“Senior Victor told me to.”
Lucan’s answer made Elena’s expression instantly turn dark. She immediately turned toward Victor and asked,
“What does this mean, Victor?” she asked. “Why was Lucan moved to the storage room?!”
Victor’s heart pounded rapidly, his face pale. His mind spun quickly to come up with the right explanation. However, he could not answer!
All the students stared at Victor in silence. They knew that Lucan’s words were true, but they did not dare interfere because Victor was the third most talented student after Elena’s two accompanying students who knew nothing.
“Ah, sorry, Master. It seems I misspoke.” Lucan suddenly spoke up, diverting everyone’s attention. He then massaged his head slightly and put on a dizzy expression. “I meant that Senior Victor moved to live in the storage room and gave his room to me because he said the storage area had a purer concentration of Mana.”
Lucan’s words made Victor and his friends stare in shock.
A whisper was heard. “Senior Victor gave his room to Lucan? When?!”
“Is that so?” Elena furrowed her brow while looking suspiciously at Victor.
As the master who had cared for these children since they were young, Elena knew the nature of each of her students. As for Victor, he did tend to be arrogant and ambitious. However, because his parents were wealthy merchants, Victor was accustomed to living comfortably.
Then, was it possible that the young man had chosen to live in the storage room instead of his own room?
“Is that true, Victor?” Elena asked again.
Elena’s reprimand made Victor, whose anger had already begun to boil, immediately control himself so that his master would no longer be suspicious. The corner of Victor’s lips lifted, showing the smile that had long been known to be charming.
“My junior fellow disciple is right, Master. I … have indeed been living in the storage room for some time.”
The hand Victor hid inside his long sleeve trembled, showing how angry he was. His two hands gripped each other so tightly that they were injured by his efforts to restrain his anger.
He glanced at Lucan, who stood with a clear expression. In his heart, Victor swore that he would retaliate for what happened today.
It seemed that living on the mountain for three months had made Lucan lose his sanity. Now, that brat dared to make trouble with him?!
Victor would make sure Lucan received an even crueler retaliation!
Knowing what Victor was thinking, Lucan showed a faint smile that made his handsome appearance shine even more. “Don’t worry, Senior Victor. Until Senior reaches the fifth level, Lucan will take good care of Senior’s room.”
After saying that, Lucan turned around and continued walking with Elena, leaving Victor who could only stare at him with red eyes from anger.
In his heart, Lucan said, ‘This is only the beginning….’
His eyes radiated dangerous darkness as he promised, ‘I will surely repay all the pain you gave to the original owner of this body!’
Lucan held his breath when he entered his old room. The small room that Victor had occupied for some time looked dusty with belongings scattered across the floor.
“Lucan,” someone called, making Lucan turn toward the doorway.
Elena’s eldest student had just arrived with a stack of clothes in his hands. His eyes widened slightly upon seeing the state of the room before him.
“Your room … is quite messy,” he said while wrinkling his nose. There was a damp smell that made him reluctant to enter.
Lucan turned around and said, “What do you need, Senior Gideon?”
Gideon, Elena’s eldest student who was known for his calmness as well as his magical talent, offered the stack of clothes in his hands to Lucan. “This is your new uniform. It has been adjusted to your current size, Master Elena chose it specifically.”
Lucan accepted the uniform and replied, “Thank you, Senior Gideon.”
Gideon was slightly surprised, Lucan, who always lowered his head with his shoulders hunched forward, now looked upright when replying to every word he said. He smiled and patted Lucan’s shoulder.
“You have grown up,” Gideon said proudly. “Train harder. I believe you can succeed.”
Gideon’s words made Lucan realize that he had just made a mistake. His personality was very different from the original owner of this body.
Lucan Keagan was shy and timid, while Lucan was cold and straightforward. However, everything had already happened, and it seemed Gideon was happy with the change.
“Quickly change your clothes, Master is waiting to speak with you,” Gideon said as he turned around and left.
Lucan then closed the door and removed Elena’s robe that covered his tattered clothes.
The shabby clothes Lucan was wearing were replaced with a clean white uniform, matching the name of the Academy clearly printed on the main gate, White Dove Academy.
