Chapter 02 - Attacked Campaign

Thunder rumbled as Damian Blackwell jolted awake.

"Sir!" Damian's campaign officer had found him unconscious and rushed him to the hospital.

"My kids!" were the first words out of Damian's mouth as he regained consciousness.

"Sir, please remember we have a campaign to run."

"A lot of voters are counting on you."

"You've become a joke of a politician but that has only made you more popular."

"Since you've mentioned your kids a thousand times... I have some information on them."

"I can take you there." His manager Divian said.

"Please." Damian begged, following him until they reached his wicked mother-in-law’s mansion.

Once inside, Damian unknowingly walked into the family meeting.

"I heard this pauper thinks he can mock our entire family by running for prime minister?" Damian's mother inlaw shouted in disgust as he stepped into the parlor, where his wife’s relatives were all gathered to ridicule him.

He was conversant with his mother in-laws hatred towards him since she wanted her daughter Lovina to marry a Billionaire instead of a hustler like him.

“Kneel down and ask for forgiveness immediately!” A voice from the family meeting being held elapsed.

Damian had to be extremely hard working to protect his marriage because he bagged a daughter and a son too who needed him.

This earned him a little respect at his wife's family although Lovina wanted a billionaire as a husband, Not someone who spends his twenty four hours working like an animal to buy her cheap Diamonds.

“You think I need this trash?” His wife abuses as she slams her so called cheap diamond necklace and ring over his face that it even injures him.

“Lovina! My wife, why? You even threw my things away?” He asked, confused to have seen his clothes outside the compound littered up and down.

She had always been a witch to him.

Although on Damian's side, With the little influence and connections he had built, he decided to take a big step in his life by contesting to become prime minister, and this was the main problem.

Since his wife's best friend, who wanted Lovina for himself; Mr. Bilal felt challenged and decided to compete for the same prime ministership position that Damian wanted for his own self!

Making Damian suffer in his Marriage so he can have Lovina - Was Bilal's plan.

So destroying Damians spirit through a divorce with his wife and setting him up to destroy his goals would keep Damian below him.

Together, Lovina, Bilal and the entire family began to Plot against Damian, as they hated him because to them, Damian was a huge disappointment.

“Lovina, I hope we're good, did you call on a meeting to report me again? What did I do this time to deserve this humiliation?” Damian asked as he walked towards his wife, to understand better.

“Kpaa!” She slams him a hard dirty slap as she turns to look at Mr. Bilal for protection and Damian chuckles with a red eye as he was hurt and even more lost!

“No, it can't be what I am thinking?” Damian said as he held his wife's waists but she wickedly broke a wine bottle over his head shocking him.

“Step down Damian!” His mother - inlaw orders like the law behind him, whilst taking her expensive wine, manipulatively trying to intimidate him to let Bilal win.

“It will never happen!” Damian disagrees despite their acts of shaming him.

He had grown out of their disgrace.

“How dare you?... Did you forget that you live in my daughter's house and depend on us?” His mother in-law growls at Damian before she splashes her really hot coffee over him with Damian looking back at Lovina, wondering if she was now mad?

“Damian... Listen to me... Mr. Bilal is a billionaire, he is more fit to become the prime minister, I know you have the citizens support, why don't you endorse Mr. Bilal and I promise to ensure that you'll finally have peace in your marriage?” His mother in-law requested of him wickedly!

“And if I don't?” Damian asked.

"I will go ahead with the divorce and you will be on your own poor fool!" His wife Lovina threatens their marriage again.

“Not just that alone, because we will burn your career and everything you love alive, right before your eyes.” His mother in law strikes a deal but it made Damian laugh at her empty threats.

His laugh created a fear of his Aura!

“I might live in your daughter's house, but gone are those days when I lacked money to survive, I worked hard for my family, to buy Lovina those expensive jewelries she calls trash and to take care of my children, I succeeded without your help!” Damian fired back and everyone was shocked.

They never believed Damian could be so boastful before them or even Madam Macias, the core bone of the family.

How dare the filth they always mocked and used like a trash speak back?

“But Lovina, shouldn't your husband's career be your top priority?” Damian asked with a teary eye as he held Lovina tightly to himself... Trapping his bleeding tears.

Damian looks at Lovina again, realizing his wife's appearance has been changing recently... Could she be worried or finally pregnant for him?

But he neglected those thoughts.

“If you all will rather support Bilal instead of me, don't forget that I still have the people's support and my fuel will be the future of my Son and my daughter, not some freaking Mr. Bilal chasing after my wife!” Damian fires back his outrage.

He couldn't believe his Lovina was Lovina!

“Pow!” Mr. Bilal lands him a slap!

“You called me useless, and I ignored that, but you should know... I don't need to chase Lovina, she's already mine!” Bilal confidently said and Damian fakes a smile in hurt cause with how his wife held Bilal in front of him.. It could be true?

He guessed.

“You know, as hurtful as you hitting me feels... This is how I will come back to slap you back when I become prime minister... You all should Watch me!” Damian said as he walked up to Lovina.

“And for you... Wait for me, I know you won't leave me, I love you.” Damian says as he storms off from there.

“I'd be glad to greet your ghosts!” Mr. Bilal indirectly threatens his life as Damian in his suit stopped in his tracks.

“Don't be too sure, Mr. Bilal, let me tell you a short Parable.” Damian fires back as he turns back like a devil at Bilal and the entire family.

"You're like a horse who can't be forced to drink from the river… But I am that Horse's rider who would lead that stubborn horse to drown in that same river, so Mr. Bilal! Do wait for my Ghosts too.” Damian said with a smile as he walked out.

After leaving there, Damian visited his kids praying with them before he finally headed to the neighboring state for his last prime ministership campaign.

“I am so happy to talk here publicly to my supporters, tomorrow is the final voting day, remember... I am the one meant for that office and only I will deliver!” Damian said and the entire crowd of supporters hailed him before his smile instantly died.

"Daddy!" He hears his kids call on him as a note is dropped over his pulpit stand and he picks it up to read the contents.

"Announce to the world that you are stepping down from your bid to become Prime Minister, don't forget we have your children." Damian read the note, his heart sinking as he noticed an arrow pointing toward the crowd of his loyal supporters.

"Please, no! I’m done! I’m no longer..." He stammered, his voice trembling as he prepared to give up his dream.

But before he could finish, a sudden, deafening sound shattered the moment. 

His body shook as he watched helpless... While his son and daughter collapsed to the ground... lifeless, causing a blur of hair vision with a deep and verwhelming darkness consuming him, driven by the shock and pain of the scene before his very own eyes.
