[ You have unlocked the inventory ]

[ You have received an Item ]

[ You have received an item]

[ You have received 10 Stat Points ]

Haruto stared at the messages, unsure of what most meant. But, there was one…there was one…just one. He stared at it with intensity enough to melt steel.

‘10! I have 10 unused stat points!’

Ecstatic, Haruto quickly chose to accept it as well as the other two items he had received.

He quickly navigated to the stats panel. And fell into deep thought. No matter how happy and eager he was, he was not going to let that cloud his sense of judgment. That was how he had survived in his former world after all!! — well, at least before he died.

After thinking deeply for some time, he chose to increase his strength stat by 5 and agility by 5 also. That brought both to 20 and 15 respectively. He didn't feel anything from upgrading the agility stat though, it made him feel disappointed, he felt like he just wasted stat points.

But, something in him told him it would come in handy. Was it…. his intuition?.

Sighing, he chose to do the last thing he wanted to do on the system. Well, not that it was the last, he had already finished all. But, a new revelation had created space for another one.

‘An inventory? What's that?’

Haruto concentrated on the list of panels. [Status] [Quests] [Inventory]

Indeed, until a few moments ago, he was sure there were just two panels on the system's interface. A new one had been added. He quickly navigated to it. He had received two items, according to the system. He was curious to know what they were.

[ Inventory

[Quantum Guard]

[Led Light]

[Invisible Cloak]

]

‘Quantum guard?’

It appeared the armour was not destroyed after his fight with that monster. He was very happy about that. Excited even. But, to his utter dismay, it appeared to be severely damaged. Sighing from disappointment, He inspected it.

[Quantum Guard (Damaged)

Type: Armour

Defense: 500,000

Integrity: 1000

Buff: Boosts agility by 200%

Grade: 1 (Epic)

Description: An old armour once used by the Emperor of Atoms

Additional Description: This armour has been severely damaged and will require 7 godly relics to restore to full glory.

Obtained Godly Relics: 0/7]

Haruto stared at the armour with a grim expression. The armour appeared even more damaged than he had imagined. Last time he used it, the defense was a whopping billion!. And the buff was about 500%.

In his opinion, the system was fair in a sense, it didn't want his host to be strong from the onset. Only providing him with something overly powerful and then masterfully destroying it.

At least, it could be repaired. But, that fact alone had left him with a lot of unanswered questions. What would happen if he was as powerful as the system wanted him from the onset? Would he die? And, more importantly, what the hell are godly relics?!!! Where the hell was he supposed to find them? And were they even obtainable?.

He sighed, scratched the back of his neck and adjusted his position again.

Who knew what kind of horrors he would have to defeat to get the relics? That would have to wait for now. The armour was currently unusable which was a very big regret for him. But he wasn't gritting his teeth only because it was to be expected. The bastard was grade 1 after all!.

But, he wasn't done with the armour yet. Or rather, the armour wasn't done with him yet. It had saved his life after all, not the other way round. And somehow, he felt it was still going to do that many more times.

There was one more thing though.

‘If the armour was damaged, why was the integrity still at 1000?’

But, that was just a question anyway, he already had a theory, but, a theory was still a theory. So, he wasn't concluding yet. He was guessing that, with every full destruction it was subjected to, the armour was damaged. The integrity which also implied its durability would drop to zero when it got destroyed. And then, it started all over. Only this time, it would drop more easily than before.

Sighing, he chose to inspect the other two items.

[Led Light

Type: Tool

Integrity: 1000

Grade: 2 (bronze)

Description: Just your usual light.

]

Haruto stared stupidly at the description of the second item. What were the chances that the system would award him with a torch light? None!!! Absolutely none at all!!!. A grade two one at that matter.

He palmed his face.

‘What a stupid item’

Hissing under his breath, he decided to check the third item. He tensed as he did so. His curiosity, slamming violently against his ribs.

‘Please let it be something good…please’

If he was truly going on the expedition, he had to be equipped as fully as possible. Not just full, he had to be strong. Something told him weak weapons wouldn't do much against horrors.

Thinking about them, he suppressed a shiver and focused on inspecting the third item.

[Ethereal Translucence

Type: Utility

Integrity: 1000

Grade: 2 (Gold)

Description: A cloak left behind by the forbidden. After many years of waiting, they finally got their revenge. They could do it….unseen.

Enchantments: [Ethereal Manifestation] [Translucent Domain]

]

‘Bingo!!’

Haruto was ecstatic. He didn't know it, but almost immediately, a sense of joy and relief seared through his bones.

‘This would really come in handy! But…uhh..ethereal translucence? It's not scary at all. Not even in the slightest bit’

Just from the name alone, Haruto could tell it was something that made him invisible.

