The enormous crystal chandeliers dimmed slightly as the grand stage lights flooded the elevated marble platform at the center of the luxurious hall. A tall man in a perfectly tailored charcoal suit walked confidently to the golden podium. His name was Stefano, the official master of ceremonies for the entire Segreto Corporation. He tapped the slim silver microphone twice, and the crowd of wealthy guests immediately fell into respectful silence.

His thick powerful legs buckled completely. He dropped to both knees on the hard cold hospital floor with a heavy painful thud. Derek collapsed beside his father, pressing his bruised swollen forehead against the white tiles."Please forgive us." Victor's voice shook with pure absolute terror. His massive shoulders trembled violently as he clasped his hands together in desperate prayer. "I am begging you. Please do not destroy my family. I will do anything you ask.""I was completely blind and stupid." Derek sobbed into the floor, his split lip smearing blood across the clean white tiles. "Please have mercy on us. I will never disrespect you or anyone close to you ever again for the rest of my life.""Everything I own is yours if you want it." Victor pressed his forehead down to the cold floor. "Every building. Every contract. My entire life. Just please call it off before sunrise."The hallway fell into absolute dead silence.Caroline's bright smile melted completely off her face. Ev

Elena stood at the tall window of her dark office, watching Victor and Derek rush toward their car in the empty parking lot below. She pressed her phone against her ear."You have exactly two hours." Elena's voice carried no warmth at all. "This mercy is a gift you absolutely do not deserve. If you fail to earn his forgiveness, I will carry out the full destruction order without a single second of hesitation.""Two hours is all I need." Victor's desperate voice crackled through the speaker as his car engine roared to life."Do not mistake my pause for kindness." Elena ended the call and placed her phone gently on the glass desk. These fools have no idea how lucky they are to even have a chance to breathe right now.At the hospital, the private room was quiet and warm. Darius sat in a chair beside Carina's bed, watching the steady green line on the heart monitor. Her fever had finally broken an hour ago. The color was slowly returning to her pale cheeks. He turned his head slowly toward his son, who was still sprawled on the floor rubbing his bruised chest. Blind uncontrollable rage exploded across Victor's face."You disgusting worthless fool!" Victor lunged at Derek, grabbing him by the collar and slamming his fist into his son's jaw. "You did this! Your filthy hands and your filthy mouth just sentenced our entire family to complete annihilation!""Father, stop!" Derek raised his arms weakly, trying to shield his face from the repeated blows."You laughed about that girl kneeling in the rain!" Victor's fist connected again, splitting Derek's lip open. "You threatened a man who could erase our entire bloodline with a single phone call! You are absolute dirt, and your stupidity just destroyed everything I built!"Derek curled into a tight ball on the marble floor, blood trickling from his nose and lip. The arrogant smirk from hours earlier had completely vanished, replaced by pure sobbing terror."Please stop, Father." Derek's voice c

The Segreto Corporation headquarters stood completely dark against the night sky, every window black except for a single glowing office on the top floor. Victor Lawson stepped out of his car at exactly three in the morning, straightening his jacket with confident irritation. Derek trailed behind him, still wearing the smug satisfied smirk from his earlier encounter in the rain."This better be about the downtown construction contract." Victor muttered, striding through the empty marble lobby. "Nobody drags me out of bed at this hour for anything less important."The elevator carried them up in silence. Derek checked his reflection in the polished metal doors, adjusting his collar with lazy arrogance."That pathetic dirt boy actually thought he could threaten us tonight." Derek chuckled under his breath. "He should be thanking me for even considering his little beggar girlfriend."They stepped into Elena's office. She sat behind her massive glass desk, her face carved from stone. Witho

Just quiet absolute certainty."You are a delusional little servant playing pretend." Derek forced his cruel smirk back onto his face, though his voice wavered slightly. "Enjoy your last few nights of freedom, dirt boy."He climbed back into his sports car and sped off through the flooded street, leaving a wave of dirty water in his wake.Darius lifted Carina into his arms and carried her to his car. His heart slammed hard against his ribs.Carina lay collapsed on the ground, her expensive dress ruined and clinging to her freezing skin. Her makeup had washed away completely, leaving only pale trembling lips and closed eyes. Her knees were raw and bleeding, scraped open from hours pressed against the rough concrete.Darius dropped to the ground beside her instantly. He gathered her limp shivering body into his arms."Carina." He shook her gently, his voice tight with barely controlled panic. "Open your eyes right now."Her eyelids fluttered weakly. A faint whimper escaped her blue trembling lips."You are an absolute fool for coming here alone." Darius stripped off his heavy coat and wrapped it tightly around her freezing frame. His hands moved fast despite the tremor running through them."I did not want to be a bu
