Chapter 1

Divine Healer

The sun was slowly setting, and the moon was getting ready to shine its rays on Berryfort, the City of attraction in the country of Solana.

In one of the busy streets of Berryfort was a foursquare building that had existed earlier than the others around it.

Inside the building was a man. Not just an ordinary man, but one who was so gifted that both the rich and poor traveled from faraway countries to queue to see him.

That evening was no different than the others, and Lucas was seated patiently while he waited for the next person he was to attend to.

“Hello, Doctor Lucas.” A beautiful lady in her mid-thirties walked into the room with a smile.

It was obvious that she was very rich as the pearls hanging on her neck and the scent of her cologne spoke volumes of luxury.

“Miss Dante. You are back.” Lucas was surprised to see the lady, but it wasn’t a situation he wasn’t used to as most of the ladies who frequented his workspace were there to flirt with him even though they knew he was a married man.

He was married to Jemima Avilla, a beautiful brunette who was the CEO of Avilla Enterprise, a third-tier company in Berryfort.

Their marriage was that of convenience, but Lucas had learned to love her even though they seemed to be two worlds apart.

He was a fine young man in his late twenties, with brown orbs and hair that complemented his perfectly chiseled face. His body was like that of an athlete even though he didn’t need to exercise so much.

“I still feel a sharp pain on the left side of my waist, Doctor. I think you should take a look.” The lady didn’t bother taking a seat.

She walked closer to Lucas and gently grabbed his right hand in an attempt to place it on her waist.

“I am sorry, Miss Dante. I will just give you something for the pain.” Lucas cleverly pulled away from the lady’s grip while he reached out to one of his shelves filled with herbs and other objects only he knew what they were meant for.

He always had a smile on his face each time he was attending to the numerous sick people who ran to him for their health challenges.

His dedication and passion were so good that many wondered if he ever had to rest or even do anything fun.

But he was simple, and the only thing that mattered to him was taking care of the sick and dying, earning him the nickname; ‘Divine Healer’.

“Here, take this. It should help with the pain.” Lucas handed her a small bottle containing herbs that were for vitamin boost since he already knew that there was nothing wrong with her.

The lady was so disappointed, but she had no other option than to take the bottle and leave at once. The smile on her face vanished, and a frown appeared instantly.

“Same story.” Lucas chuckled softly and sighed while he waited for the next person he was to see.

He was so relieved when he saw that the next person was a man. That meant that he didn’t have to deal with another attempt to seduce him.

The man looked older than his real age, and he limped while he balanced himself with the aid of his walking stick.

“Hello, Doctor Lucas. I traveled from Amania because I heard you are the best.”

“You are welcome, Sir,” Lucas said with a soothing and confident voice.

He already knew what was wrong with the man by merely observing him for a while.

“I have tried so many Doctors both in my country and other countries, but none has been able to cure me. They say your methods are unique and strange. But they spoke highly of you.”

Lucas could see the doubt written all over the man’s face. He looked desperate as well.

“You have come to the right place.” Lucas cleared his throat before he grabbed a long needle from his drawer.

He walked straight to the man after grabbing a bottle from one of his shelves.

“This is going to hurt a little.” He warned the man before he gently pushed the needle into the man’s leg, locating the exact place his problem was from.

The man grunted a little, but it wasn’t long before Lucas pulled the needle out of his flesh, and along with it came a dead vein.

“This is the reason why you haven’t been able to walk well.” Lucas discarded the dead vein safely while the man was still in shock.

“How did you do that? I haven’t felt this amount of relief for twenty years!” The man was amazed at how wonderful Lucas was with his technique.

“I can move my leg properly!” He gasped in shock, tossing away his walking stick before returning his gaze to Lucas.

“Please, Sir! Accept this as a token of appreciation. I know you deserve more, but I have spent everything I have trying to get better.” The man offered Lucas a bundle of money, but he rejected it.

“Keep it. You need it more than I do.”

The man was so shocked at how kind and merciful Lucas was, and the only thing he could do was show his appreciation with words of gratitude after Lucas rejected his cash gift.

He had to leave after Lucas handed him over the bottle he was holding which was meant to make his cure permanent.

There were so many other people lined up patiently to see Lucas, but he didn’t bother taking a break until he was done seeing the last person.

Finally, it was time for him to leave, and he couldn’t wait to go home to his wife.

It was their third anniversary, and he bought her the perfect gift he could think of; an emerald necklace, one of the rarest in the entire world.

It cost him half a million, almost all the money he had. But nothing was too much for Jemima.

Just when he was about to grab the handle of the door after he shut the windows, a fierce flash of light from a blazing fire hit his face from the dark, causing him to flicker his eyelids.

The fire was so intense that before Lucas could realize what was going on, the building was hit and set ablaze at once

The force was so enormous that it pushed him to the ground. He thudded and blacked out.