He chose to summon it.

With a thought, a black cloak with thick white fur at its tip took shape around his body. The cloak looked really heavy but strangely…..as light as a feather. He really liked it. Especially the fragrance. Its scent was really alluring.

‘No way…’

To see if his guess was correct, he tried to move about. The cloak didn't even restrict his movements at all!. It felt as though he wasn't even wearing it.

Unknown to him, a deep smile was already on his lips.

‘Crazy…this is really crazy!’

He sat down and contained his excitement. There was additional information about the cloak. Something he didn't see on the quantum guard or led light. He froze.

‘Enchantments?’

His expression darkened.

That word was very familiar.

‘What were the chances that this one would not incur a curse?’

As if to answer his daring question, a new set of information appeared under the armour.

[Curse: This armour is cursed. Anyone who dons it would be hunted to the end of the world by the Forbidden]

Haruto's heart grew cold, his face instantly lost colour as he stared at the new set on information. His nerves were pressing against his throat.

‘Why?!!! Why do I have to be haunted?!!! Just why???!!! What did I do wrong?!!!’

He didn't even know how to feel. After all, he had not met The Forbidden before. He had literally just heard of them now. Grimacing, he chose not to dwell on it. Instead, chose to inspect the enchantments.

The first one:

[Ethereal Manifestation: Allows the user or the clock or both to be invisible]

It was just as he expected, he chose to inspect the second one:

[Translucent Domain: Creates a mini domain around a specific circumference from a radius relative to the host]

A domain!!!. He had heard about those. It wasn't just anything one would know how to do. And here he was getting a free domain?!. A domain was supposed to be a legacy skill only possessed by the strongest. Just as the name insinuated, one would be invincible inside a particular radius around him. He squinted his eyes.

‘Something just doesn't seem right’

It just seems to good to be true.

And lastly, he had questions. One that bugged him really well. Eating through his curious nerves like locusts.

Who were The Forbidden? Who were they trying to get revenge on? And how was it tied to the cloak?.

Haruto grimaced.

‘Why? Just why were so many questions left unanswered?’

Haruto's face twitched a little. Truth was, he really wanted to know the truth. But sometimes, some things were better left unknown. And this…this wasn't an exception. He believed so. His guts warned him of the dangers of knowing too much. But, all the same, he somehow knew he had no choice.

Sighing, Haruto stood up. He didn't dismiss the cloak, he chose to make only it invisible. Then he went out, to complete his daily quests….and then more…

It wasn't that hard for Haruto to complete his daily quests as he already had an idea of what he'll be doing and where he'll be landing, especially on that particular quest to find corals. It was tasking, but this time, he wasn't plunging himself into the unknown. During the free fall though, he still felt nauseous, this was just his second time experiencing it after all!!. ‘Damn it! Damn it all’ More importantly, he was especially careful to not leave the street of where the Sentinels were located. He still hadn't forgotten about how the darkness had almost devoured him the previous dusk, the feeling of utter powerlessness and the high probability of being plucked by death with what he thought to not take more than one move. Remembering it, he shivered slightly. What were the chances that whoever was lurking in the thick darkness that night, had not placed a kind of mystic tracking device on him without him knowing? He had an answer already…Zero!!. So, he really didn't take

What's with this old man?!’ He got over to where the man was. Then he crouched beside the rusted weight of the gas cylinder, slid his fingers under the lid and tried to lift it. ‘What the hell?!!’ Haruto stared at the man with horror and awe, how could he carry this massive thing without so much as an expression of over strain written on his face?!. The damn thing was as heavy as a boulder. Let alone carrying it, Haruto had trouble just lifting it barely some meters above the ground. Yeah….a few rods landed on it while they dragged me here. I looked around slowly….and sighed. Wasn't the sky beautiful? Resting on a wall and staring at the starry sky, wasn't it?. I licked my blood off my bleeding lips. First time tasting blood. What did it taste like again? Sweet? No, metallic. Yeah metallic. My lips curled upward a little…. almost unnoticeably. My whole being vibrated, and…..I could already sense it. Death. It was on it's way. Who would've thought that I would be it's victim today?. ‘I regret it…’ I gritted my teeth and a heavy pain seemed to find solace in my soul. ‘...I regret it!!!’ I groaned a little, a pain that came from shutt

  • My Atomic System    Chapter 2: Death? Again?

