The Sword Pendant

“Lucan?” Elena called her student again, bringing Lucan out of his thoughts. “Do you mind?”

Elena’s face looked serious, making Lucan unable to avoid it if he did not want to arouse her suspicion.

“No, Master,” Lucan replied as he extended his hand and allowed Elena to examine his Mana pathways.

Elena closed her eyes, then placed two fingers on the pulse of Lucan’s wrist, examining the flow of the man’s energy.

The next second, Elena was startled when she felt the smooth flow of Mana energy throughout Lucan’s body.

Elena’s eyes opened quickly. “You managed to clear the blockage in your veins?!” she asked in surprise. “Not only that, you have already reached first-level basic Mage level?!”

This was a miracle.

Since Lucan was still a baby, Elena had already known that the young man’s Mana pathways were blocked. Even so, Elena still insisted on bringing him to the Academy with the hope that high-quality potions could cure Lucan. Unfortunately, until the last time … every method they tried had always failed.

The false hope Elena had given when taking Lucan as a student made the woman always feel guilty toward the young man. That was one of the reasons why Elena was so attentive toward Lucan.

However, now Lucan had managed to smooth the flow of Mana in his veins!

Elena looked at Lucan in amazement. “What actually happened while you were on Mount Mistveil?”

Elena’s reaction made Lucan think, ‘She is already surprised by something like this, what would happen if she knew my actual magic level.’

To avoid Elena’s suspicion regarding his identity, Lucan hid his actual level as a sixth-level basic Mage.

Lucan smiled faintly. “I was lucky enough to obtain a relic after falling into the river,” he answered.

Elena’s beautiful face looked curious, and she pressed Lucan to tell her more.

“As Senior Victor said, I went to Mount Mistveil to look for Scarlet Herb. Unfortunately, I lost the monster-repellent pouch given by my senior. The beast spirit chased me until I was cornered at the cliff.” Lucan closed his eyes, showing an expression of difficulty. “I thought I would die at that time, but the relic in the river saved my life.”

‘A relic?’ Elena’s two eyebrows almost joined together in confusion. Since they met on the mountain, Elena had not once seen Lucan carrying anything other than his body and tattered clothes.

“What relic?” Elena finally asked.

Lucan took a necklace from inside his clothes, a sword-shaped pendant hanging in the middle of it. He then held it out toward Elena.

“When I fell into the river, I saw this relic in the water. Its bright light made the beast spirit run away.”

Elena took the necklace Lucan handed to her. Meanwhile, Lucan simply watched without giving any further explanation.

Of course he was lying, it was all an invented story.

When he woke up, Lucan could sense the existence of the sword at the bottom of the river. He recognized the sword because it was his weapon, which he had used when fighting Logan at that time.

The sword should have disappeared. However, somehow the sword had ended up embedded in the riverbed of Mount Mistveil.

‘It seems a fragment of my soul entered the sword,’ Lucan thought. ‘That is why when Lucan’s blood flowed onto the sword, my soul automatically entered his body.’

Although Lucan more or less understood why he could end up in Lucan’s body, Lucan still did not understand how his sword could be found near White Dove Academy.

Could it be … that White Dove Academy actually originated from the Order of Rosethorn thousands of years ago?

Putting aside his confusion, Lucan tried to avoid unnecessary attention by reducing the size of the sword and turning it into a pendant with his magic.

A sword-shaped pendant did not attract the attention of the other students. The masters and elders would also have no interest in finding out.

“You are lucky to have obtained a rare and highly valuable relic like this. If the magical energy in your body is high enough, this miniature sword can transform into a real sword.”

Elena’s words made Lucan stunned, apparently the woman was quite perceptive as well.

“Keep it safe. Don’t let anyone else know about it and then intend to maliciously seize this relic from your hands,” Elena emphasized as she returned the necklace to her student’s hand.

Lucan accepted the necklace. He was still stunned by the sincere concern he received from Elena.

“Lucan, is it true that you were injured because of your own negligence?” Elena asked gently, but her gaze demanded the truth.

Elena was not unaware that Lucan had been bullied by other students all this time because of the excessive attention she gave the young man. However, caring for Lucan was the main reason Elena had been able to survive during her difficult times in the past.

Being asked to tell the truth, Lucan put on a serious expression and began to speak, “Actually ....”

Elsewhere

“Senior Victor, I’m afraid Lucan will report what we did to Master Elena.”

“You think I’m not afraid?!” Victor snapped.

The three of them waited anxiously in the garden. Victor had even been pacing back and forth all this time because he could not sit still.

“Victor, Master Elena is calling you.” Gideon patted Victor’s shoulder from behind. Making the student jump in shock because he thought he was being attacked suddenly.

Victor almost cursed Gideon, but he managed to close his mouth in time. Gideon was Elena’s eldest student, provoking trouble with him was not a wise action.

Gideon’s face looked gloomy, he was not smiling as usual when they met.

Victor exchanged glances with his friends. They swallowed with difficulty.

Their fate was sealed. Lucan must have reported what they had done!
