“Going for some fresh air, Mr. Ethan?” the man standing behind the reception display case smiled mysteriously at Ethan.
Ethan glanced at the person. A young man in his twenties. He stood tall in white clothes and a black suit. A different person to the one Ethan met when he previously entered the Gold Hotel.
With slow steps Ethan approached the person. His eyes narrowed slightly, wary of this person. “Do you know my name?”
The receptionist nodded. “Mr. Jim told me about you.”
Jim was the receptionist who had greeted Ethan earlier. He must have also told this young man that Ethan was a former Demon Hunter. Thus making him friendly to Ethan.
Ethan glanced at the name tag on his chest. “Jason... Jim taught you well, Jason.”
Jason gave a small smile. He bowed his head in respect. “Thank you. Maybe you haven't remembered, but I'm still alive thanks to Mr. Ethan. I almost fell prey to a Wendigo a few years ago, but Mr. Ethan came and killed the Wendigo.”
Ethan gave a small nod. He really didn't remember when it happened. Moreover, Ethan had fought the wendigo several times in the mine on the edge of Silverhaven town. Jason must have been a resident who previously lived near that area.
Ethan then turned around and was about to leave. However, Jason called out to him again. Ethan turned around.
Jason pulled out a silver knife. “Mr. Ethan, I heard that you had many encounters with creepy creatures. Please accept this as a gift from me for saving me.”
Ethan looked at the silver knife. The knife looked pretty good. It looked like Jason used a lot of money to make this knife.
Ethan took the knife with a slight smile. “Thank you.”
Jason then said a little. “Enjoy your hunt, Mr. Ethan.”
Ethan didn't respond and turned around. He left the smiling man behind.
Ethan thought that Jason was probably just like Jim. They didn't think that Ethan was retired even though Ethan was no longer a Demon Hunter.
Right now, Ethan just wanted to live as an ordinary citizen. Ethan already had money that would continue to grow every month and a good living. There was no need to work as a Demon Hunter to earn money anymore.
Today Ethan intended to go to a car showroom. Undeniably, right now Ethan needed a vehicle to do things. However, just as he walked outside the hotel, a luxury Lambo approached and stopped in front of him. Piers got out of the car and came up to Ethan. “Good morning, Mr. Ethan Hunter.”
Ethan nodded with a frown. Piers' presence in this place was unexpected by Ethan. Whereas previously Ethan had said he would not return to the Hunters Organization.
Piers then opened the car door. “Mr. Ethan, is there somewhere you want to go? I can take you.”
With sure steps, Ethan got into the car. Piers then closed it, then he got into the driver's seat.
Piers tried to be as calm as possible, but he couldn't control his racing heartbeat. He had seen how strong Ethan was, of course he couldn't be careless.
Piers used a friendly tone. “Mr. Ethan, what place do you want to go?”
Ethan looked out the window. “The nicest car showroom.”
Piers carved a smile on his face. “Ah, you finally decided to start using your money. I'm sure the person who dumped you will regret having abandoned a great person like you.”
Ethan immediately glanced sharply at the rearview mirror. He didn't like it when anyone brought up Thalia Blake again in his presence. The glance instantly made Piers pale, realizing that he had misspoken.
Piers averted his eyes and gulped. “Please forgive my words, Mr. Ethan.”
Ethan slowly turned his gaze back. He looked back at the streets of Silverhaven city that he hadn't enjoyed for three years. Ethan's purpose in buying a car was not to show off to Thalia. Let alone make her feel sorry.
The reason was simple, Ethan needed a vehicle for future mobility. There came a time when Ethan also needed to get out of the hotel and meet new people in his life as an ordinary citizen.
Ethan took a breath. “You came to me. Why?”
Piers felt Ethan's question deepen. He sensed a tense atmosphere. The charisma possessed by Ethan was gripping enough even for a strong person like Piers.
Piers needed to catch his breath. Then after a few seconds he exhaled softly. “There are things you should know, Mr. Ethan. It's about the Hunters Organization...”
Ethan frowned. “I have no intention of becoming a Demon Hunter or part of the Hunters Organization.”
Piers nodded his head. “Well, I can understand that, Mr. Ethan. However, there is a big problem that you need to know. All of this is about Cornellia Bridgit who you previously defeated.”
The name Cornellia Bridgit immediately caught Ethan's attention. “Tell me what happened.”
Piers calmly lowered the speed. He focused on the story he was about to tell. “As you know, Cornellia Bridgit is a vampire. More surprisingly, Cornellia turned out to be a descendant of vampire royalty. After you killed Cornellia Bridgit at the Hunters Organization base, the vampires have taken revenge. There were about 50 Demon Hunters dead hunted by the vampires in Silverhaven city. Chances are, they are looking for you, Mr. Ethan.”
Piers then took out four boxes containing bullet packs made by the Hunters Organization. Then he handed them to Ethan. “I'm not inviting you to the Hunters Organization, or even to return to being a Demon Hunter. However, please accept these to protect yourself if the vampires come.”
Ethyan narrowed his eyes slightly. It had been thought that one day Ethan would definitely encounter monsters or creatures of darkness. That was why he took his weapon at the Hunters Organization base. However, Ethan did not expect that he would be targeted by creatures of darkness so soon.
Ethan took the bullets. Inevitably he needed to prepare himself to once again act as a Demon Hunter even though he was no longer tied to the organization.
A few minutes later, Piers' car stopped in the parking lot of a showroom that had expensive vehicles. Piers saw that the clothes worn by Ethan were very simple, not portraying Ethan as a person with money. “Mr. Ethan, would you like me to come inside this showroom?”
Ethan opened the car door. “No need. Thank you for the bullets.”
Ethan closed the car door. Then he coldly walked towards the showroom building.
In front of the showroom, Ethan was immediately stopped by security because the metal detector sounded. The security guard, who had an unfriendly face, frowned. “Take out all your stuff!”
Ethan clucked his tongue. He hadn't expected a metal detector in this place. When Ethan put down his things, the security guard was surprised to see that there were bullets and military knives there. He immediately restrained Ethan's hands. “Don't move! You're carrying suspicious objects!”
Ethan calmly raised both hands. “The knife and bullets were a gift from my friend. They're not dangerous objects.”
The security guard didn't believe him. “Shut up! Put your hands on the table!”
Ethan followed suit. The security guard began to search Ethan's pockets. However, the unexpected happened. The security guard immediately took out handcuffs and put them on Ethan's hands.
Ethan, who was surprised by the actions of the security guard, turned to him. “Why am I in handcuffs?”
In a quick glance, Ethan could see that the security guard had a smile on his face, and his eyes were black. Ethan could immediately understand what was happening. This security guard was a subordinate of a creature of darkness. He knew that Ethan was a Demon Hunter from the items he was carrying.

