Chapter 1

Marcus walked right into Director Wesley's office without knocking. The look on his face showed how angry he was, and he smashed the white envelope on the desk and yelled right away.

“Explain that!”

When Wesley looks at Marcus's face, he stays calm. This jerk had the nerve to bash into his office without knocking. Marcus is lucky that he is having a good day.

“This is what it means: You're fired! Get your ass out of this company!”

Marcus raised his eyebrows and asked.

“How can I be fired when I'm a member of this family and my work has been the lifeblood of this company?”

He got to work early this morning and found this on his desk.

“I need a good reason for why I'm being fired.”

“Because you're not the owner! I think that's a good reason.”

Wesley sat back in his chair and didn't pay any attention to Marcus's face.

“Bang!”

Marcus hit the table hard with his hands and moved his head forward.

“This company should have died a long time ago. I gave you guys all my money to help, and now you're firing me!”

Marcus gave the Hudson family all of his money when they needed it the most; he wouldn't have if Hazel hadn't begged him. Now they're mad at him for something he didn't do.

“It doesn't matter that you helped us out; we employed you, and then we allowed you to get married to Hazel. Is that not enough? We owe you nothing anymore.”

Wesley put out his hand to reach the phone and called the security number.

“Come to my office and bring five of your men with you.”

“You should leave right away, or security will kick you out.”

Marcus slowly calms down. There's nothing he can do because he knows Wesley has the support of his family, and they blame him for what Wesley did. He told Wesley not to buy Kyd stock, but he did so after work, and Wesley paid a lot of money for it. Unfortunately, the stock crashed overnight, and by the time he got back to work the next day, everything was over, and Wesley quickly blamed Marcus.

That part was his job, so no one believed him. They knew the truth, but they chose to be stupid because they didn't want him back in the family; he was just a house rat living under them.

The guards rush inside, like they've been practicing all their lives for this. They arrived faster than Marcus thought they would; it looked like everything was planned ahead of time.

When the security guards came in, Wesley stood up, went over to Marcus, and uttered close to him.

“Have you ever thought about why Ivy gets kicked out of school? she is four years old now, and she still can't get admitted to any school.”

Marcus raised an eyebrow when he heard what Wesley just said. Little Ivy always gets kicked out on the third day of school because they said she either fought with five of her classmates and broke their hands or almost drowned someone to death.

That's what the school tells him. He knows Ivy can't do that because she's only four years old, and she can't do it, but the school never listens, and she always gets kicked out.

Marcus raised an eyebrow as he thought about it more. They had never let him see the victims; instead, they kicked him and Ivy out of school.

He never thought for once that the Hudson family did it. He can't believe it.

“You jerk!”

“Listen up, Marcus. I have informed all the schools in Summerville. Ivy will never attend any school in her life; she will never get any certificate, but you can change that.”

Marcus gazes at him.

“Divorce Hazel right now and leave her life; we'll take care of Ivy and let her attend a good school. If you don't agree, her education is set in stone, and you shouldn't bother looking for work in Summerville; no one will employ you.”

“You have an hour to decide, or else you can forget everything.”

Marcus chest gets tight; he can't believe what he's hearing. How can he divorce Hazel? But Ivy's education is at stake.

The Hudson family is a third-class family in Summerville, so he knows what they can do. It would be easy for them to do something like this.

These people have ended his life; he has no money, no properties, and nothing to brag about.

He clenched his hand even tighter. He had no choice; he always wanted the best for Hazel and his daughter.

Even though he knows Ivy has a fake history of drowning and breaking the arms and legs of other kids, she can't be illiterate. He doubts that any school will take her if he rejects Wesley's offer.

Marcus looks at Wesley.

“What's it going to be, Marcus? You only have 24 hours to divorce Hazel.”

Marcus moves closer to Wesley. Wesley was about to continue when he got slapped in the face.

“slap!!”

Wesley was knocked down.

Marcus tried to pound on him, but the security guards grabbed him right away and threw Marcus against the wall.

“Deal with this fucking jerk!”

Wesley stands up and roars again.

“Get this crazy madman out of here right now!”

Marcus tried to resist the security guards, but they quickly beat him down, threw him out of the company, and hit him on the ground.

“Punk!”

Their boss spat on Marcus and then went inside the building.

Marcus stayed on the floor and tried to deal with the pain he was in. He doesn't look hurt, but his bones look like they are broken.

After some time, he was able to stand up, and he started crying right away. What am I going to do now?

He has no choice but to obey; he can't ruin Ivy's future, so he should just leave. Hazel won't agree, but he will explain things to her and make her agree; she has to divorce him if she wants a better life for herself and Ivy; he can't offer anything to them, no matter how hard he tries; he doesn't even have a job now, and he knows the Hudson family wouldn't let him get one.

Marcus took one step and felt a needle stab him in the neck. He fell right away and looked up to see a scary man standing next to him.

His face looked like the devil's, and the man quickly put his hand over his eyes.
