Victor walked hesitantly, as did his two friends following behind him. Their usually long strides were now deliberately slowed down to stall for time.
“What are you doing? Master Elena has been waiting for a while,” Gideon reprimanded impatiently. He had already walked ahead to lead the group, but was forced to turn back again because Victor and his friends had yet to appear.
“I’m not sure this is a good idea. Master Elena is still exhausted. Maybe this meeting can be postponed so she can rest first,” Victor replied.
“What Senior Victor said is true. It would be better for Master Elena to rest first,” one of his followers chimed in.
Gideon narrowed his eyes, observing Victor who stood anxiously. Especially when Victor used his sleeve to wipe the sweat from his forehead.
“What are you actually afraid of, Victor? I’ve noticed that you’ve been acting very anxious, as if you’ve just made a serious mistake.” Gideon walked closer to observe Victor’s eyes more clearly.
Victor brushed his hand away nervously. “What do you mean by making a serious mistake? I just don’t want Master Elena to become exhausted. Is that too much?”
After speaking, he hurried toward the place where Elena was waiting for him. Although afraid, Victor preferred to face Elena directly rather than endure Gideon’s sarcasm.
Victor stopped for a moment in front of the door. His hand once again wiped away the sweat flowing down his forehead. His heart pounded as he imagined the anger he would receive.
“Master Elena, this disciple asks permission to enter,” he requested. Victor no longer paid attention to Gideon and his two friends who were left behind.
The door opened wide, Lucan having opened it according to Elena’s order. Victor glanced at Lucan, feeling his sharp gaze that sent shivers through him before the young man lowered his head again.
The young man moved aside, giving Victor room to approach their master. Meanwhile, Elena continued looking at Victor, who was once again overcome by nervousness.
Victor swallowed once more before shifting his gaze forward. Elena had been waiting for him with a gloomy expression, as if ready to give him a heavy punishment.
When Elena’s lips parted–
THUD!
“This disciple admits his mistake to Master Elena!” Victor shocked them by suddenly kneeling before Elena.
Elena was stunned, her eyes briefly widening before returning to normal. A smile played on her pink lips.
“Do you think this apology of yours is enough?” Elena asked without telling Victor to stand first.
“This disciple does not understand what Master means.” Victor still lowered his head. Secretly, his heart trembled in fear. ‘Oh God, does Master Elena intend to expel me?!’
“Victor, don’t you already understand what your mistake is?”
There was no emotional turmoil in any of Elena’s words. However, Victor shuddered in horror upon hearing them. Master Elena’s voice sounded gentler whenever she was extremely angry.
“M-Master–”
“Enough,” Elena interrupted. “Whatever happened, after this you must go to the Founder’s Altar to reflect on your mistake.” Elena ordered Victor to stand immediately. “Your apology will not reduce the duration of your kneeling punishment.”
Hearing his master’s words, Victor frowned and raised his head to look at Elena. “Master … you’re not expelling me?” he asked with a foolish expression.
Elena blinked, confused. “Why would I give you such a severe punishment? The accident that happened to Lucan was not intentional, but an accident.” The woman asked back before finally narrowing her eyes. “Did you … make another mistake?”
Victor immediately shook his head rapidly. “No! No! This disciple did not make any other mistakes!” he quickly added.
Secretly, Victor glanced at Lucan, who was staring at him expressionlessly. He thought that the rotten brat had exposed what had really happened to Elena. It turned out he was wrong.
‘Hehe, it seems that even though his face has changed, his cowardly and foolish nature is still the same,’ Victor cursed inwardly, convinced that Lucan had not reported him because he was afraid of getting into trouble.
Meanwhile, Elena was seen observing Lucan. Then, she said, “Starting today,” she stumbled, “I mean, for the next three days after you finish your punishment,” the woman corrected herself, “you will be fully responsible for Lucan.”
Victor was startled upon hearing that. He immediately looked at Elena with disbelief.
“Master Elena, I don’t understand.” Victor’s face showed confusion and unwillingness as he repeated, “Fully responsible … for Lucan?”
He, Victor, the third strongest disciple of Elena’s Sanctuaria, would become fully responsible for a disciple who had not even managed to break through the first level of basic magic?!

