The Condition

Nothing was so pitiful than the tears that trickled down Daisy’s face.

Lucas could see the pain in her eyes, evidence that she had suffered greatly at the hands of her family.

He wondered why they treated her so badly, but then he decided that he was going to help her.

“I will help you. Don’t worry.” He promised with a soothing voice which was accompanied by a reassuring smile.

He turned to face Dexter and his wife, and then he said audibly;

“I have one condition before I agree to help your daughter.”

The smile on Dexter’s face vanished at once, and he realized that something didn’t seem right.

“Is there a problem? Is anything wrong?”

“Not at all, Mr. Buffet. I will cure her but on one condition.”

“What condition?” Dexter asked, not certain that he was ready for the answer to the question.

“That you will let me marry her. It seems no one wants her, but I think I want to marry her.”

“Why? Look at her, she looks like a monster! Why would a handsome man like you want to marry a cripple?!” Stacy confirmed the fact that they were maltreating their daughter.

“Do not worry. That’s my cross to carry.” Lucas said without discarding his smile.

He left Daisy’s parents speechless for a while, but it wasn’t so long before Dexter finally gave him a response.

“Fine! She is of no use to us! If you want to marry her, then go ahead. You will be lifting a burden off our shoulders.”

Lucas was shocked at the kind of response he got from Dexter. Even his wife supported him with a nod. The disdain they had for their daughter was all over their faces.

Lucas sighed, but he was not able to get rid of the strong disappointment he felt inside him.

“A while ago, you were begging me to cure your daughter, and now you no longer want her.”

“Of what use is she when she is dead to us? Look at her! She looks so horrible! I don’t even think she will ever get better!” Dexter scoffed, pointing at his daughter with so much hatred in his eyes.

Daisy was so hurt by her parents’ actions that she burst into tears at once, hiding her ugly face in shame.

“Very well. But I hope you do not regret this.” Lucas turned around and walked back to Daisy who refused to lift her face.

“Look at me.” Lucas gently lifted her face. “I will make them regret this.”

He lifted Daisy from the wheelchair and pushed it aside.

Dexter and his wife watched him as he carried Daisy who wrapped her arms around his neck. It was the first time anyone had spoken kindly to her for over two years since she had that accident.

“They spoke so highly of him, but I never knew that he was a moron,” Dexter said while he watched the car zoom off. But he was glad that he was no longer going to have to deal with being ridiculed because of his hideous daughter.

Meanwhile, Daisy covered her face throughout the ride to Rose Haven. She was scared that people were going to see her on the road and run away because of her body which had been destroyed by fire.

The memories of that fateful night kept on haunting her even in her dreams. She had turned from a beautiful CEO of a big company to someone who was abandoned to a wheelchair, and ridiculed by many in the city.

All the men who desired her in the past called her ugly.

Lucas carried her into the mansion and placed her on the large bed in one of the massive rooms. She still wasn’t sure if she was doing the right thing by trusting a stranger.

The condition of Daisy’s body was so bad that it took Lucas a while to figure out the best way to handle the situation.

“Just a moment, Daisy. I will be right back.” Lucas left at once to get something.

Luckily, he had been able to purchase some of the ingredients and herbs that he had lost to the fire, but some others were so rare that he needed to travel to different countries to find them.

It wasn’t long before he returned to the room after he had taken all the items he needed for Daisy’s condition. The poor lady was already thinking that he had abandoned her.

He got to work at once, mixing everything he needed into a small plate until he was satisfied that everything was ready.

“I need you to take off your clothes so that I can apply this to all the parts of your body.” Lucas waited until Daisy was ready.

Slowly, she took off her clothes until only her underwear was left. She covered her face with both hands while she lay flat on the bed.

Lucas meticulously applied the herb to her body, and it was time for results.

Gradually, her skin began to heal, and her body glowed up just like that of a newborn baby.

Lucas nodded in satisfaction, and then he dropped the plate he was holding on the bed.

“Open your eyes.” He said calmly, but Daisy wasn’t ready to be disappointed again.

“Trust me, Daisy. Go ahead…Open your eyes.”

This time, Daisy opened her eyes and looked at her hands.

She gasped as soon as she realized that the burns all over her hands had disappeared.

“Come and have a look.” Lucas helped her get down from the bed, and then he led her to the front of the large mirror in the room.

“I never thought I was ever going to regain my beauty again! I feel alive!” Daisy couldn’t stop staring at her body which was better than it was before the accident.

There was no acne, no bruise, no wrinkles, not even a black spot.

Her blonde hair fitted perfectly to her flawless face, and for the first time in two years, she smiled.

“Thank you so much! I owe you my life!” She embraced Lucas tightly.

Lucas had to gently drop her to the ground after she jumped on him.

Tears slowly dropped from her eyes, but they were tears of boundless joy.

“Here…” Lucas covered Daisy with his jacket.

“You are a miracle Doctor! How can I ever repay you for this?”

“It is I who needs to repay,” Lucas said calmly, causing a little bemusement on Daisy.

“It appears you still do not recognize me,” Lucas added, but he was getting Daisy more confused.

The four men were marveled that their revered leader didn’t do anything even after he was slapped very hard by Scarlett across his face. He staggered backward, rubbing his left hand on his cheek without saying a word. Scarlett was ready to hit him again. “What are you doing here?!” She was furious, fuming in an intense rage. Lucas turned to his mother and gave her the kind of look that was eager for an explanation. The leader of the group was rubbing his cheek, and as some point, he looked at his companions who were expecting him to react. “We are here to see the Divine Healer, Scarlett. We were told that he lives here now.” Lucas stepped forward. “Who are you?” He was still curious, and since his mother was not prepared to say the reason why she hit the man, he didn’t bother to ask. “My name is Seth, Divine Healer, and these are my companions. We are the messengers of the Emperor of Narmia. We travelled all the way from the East to see you.” From what the leader of th

I am guessing this is your first son.” Iris laughed hysterically, and Logan had to force himself not to join her. “First, you said I was pregnant, and now you already know the gender of the child you claim is in my womb.” “Hmm-mm.” Lucas’ confidence was unwavering, and to help resolve the issue, Briana decided to step in.“I have a pregnancy test kit!” She announced, avoiding her mother’s eyes.Scarlett furrowed her brows. “What do you need that for?!” She asked, but Briana was already on her way out of the living room. She returned as soon as she could and handed the kit over to Iris. “I think this will tell us the truth, Iris.”Iris scoffed. “There is no way I am doing any stupid test! But this is the only thing that will make me happy. Marry my daughters, and you will give me profound peace.”“All of them?” Lucas inquired, and the old man nodded. “Yes, all of them.” Lucas scoffed. “I don’t think I can handle your three daughters all together, Mr. Phoenix.” He looked at Lara and her sisters, and because they were still upset, they rolled their eyes at him one after the other. “I have some other things to do, Mr. Phoenix. We are done here since the purpose of my coming has been fulfilled.”The Divine Healer was ready to leave, but the old man was still desperate. “Please, Lu

On their way striding along the hallway, Lucas looked at the portraits of his father hanging in different spots on the walls.A heavy sigh left him, but he was distracted by the appearance of his sister.Briana was curious. “Where are you going so early, Lucas?” She was worried that he was leaving them, especially as she saw the brown portable box he was carrying.