“This Academy is quite prosperous,” Lucan muttered while touching the silk material of the uniform.
After tying his long black hair back and making sure he was properly dressed, Lucan glanced at the sword at the end of the room. The sword must belong to Victor and had been left behind.
Lucan took the sword and saw the cloud engraving on its hilt. There was also a rune engraved to prevent the sword from being used by someone else. This reminded Lucan that White Dove Academy was famous for their Rune Magic.
After placing the sword back in its place, Lucan pushed open the bedroom window. The place was too damp and stuffy, so it needed fresh air from outside.
Lucan’s heart trembled as he observed the view outside. The lake that could be seen from his room reminded Lucan of the Order of Rosethorn.
Lucan clenched his hand. Even though the end of his previous life was very tragic, the Order of Rosethorn had been the place he had belonged to since childhood.
He missed that place.
‘Fool, don’t think about useless things,’ Lucan thought while shaking his head.
Although there were many similarities between White Dove Academy and the Order of Rosethorn, from Lucan’s memories, the two organizations were clearly different.
In Lucan’s memories, the founder of White Dove Academy was a capable and virtuous leader. He had succeeded in suppressing great criminals who endangered the safety of humans in the Eldoria Region, earning the respect of the other three great organizations.
‘I wonder how many thousands of years have passed since that era,’ Lucan thought with a gaze that seemed to pierce through space and time, imagining the beautiful days of his Order. Then, he snorted coldly as he decided to leave the room. ‘I have to learn to forget the past.’
Lucan walked toward the next room, Victor’s room, which from today onward would become his until the man reached the fifth level.
Elena was seen sitting gracefully in a chair and sipping the tea that had been served. Her long eyelashes trembled when she sensed someone’s arrival.
When she looked at Lucan, the woman’s smile blossomed. “Lucan,” she called as she gestured toward the chair in front of her. “Sit.”
When Lucan sat down, Elena said, “I heard from Gideon that your room was a little dirty. I have asked someone to take care of it.”
This statement made Lucan slightly surprised. A student had the obligation to clean their own room, but Elena instead ordered someone else to clean Lucan’s room? No wonder Lucan was hated by everyone if Elena was so partial toward him!
“I don’t think it is necessary, Master. I can clean it myself without troubling the other students.”
Hearing this, Elena smiled. “Lucan is indeed the most understanding.” She added, “However, you don’t need to worry. Gideon said he would take care of it and everyone will also understand that you are still shocked after going through a danger between life and death.”
Because Elena insisted, Lucan could only say, “Alright, Master.”
Then, Elena placed down her teacup and extended her hand. “Give me your hand, I want to examine your magic core.”
For a moment, Lucan fell silent.
If Elena examined Lucan, then … wouldn’t the woman be able to examine Lucan’s actual magic level?!
If so, would Elena realize that he was not Lucan Keagan?

Fry, the Fried Chicken
Lucan did not know how it happened. Perhaps the contract occurred when the little chicken fell onto his face. However, the contract was clearly a one-sided contract that Lucan had not agreed to, and this showed that the little chicken had devoted itself to him. With a one-sided contract, whatever happened to the little chicken would have no effect on Lucan. It was different from a contracted familiar with the consent of both parties. If the familiar was injured, then its master would also be injured. And vice versa. However, putting that fact aside, Lucan still did not want it. After all, the little chicken was so talkative and could not stop chirping!“You’re happy, aren’t you? Not everyone can be as lucky as you! I–”Unfortunately, no matter how much Lucan did not want it, he had no choice. Even after repeatedly driving the little chicken away, the annoying creature refused to leave and continued following him. From that moment on, Lucan’s days no longer felt peaceful because of the
Contracted Soul