Fry, the Fried Chicken
Lucan did not know how it happened. Perhaps the contract occurred when the little chicken fell onto his face. However, the contract was clearly a one-sided contract that Lucan had not agreed to, and this showed that the little chicken had devoted itself to him. With a one-sided contract, whatever happened to the little chicken would have no effect on Lucan. It was different from a contracted familiar with the consent of both parties. If the familiar was injured, then its master would also be injured. And vice versa. However, putting that fact aside, Lucan still did not want it. After all, the little chicken was so talkative and could not stop chirping!“You’re happy, aren’t you? Not everyone can be as lucky as you! I–”Unfortunately, no matter how much Lucan did not want it, he had no choice. Even after repeatedly driving the little chicken away, the annoying creature refused to leave and continued following him. From that moment on, Lucan’s days no longer felt peaceful because of the

“Why didn’t you expose Victor’s wickedness?” An unfamiliar voice called out from behind Lucan.Lucan’s shoulders tensed. His eyes became alert as he turned around.WHOOSH!Three silver needle blades shot rapidly from Lucan’s fingers. Straight toward the source of the mysterious voice that had startled him.CLACK! CLACK! CLACK!“Ah!”Following the sound of the needles that embedded perfectly into the wooden wall of the room, a child’s scream could be heard.Lucan stared at the silver needles that had struck the wall precisely. Their blades were still trembling because of the force of the man’s movement.Directly beneath the three needles was a yellow creature that was half-crouching while observing the weapon that had almost taken its life. The chick-like creature trembled in fear, even its beak shaking. With watery eyes, showing that it was on the verge of tears, the creature looked at Lucan with a pitiful expression.“C-cruel! Cruel human!” It took several steps forward, avoiding the
Lucan’s Plan
Not much different from Gideon, who was extremely confused, Elena’s smooth forehead also furrowed because the answer sounded strange to her. As far as she remembered, the boy did not like Victor very much in the past, and often even avoided contact with him.Her chin was raised somewhat high as she observed Lucan. Her movement was somewhat awkward because before cultivating, Elena had always been more accustomed to lowering her head when speaking with her disciple.“Lucan,” she called softly. “If you want to ask to be accompanied by another disciple, just tell me. I will immediately replace him with a disciple you prefer more.”Lucan’s black eyes met Elena’s gaze with a firmness the woman had never seen before. Elena’s heart trembled because of the sharpness in Lucan’s gaze.“There is no need, Master Elena. I am already quite satisfied with Senior Victor.” Lucan respectfully bowed to Elena to express his deep gratitude.Elena sighed inwardly. Even though Lucan had repeatedly stated th
Lucan’s Request
“Fully responsible … for Lucan?” An awkward laugh escaped Victor’s mouth to conceal his anger. “Why?”Elena did not laugh along. Her almond-shaped eyes met Victor’s gaze sharply. “As the third strongest disciple and at the same time the guide for the first-level disciples, naturally you are the most suitable person to accompany Lucan in his magical training.”“B-but Lucan hasn’t even reached first-level Mage, Master Elena! He will only have difficulty when he joins the other disciples.”It sounded concerned, but what Victor actually meant was … he was unwilling to take on a burden like Lucan! At this moment, Elena smiled. “Don’t worry, Lucan has already managed to clear his Mana pathways. In three days, he will be able to train with the other disciples.”Victor’s mouth opened again, agape at his master’s statement. ‘The idiot cleared his Mana pathways?’ He glanced at Lucan with an incredulous expression. ‘How is that possible?!’Before Victor could object to her words again, Elena spo

“Lucan?” Elena called her student again, bringing Lucan out of his thoughts. “Do you mind?”Elena’s face looked serious, making Lucan unable to avoid it if he did not want to arouse her suspicion.“No, Master,” Lucan replied as he extended his hand and allowed Elena to examine his Mana pathways.Elena closed her eyes, then placed two fingers on the pulse of Lucan’s wrist, examining the flow of the man’s energy. The next second, Elena was startled when she felt the smooth flow of Mana energy throughout Lucan’s body.Elena’s eyes opened quickly. “You managed to clear the blockage in your veins?!” she asked in surprise. “Not only that, you have already reached first-level basic Mage level?!”This was a miracle.Since Lucan was still a baby, Elena had already known that the young man’s Mana pathways were blocked. Even so, Elena still insisted on bringing him to the Academy with the hope that high-quality potions could cure Lucan. Unfortunately, until the last time … every method they trie
