Chapter 4

After the club meeting, David offered to show me around the campus. It was a relief to have a friendly face to guide me through this new environment. As we walked, he pointed out key locations, such as the library, cafeteria, and student lounge.

I showed David my school ID card and asked him, "Do you know where my classroom is?"

He nodded and said, "Yes, follow me; I'll show you the way."

I followed closely behind him and said, "Thanks, you've been a great help."

"Don't mention it; it's always nice to help someone," David replied with a smile on his face.

When we reached the door, he paused and turned to me.

"Here's your classroom," he said, smiling. "Just show your ID to the teacher, and you'll be all set."

With a grateful nod, I took a deep breath and entered the classroom. All eyes turned toward me as I walked to the front, and I could feel the weight of their curious gazes. The teacher, a middle-aged woman with a warm smile, beckoned me forward.

"Class, we have a new transfer student joining us today," she announced. "Kazuma, please introduce yourself."

I stood before the class, my heart racing. This was it, the moment to make my mark in this new place.

"Um, hi," I began, my voice trembling only slightly. "I'm Kazuma Satou. I just transferred here, and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you."

As I spoke, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. The classroom responded with polite nods and smiles.

"Go and pick a seat of your choice," said the teacher.

Hearing that, I nodded my head in response to what she had said and said, "Okay ma."

I scanned the room for an empty desk. That's when I saw her, sitting at a desk near the front of the room, her white hair flowing like a cascade of snow. My eyes were immediately drawn to her, and I couldn't tear my gaze away. Her beauty was otherworldly, ethereal, and I couldn't believe my luck that I would be sitting right behind her.

As I made my way to my assigned seat, I couldn't help but steal glances at her. Her skin was porcelain smooth, and her eyes, a shade of striking silver, seemed to hold the secrets of the universe. I watched as she meticulously arranged her books and notebooks, her movements graceful and deliberate.

The teacher began the class, and I tried my best to focus on the lesson, but my mind kept drifting back to her. Who was she? Where had she come from? I was determined to find out more about her.

During the break, I mustered the courage to strike up a conversation. I walked over to her desk and introduced myself, my heart pounding in my chest. She looked up at me with those mesmerizing silver eyes and smiled, a warm and welcoming smile that put me instantly at ease.

I stammered, "My name is Kazuma Satou, I just moved here with my parents."

"Oh man, I have blown it; she is going to look at me as a nerd or some creep. Here goes my first day in school," I said in my mind while I started sweating due to tension.

She stared at me with an intense look shown on her face that gives out gestures of 'get out, freak,' but in an instance, she gave out a smirk and started laughing and said, "You are kind of funny."

"Phew," I gasped in relief because I didn't make her think I was a freak. Then I took a breath in and out and asked in a polite manner, saying, "Can you please tell me your name too?" I said feeling somehow embarrassed because this was the first time I had really talked to a girl this close. In high school, I was a nerd and kind of fat, so no girls would want to talk to a fatty.

Because of that, I made a resolution that I would change myself. So, I trained furiously every day for a year by going to the gym before I could slim down to who I am today. I looked towards her waiting for her to give her reply; it looked like 10 seconds had turned to 10 minutes due to the tension I was feeling talking to a girl for the first time. I began regretting ever talking to her in my mind and started cursing myself on the inside.

While I was still cursing myself inside, she said, "My name is Emily Anderson, nice making your acquaintance."

I was startled because I wasn't listening to her; I was busy cursing myself in my mind. I needed to hear what she had just said and asked her, "Please, can you please repeat what you just said, please? I wasn't paying attention."

She looked at me and let out a chuckle sound and said, "You know you are funny, right?" She said while laughing out loud, and then she continued laughing out loud and said, "My name is Emily Anderson."

The moment I heard her name come out of her mouth, "My name is Emily Anderson," kept ringing in my head. I couldn't bear the pain, and I screamed aloud, causing Emily to become scared, and everyone in the classroom panicked.

The teacher rushed into the classroom from outside, grabbed my hand, and said, "I'm rushing you to the school infirmary."

My head was still throbbing, and the name Emily continued to echo, causing intense pain. Suddenly, letters appeared right in front of me.