“Why didn’t you expose Victor’s wickedness?” An unfamiliar voice called out from behind Lucan.Lucan’s shoulders tensed. His eyes became alert as he turned around.WHOOSH!Three silver needle blades shot rapidly from Lucan’s fingers. Straight toward the source of the mysterious voice that had startled him.CLACK! CLACK! CLACK!“Ah!”Following the sound of the needles that embedded perfectly into the wooden wall of the room, a child’s scream could be heard.Lucan stared at the silver needles that had struck the wall precisely. Their blades were still trembling because of the force of the man’s movement.Directly beneath the three needles was a yellow creature that was half-crouching while observing the weapon that had almost taken its life. The chick-like creature trembled in fear, even its beak shaking. With watery eyes, showing that it was on the verge of tears, the creature looked at Lucan with a pitiful expression.“C-cruel! Cruel human!” It took several steps forward, avoiding the
Lucan’s Plan
Not much different from Gideon, who was extremely confused, Elena’s smooth forehead also furrowed because the answer sounded strange to her. As far as she remembered, the boy did not like Victor very much in the past, and often even avoided contact with him.Her chin was raised somewhat high as she observed Lucan. Her movement was somewhat awkward because before cultivating, Elena had always been more accustomed to lowering her head when speaking with her disciple.“Lucan,” she called softly. “If you want to ask to be accompanied by another disciple, just tell me. I will immediately replace him with a disciple you prefer more.”Lucan’s black eyes met Elena’s gaze with a firmness the woman had never seen before. Elena’s heart trembled because of the sharpness in Lucan’s gaze.“There is no need, Master Elena. I am already quite satisfied with Senior Victor.” Lucan respectfully bowed to Elena to express his deep gratitude.Elena sighed inwardly. Even though Lucan had repeatedly stated th
Lucan’s Request
“Fully responsible … for Lucan?” An awkward laugh escaped Victor’s mouth to conceal his anger. “Why?”Elena did not laugh along. Her almond-shaped eyes met Victor’s gaze sharply. “As the third strongest disciple and at the same time the guide for the first-level disciples, naturally you are the most suitable person to accompany Lucan in his magical training.”“B-but Lucan hasn’t even reached first-level Mage, Master Elena! He will only have difficulty when he joins the other disciples.”It sounded concerned, but what Victor actually meant was … he was unwilling to take on a burden like Lucan! At this moment, Elena smiled. “Don’t worry, Lucan has already managed to clear his Mana pathways. In three days, he will be able to train with the other disciples.”Victor’s mouth opened again, agape at his master’s statement. ‘The idiot cleared his Mana pathways?’ He glanced at Lucan with an incredulous expression. ‘How is that possible?!’Before Victor could object to her words again, Elena spo
Victor Receives His Punishment
Victor walked hesitantly, as did his two friends following behind him. Their usually long strides were now deliberately slowed down to stall for time.“What are you doing? Master Elena has been waiting for a while,” Gideon reprimanded impatiently. He had already walked ahead to lead the group, but was forced to turn back again because Victor and his friends had yet to appear.“I’m not sure this is a good idea. Master Elena is still exhausted. Maybe this meeting can be postponed so she can rest first,” Victor replied.“What Senior Victor said is true. It would be better for Master Elena to rest first,” one of his followers chimed in.Gideon narrowed his eyes, observing Victor who stood anxiously. Especially when Victor used his sleeve to wipe the sweat from his forehead.“What are you actually afraid of, Victor? I’ve noticed that you’ve been acting very anxious, as if you’ve just made a serious mistake.” Gideon walked closer to observe Victor’s eyes more clearly.Victor brushed his han
The Sword Pendant
“Lucan?” Elena called her student again, bringing Lucan out of his thoughts. “Do you mind?”Elena’s face looked serious, making Lucan unable to avoid it if he did not want to arouse her suspicion.“No, Master,” Lucan replied as he extended his hand and allowed Elena to examine his Mana pathways.Elena closed her eyes, then placed two fingers on the pulse of Lucan’s wrist, examining the flow of the man’s energy. The next second, Elena was startled when she felt the smooth flow of Mana energy throughout Lucan’s body.Elena’s eyes opened quickly. “You managed to clear the blockage in your veins?!” she asked in surprise. “Not only that, you have already reached first-level basic Mage level?!”This was a miracle.Since Lucan was still a baby, Elena had already known that the young man’s Mana pathways were blocked. Even so, Elena still insisted on bringing him to the Academy with the hope that high-quality potions could cure Lucan. Unfortunately, until the last time … every method they trie
