"How dare you Hogan, just because you are my best hunter doesn't mean you disrespect me" master duke said.
Riley stood there watching silently.
"You've been going on and on about this bot ever since you saw him defeat those monsters...all I can say that it is by luck except he is hiding something from us" Hogan said with anger.
Riley was feeling uneasy as he didn't want master duke to suspect he has system ability, a strange ability that no one has ever seen.
"I told you guys, it's luck...and besides I have been training" Riley said calmly.
"Well why don't you prove it here and now" Hogan said.
"How?" Riley asked.
"I challenge you to a duel right now" Hogan voices out and immediately all the remaining hunters and the remaining masters gathered around
"Hogan, that's enough!" Master duke voiced out.
"What Riley? Are you scared?" Hogan said. All the remaining hunters began to laugh.
"The mission we're preparing for is a dangerous mission...we are going to another dimension where the monsters live...Riley is going to need more than luck to survive there" Hogan said with a dark smile.
"I accept your challenge" Riley said with confidence and the whole became silent. Everyone was shocked that risky would dare to go up against hogan their best fighter.
"Riley you don't have to do this" master duke said calmly.
"I have no choice" Riley said calmly before stepping forward and the whole place began to cheer both of them.
Riley is a dead meat, he stands no chance.
A tense silence filled the training ground as Riley and Hogan stood facing each other. The air buzzed with anticipation and every hunter present had their eyes locked in the two fighters.
Hogan smirked, rolling his shoulders as flames danced around his clenched fist. His elemental ability, combined with his super speed made him one of the strongest hunters under master Duke's mentorship.
Meanwhile, Riley remained calm. The system was analyzing everything, Hogan's stance, muscle move and attack patterns.
"ANALYSIS COMPLETED"
Weakness identified: overconfidence. Pattern detected: 78 percent predictability in attacks.
Riley exhaled." Alright, if I just follow the system instructions...I can do this" he muttered to himself.
"Come on, weakling," Hogan sneered."Let's see if that luck holds up!" He voiced out.
Without warning, Hogan charged at Riley, he was fast. Before Riley could react, BOOM!
A devastating punch crashed into Riley's chest, launching him backward like a ragdoll. His body smashed against the stone wall, cracking it on impact.
The hunters erupted in cheers.
"That's our best hunters!"
"He didn't even stand a chance!"
"Riley should've never accepted this fight!"
Akira, watching from the sidelines, remained silent. There's something different about Riley...
Hogan didn't give Riley time to breathe. He flashed forward, flames erupting from his palms as he unleashed a lot of fiery punches. Each hit landed perfectly, sending Riley tumbling across the dirt.
Riley gritted his teeth, forcing himself to his feet. His body ached, but something inside him refused to go down.
The system is still calculating, "I just need to wait for the right moment" Riley said in his thoughts.
Hogan let out a dark smile.
"Is that all you got, boy?" Where's your luck now?" He voiced out mockingly.
The other hunters laughed.
Master duke watched silently, his eyes narrowing.
Hogan summoned his sword, Infusing it with crackling energy. The blade pulsed with elemental power, glowing bright orange as heat radiated off it.
"It's over!" Hogan roared as he swung the sword at Riley's head.
And then, something changed.
"DANGER LEVEL: HIGH. EVASION MODE ACTIVATED"
Suddenly, Riley's body moved on its own. He stepped aside at the last second, the blade slicing through empty air.
"What?!" Hogan's eyes widened
Riley's reflexes were sharper. His vision was clearer.
"LIGHTNING REFLEXES ACTIVATED" the system said.
Hogan attacked again, but Riley dodged every strike effortlessly.
The crowd's cheers turned into shocked whispers.
"How is he dodging Hogan's attacks?"
"He was getting destroyed a second ago!"
"Did he suddenly get stronger?"
Hogan gritted his teeth. "This bastard....is he playing with me?" He said in his mind.
He increased his speed, his blade flashing in multiple directions.
But Riley saw everything.
The system was his guide line.
"LEFT SWING INCOMING. COUNTER WITH RIGHT DODGE. FLAME PUNCH AT 65 DEGREE ANGLE. DUCK NOW. LOW SWEEP INCOMING. JUMP."
"HOGAN'S ATTACK PATTERN: 92 PERCENT ANALYZED" the system said to Riley.
Riley moved like a shadow, fluid and untouchable. And then, he struck Hogan.
CRACK!
A well placed punch landed squarely on Hogan's ribs, sending him flying backward.
The crowd gasped.
Did Riley just land a hit on Hogan?"
Hogan growled in frustration. His pride was wounded.
"You little..." His aura flared as he channeled pure energy into his sword.
"This ends now!" Hogan roared.
He swung downward with all his power, a direct hit like this could end the duel instantly.
But Riley wasn't there anymore.
In a blue of motion, Riley sidestepped, the sword slamming into the ground, causing the entire battlefield to shake. A massive crack split the earth, sending dust flying.
The crowd staggered back, shielding their faces. Hogan barely had time to react before .
BAM!
Riley's fist, charged with raw power, collided with Hogan's chest, sending him flying across the training field. He crashed into the dirt, rolling several times before stopping.
Everyone froze. Hogan the academy's strongest recruit was on the ground.
Panting and shaking. The silence was awkward.
"What....just happened?" One of the hunters whispered.
"Hogan got hit? By Riley?" They were all shocked.
Even master Duke's expression shifted m his sharp eyes focused on Riley with new found interest.