[You will now be sent to your world.] ‘What?’ his vision darkened… What's happening? Sal felt immense emptiness. It lingered for a moment. But after some time, he started to feel his surroundings faintly. Strangely, He felt a little comfort and discomfort at the same time. His sense of touch, conflicting itself. The comfort, as he could tell, came from what he was currently sitting on, it was a little foamy. The discomfort on the other hand, was something he couldn't fully understand. Subsequently, his sense of smell kick started itself. At first, he couldn't fully tell what his nose picked up. But after sometime, he recognized it, it was a familiar aroma. Back at home, when he was living with Lily. On one occasion, he had killed three rats so ruthlessly after they ate the little supplies he managed to steal, and left them somewhere around the hut to rot. Sal suddenly felt like throwing up. His mouth opened up without his permission but nothing came out. Still yet, his throat

Memories flashed at intervals, all in smooth and seamless transitions. Memories of past occurrences, of both pain and happiness. However, they soon faded. Lazily, Sal opened his eyes. He could hear a constant buzz of electricity all around him. And the surrounding air reeked of…tech?. Droplets of sweat had formed on his forehead. ‘Am I dead?’ thought Sal. The surroundings seemed rather strange and foreign. It wasn't like what he was normally used to seeing anywhere in the world. He sat up slowly, holding his head and squinting his brows in the process. With one eye closed, he surveyed his current surroundings. ‘Where am I? Where's Lily?’ thought Sal. There was a machine on a table beside the bed he was currently lying on. It had strange uneven lines constantly changing shape but in a uniform direction on its screen. The machine just made a constant beep sound. He wondered what it was used for. There were many sharp objects and large machines —

The nurse approached a ward. As if anxious to meet her patient, she checked her attire a few times before she entered the ward. Huh? Where's Mr Haruto? The nurse stared at the empty bed. She wanted to believe he was in the bathroom but there was not a single sound of water. Suddenly, her eyes rounded up into circles. What if?... “Mr Haruto!!” The nurse dropped the tray in her hand. She quickly pressed the emergency button on the wall. “Patient 05, ward 10 has left the hospital!!!” The nurse cried out in alarm. *** Sal attracted multiple gazes and toured the streets of Tokyo. “Is he mad?” “I think so” “You don't see this in Tokyo all the time” Sal totally ignored their whispers. He didn't have a hard time sneaking out of the hospital. All in the name of going out to check something, he left. Though he did know if they'd come for him or NOT. This really doesn't get old. It even looks more beautiful from below here. Sal stared at the tall buildings.

Haruto walked out of his apartment and left the building. His apartment was near the main road, so the constant blowing of horns was deafening . But of course, it was something that shouldn't be taken away, it added liveliness to the city in it's own way. The moment he left the building, a feeling gripped him, one that caged his soul. It was fear!. (Indistinct Whispers). He could hear them, the whispers, it was louder than any other thing. He couldn't actually pick what it was saying. He could just hear it. He stopped and looked back. He could hear his heartbeat, it was loud and though it wasn't that fast, it was pacing up. Seeing only the bustling street and nothing out of the ordinary, he concluded he was just afraid as a result of the series of events that had happened to him lately. Sigh… He resumed his advance. After a while, Gasp!! He halted abruptly and glanced behind him, his pulse racing. What was that just now?!! His heartbeat quickened. He started t

  • Chapter 12: I Can Grow Stronger!

As Haruto walked through the dimly lit hallway, he pondered about everything he'd learnt. It was a whole new set of revelations, never in his life did he dream he would be part of something so big. And 5 million yen?!. His got light headed from thinking about it. Exiting the fleet of stairs, Haruto found himself in a long hallway. He couldn't really see to the end of the hallway. It was dimly lit by just two blue torches unlike the yellow ones below. But, the damn hallway seemed endless!. Haruto continued to walk, all the while, he didn't dare to hasten up his movements for fear of missing a room and entering a wrong one. What's more? With how conspicuous and wild abilities could be, who knew what kind of vicious creatures anyone here could control? He'd really be done for.‘... seventeen, eighteen…nineteen…tw…enty’ Haruto paused. Haruto stuck to Genzi’s back like a bug. He couldn't afford to lose the blonde no matter how much resentment he held towards him right now.‘Damnation’ He could see smoke intrude the air until it looked like a fog in places the blonde passed. People took powdery stuff into their noses. What's more? they smoked strange objects into their lungs in insane quantities. ‘Aren’t they literally frying their lungs?!’ Back on homeworld, only the King and his advisors were allowed the privilege of smoking, even so in very small quantities and special types of whatever they smoked that would cause little to no harm. Haruto sighed and looked forward to follow…Haruto’s face twitched.‘Goddamnit!! He's gone!’ His heart beat quickened almost instantly. Looking at him with irritation and malice, the towering man said in a deep voice:“I don't like being kept waiting” ‘Damn it!’ Haruto gritted his teeth in regret. ‘What’s with me and making wrong choices?
