CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: Demon Lord Lilith
Jaron was fast. The woman – Inanna Regina Immortalis, eldest and most powerful of the Demon Lord Lilith’s direct children – was unconcerned. The world rippled. Shockwaves spread as their Divine bodies wrestled for control of the ambient energy, first in feet, then meters. It didn’t end there. The shockwaves grew stronger, seeming now to affect even the very fabric of reality.Jaron grit his teeth and held on stubbornly. His lightning Divine body was weaker than Inanna’s Lust Divine body. But it was tenacious. Vengeful. It refused to yield. It was the essence of lightning. The world around them began to ripple. Stones warped, sky and bodies warped. Jaron still hung on stubbornly even with the signs of an imminent breaking occurring around him. If the Demon Princess refused to stop, then neither would he!Cracks split the world. Not on the ground alone. The air cracked. The sky cracked. Cracks that led to a seemingly boundless darkness. Chaotic currents began to seep through
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: Answering Summons
Jaron Igarlan hit the ground with a grimace. He stumbled forward a few steps before quickly falling into a Gebo stance, steadying himself.His eyes still needed to adjust – they were still blurry – so he didn’t bother with them. He flared his magical senses outwards instead.The Lower Aether was already working its enhancement on him. A range of 10km was made available to his senses, where 5km would have been a stretch back in the Middle Aether. Of course this range only offered a quick overview of the situation around him. He could only sense with details everything around a 1km radius. Enhancement of the Lower Aether, notwithstanding.Nothing stood out in the immediate environment. He was alone, and as yet undiscovered. Patting himself down, he noticed he was still in one piece. Journeying through the barriers this time had fairly burned him alive.Slowly, he opened his eyes.Everything still appeared blurry for a few seconds before they began to render themselves into sharpe
SCROLL FRAGMENT
SCROLL FRAGMENT NINE ON THE NATURE OF ENERGY; THE MYSTERIES OF THE DIVINE BODY We all know, or have felt the sense of inadequacy associated with the Divine body, and I wouldn’t be surprised if many of you simply attributed it to the fact that your advancement levels was still lacking.Well now, I have stepped into the Transcendent Realm and this inadequacy still exists. Nay, it is even more evident! And this observation have confirmed to me what millennia of research had failed to do. You all call me Dain the Fervent because you believe I have lost all reason to my obsession, but now I can say with some true certainty, based on factual evidence, that I was right. I have discovered finally the true nature of energy; the true nature of the force that binds our world together. And I am not even the first to discover this!I have long suspected that the beings of the Upper Aether were keeping secrets about the sundering from us, and I finally discovered the proof in a hidden cave
CHAPTER SIXTEEN:: Burning Curiosity
Yvaine paused in her journaling with a frown. The groan had come again. The sound had accompanied her for three days now, and it was getting to the point where she could no longer stand it. Smudging the sharpened tip of her pencil on the page, she spun around in her stool to regard the men stirring awake on her bed. Calling it a bed was an overstatement. It was just a wooden platform padded full with heavy mattress. The room was a shabby little cube with a door and two windows to allow egress and ventilation. Those windows and doors had mostly stayed shut since she paid for the room three days ago. The room had only the table, stool and the bed as the only furniture available, and she’d promptly transformed the table and whatever space was left on the floors to a disheveled library. The matron of the inn looked at her with a decidedly unfriendly expression on her face whenever she came in and saw the state of the room.Yvaine still couldn’t understand which part was more of an
CHAPTER FIFTEEN: Martial Hearing
Mozuzu was livid.Gilgal didn’t care. He laughed heartily for a few more seconds until whispers began to rise from the crowd. Coughing to end the laughter, he fixed his gaze on Mozuzu, before looking around the crowd to acknowledge the older Purgers and some of his acquaintances.His mirth had struggled free of his lips at that moment when he truly considered what was happening. It was hilarious enough that these Knights and Messengers came upon him with a crowd to force him into a martial hearing, as though they’d already forgotten his well-earned reputation. But it was beyond hilarious that Mozuzu was the one leading their band.Mozuzu had not even been born when he made a resounding reputation for himself at Poles. The fellow was a hot-blooded brat that he’d personally raised into a Knight. Having Mozuzu coming after him now made him feel things he couldn’t name, and a laughter seemed the best response. The man had indeed grown into a Knight of renown, but that was irrelevant he
CHAPTER FOURTEEN: Winter Task
As students went, Gilgal was confident in saying that his best set had been the group before Nur’s batch. What he had to work with now couldn’t be compared with them at all. It was just a pity that no single member of that batch was still alive. That made him ponder some times, what exactly was the reason why he was still alive? Why were there even older Purgers still alive? Because skill alone couldn’t be the reason, and if it was, then none of his students should have ever died. Luck had to have a part to play in it also, and it wouldn’t be a small part, either. But luck wasn’t quantifiable, nor was it reliable, so he still stuck to skill and experience when teaching. And those aspects couldn’t be ignored either when considering the reasons for his continued survival. Skill and experience had saved him after all, 300 years ago in Poles.Now, he stood still with watchful eyes overlooking the young Squits in their drills. Very early that morning he’d reported to the task hall
