when the place he was staying at was compromised. Inside the house, it was almost like the apocalypse didn’t exist if it weren’t the sounds of monsters they occasionally heard outside. He never thought he would be able to experience such a life after everything he had been through.[Are you done? How long do all of you intend to stay out in the cold?]Hearing such an absurd question, Cristian chuckled and asked, “Aren’t you a wolf? Why would the cold bother you?”[Just because the cold doesn’t affect me doesn’t mean I don’t find the wind annoying.]Seeing the amused look on Cristian’s face, Miranda asked, “What did Fenrir say?”“Apparently, eve
