"It's getting late. Grab your stuff. I'll be waiting in the car,"

Selune said, glancing at her watch before turning and walking out of the villa without waiting for Arthur to respond.

Arthur picked up his ruined combat suit from the floor. With a flick of his wrist, a burst of golden flame shot from his palm.

In an instant, the suit was consumed by the fire, reduced to smoke that disappeared into the air.

There was no trace left, just like the past he wanted to bury.

He couldn’t afford to leave any evidence behind. His enemies weren’t the type to let him walk away.

If they couldn’t find his body, it wouldn’t be long before they tracked him here.

Once the poison in him wore off, he’d make sure everyone who’d betrayed him paid for it.

By the time Arthur stepped outside, Selune was already waiting in the car.

A sleek Rolls-Royce Phantom sat in the driveway, its ghostly-gray body gleaming in the fading sunlight.

Through the tinted windows, the light caught Selune’s pale blonde hair, giving her an ethereal glow, almost like something out of a dream.

When she saw him, Selune honked twice. It might’ve been a greeting—or maybe just a nudge to hurry up. The city was 3 hours away, and the sun was sinking fast.

The first ten minutes passed in silence. Selune kept her eyes on the road, occasionally glancing at Arthur.

She’d met a lot of men in her life—rich ones, powerful ones, handsome ones. They all reacted the same: some couldn’t wait to claim her, others played it cool but secretly schemed to get her into bed.

But Arthur wasn’t like that. In his eyes, she was just… her.

A flash of frustration hit her. But what did it matter now?

In three days, she'd be married to that damn bastard, and for the rest of her life, she'd have to live with people looking at her like she was a prize to be pitied.

Arthur noticed her gaze, the unspoken thoughts swirling in her eyes—nervous, maybe unsure.

Before he could ask, a deafening roar cut through the air.

Sleek fighter jets streaked overhead in perfect formation, heading toward the Imperial Capital.

“That’s the elite air force of the country,” Selune said, her voice trailing off. “My grandfather was one of their top pilots.”

“He must’ve been good," Arthur said, impressed.

The squadron, known as the Imperial Falcons, had been around for a century, made up of the best of the best—navy, army, and air force.

These elite soldiers had been on the frontlines of every major conflict. Now, it was under his command.

The squadron commander, Sir Morgen, had been a close friend of Arthur.

Arthur wondered what he would think of the news that he was still alive.

Selune shot him a quick glance, as if just realizing something…

"Wait a second," she said, "I remember you were wearing a combat when I found you on the beach. Are you a soldier?"

Before Arthur could answer, she flashed him a wry smile.

"Normally... I’d just have the General look up. But since my grandfather’s in a coma, things are... complicated between the military and my family. Looks like we’ll have to wait a while to figure this out."

"It's okay," Arthur said, trying to reassure her, "Maybe I'll remember on my own after a little time."

Selune didn’t answer. Her grip on the steering wheel tightened, her hands shaking slightly.

Since her grandfather fell into a coma, nothing had been the same.

Suddenly! The engine let out a sputter!

The car started to slow. The steering wheel became stiff, nearly impossible to turn.

"What the hell’s going on?" Selune shouted.

She slammed her foot down on the pedal, but the car didn’t respond.

After a few more tries, the engine let out a final groan. Died completely.

"Damn it!" Selune cursed, jumping out of the car.

She popped the hood. A thick cloud of black smoke poured out, making her cough and wave it away.

"Of course this happens now!" she growled, kicking the tire in frustration. "What else could go wrong?"

The road was empty. No other cars. No help.

Selune fumbled for her phone, only to realize there was no signal.

"Damn it... what now?" she muttered.

Arthur stepped out of the car as well.

His eyes narrowing as he walked around to the front where Selune had already opened the hood.

"Can’t you just stay put?" she snapped, her running wearing thin. " Did the bump on your head scramble your brain?"

The moment the words left her mouth, she immediately regretted.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean that. I'm just really anxious..."

Arthur didn’t response. Instead, he crouched down, studying the engine for a moment.

His eyes narrowed in understanding.

What shocked him wasn’t just the engine malfunction-it was the insane complexity of the wiring.

Just like he thought. This wasn’t a normal car. This was a military-grade stuff.

He’d seen similar technology used in logistics units, but never this close up.

Obviously, Selune had no idea his car was modified.

Where in the world did Selune get a car like this?
