Caius remained on the floor, panting while more blood oozed from his nostrils and the injuries on his face.

Jemima was frozen. She couldn’t say a word and wasn’t sure of how to handle the situation.

“No! Don’t leave! The wedding has not yet started!” Her panic increased as she watched all the guests leave one after the other. Even the minister realized that he was in the wrong place.

No one wanted to be part of the calamity that had befallen her.

“What have you done, Lucas?! You just ruined my wedding!” Tears fell from her eyes, and the only person who was there with her apart from Caius was her mother.

“I always knew that you were bad luck for my daughter! Why don’t you just let her be?!” Laila Avilla was furious at that moment, she could no longer remain calm after watching from a corner.

“Mrs. Avilla? I almost didn’t see you.” Lucas sniggered at the middle-aged lady, the memories of how bad she treated him were still intact.

“You were never good for my daughter! She only married you out of pity and to respect Lord Orson’s wishes!”

“Well, that’s a shame, Mrs. Avilla. Now she has to pay for her actions. I bet you two didn’t know that Avilla Enterprises has been progressing because of me.” Lucas scoffed, eyes turning from daughter to mother.

“What the hell are you talking about?! I have been the one working tirelessly to put my company in that position! You didn’t do anything!” Jemima was certain of her words, but she was about to learn the truth.

“Well, one of the men I cured insisted on doing something huge in appreciation. I asked him to award you the biggest contract you have ever had. I am sure you remember the Strathmore project.”

“What? That’s a lie!” Jemima tried to deny the truth, but she knew what Lucas was talking about.

The man who gave her the contract told her that he had done it because of her husband, but she was too ungrateful to ask him about it.

“As we speak, Jemima. I have taken charge of your company as the new CEO.” Lucas spoke with a calm but resolute voice, causing Jemima’s eyes to widen in disbelief.

“That’s a lie! You can’t do that! My father gave me that company! That’s my family legacy!”

“You squandered the finances on frivolities in less than a year after your father passed. I made that company what it is, and now I want it. Also…”

Lucas took a break, still looking at Jemima and her mother with a smirk on his face.

“I am not sure if your grandfather told you. But Springfort Villa and everything in it belongs to me. The agreement stated that you can only have it if we stayed married for five years.”

“That’s a lie! This estate belongs to the Avillas, you are a bloody liar!” Laila was the only one able to speak. Her daughter had already started to taste her tears of bitterness.

She couldn’t deny the fact that she remembered signing the agreement her grandfather handed over to her.

Lord Orson Avilla had been so concerned about Jemima’s lifestyle that he decided to make sure that she didn’t crumble her inheritance after her father’s untimely demise.

Meanwhile, Caius had managed to get back on his feet, but his legs were still staggering and blood trickled down his face.

“I am going to get you both arrested! The Police Chief is my uncle!” His arrogance was still intact even in that state, and he pulled out his phone to make a call.

“I think you should be more concerned about something else, Caius,” Lucas said, causing Caius to look at him.

“What the hell are you talking about?! You can’t run away from this! I am getting you all arrested!” Caius decided to go ahead with his threat.

“Silly!” Lucas sniggered at him, shaking his head for a while.

“I called in a few favors, and you are about to lose major shares in your company. Your investors are gradually pulling out, and you should get a call in…” Lucas looked at his wristwatch.

Caius’ phone rang.

“Voila! I think you should take that.” He pointed at the phone ringing inside Caius’ pocket.

Caius anxiously answered the call as soon as he saw that it was the Manager of his company who was calling.

Just like Lucas said, the major investors in his company were pulling out, and moving to one particular company. It was as if they had been compelled to do so.

“No! This can’t be! What did you do?!” His phone fell from his hand and broke into pieces.

But he dared not go close to Lucas no matter how provoked he was. He had gone into bankruptcy and accumulated a huge debt within a few minutes.

“This is the end of the road for all of you!” Lucas assumed his dominance, bloodshot eyes glaring at Jemima, her mother, and Caius who was already in tears.

“That’s the exit. Use it before you suffer more consequences.” Lucas pointed at the exit of the mansion with a stern look on his face.

“I am sorry, Lucas! I don’t know what came over me! It was my mother who deceived me!” Jemima tried to plead, but her words and tears fell on deaf ears.

Along with her cohorts, she took a walk of shame out of the mansion, surrounded by the scary soldiers.

“I love your charisma and fortitude, brother.” Logan was so impressed at how his elder brother handled things with so much superiority and intelligence.

“What are you going to do with this place?” He asked, eyes on Lucas who sighed softly.

“I don’t need it. But I would rather give it to the needy than let them have it. I think I will turn it to my new workplace someday.”

Logan nodded.

“I think it’s time to leave, Logan,” Lucas said calmly, and the two brothers left the building, accompanied by the military men who saluted their Commander Logan.

Just a few seconds after they left the building, a man desperately ran to Lucas and fell on his knees right before him.

“Please! Come save my daughter! I beg you!”