Chapter 44
Freya brought a glass of Ginger Ale to Ben who had been pacing restlessly by the window. Slowly, she placed the drink on the table before turning to her father. However, Ben remained glued to the windowpane, his eyes full of anxiety as if hoping Ethan would appear at any moment. The wound on his arm was still gaping, but the worry in his chest far outweighed the pain.Freya stepped closer, hesitating for a moment before gently touching Ben's shoulder. “Dad, calm down. Mr. Ethan will help you,” she said, trying to channel a bit of calm through her words. However, Ben just shook his head, his breathing heavy as if he was holding something inside his chest. “You don't know what's in there, Freya,” his voice was lower, almost a murmur. “Those Wendigo's are different than before.”Ben clenched his hands, his jaw hardening as his mind drifted back to what he'd seen in the mine. He looked back at the window, his gaze filled with a fear he couldn't hide. “Lord Ethan is in a life-and-death sta

Ethan raised his revolver quickly, the barrel aimed right at the head of the green Wendigo still bound in chains. But something wasn't right.Ethan's eyes widened, his chest tightened. The Wendigo's right hand that should have vanished... reappeared. The flesh crawled, sticking to itself like an upside-down wound. The white bone protruded first, followed by the rapidly spreading muscle fibers. The black blood that should have flowed out was now reabsorbed, as if there had never been a wound there.Ethan gritted his teeth, his breath hitching. His fingers tightened on the revolver's handle, almost pulling the trigger involuntarily. A disgusting sound rang out as the Wendigo's skin fused back together. And within seconds... his hand was back in one piece.“No way...”Ethan's voice was almost a whisper. His eyes were still glued to the creature, his brain trying to digest something that shouldn't have happened. The wendigo could regenerate.Without thinking, Ethan pulled the trigger. Two

“A Demon Hunter like you? How could...,” Ben's words trailed off. He knew how strong Ethan was. He had seen it himself-how this man stood unwavering despite being shotgunned, how he kept moving forward despite being thrown molotovs. But his eyes were now fixed on something different. The blood seeping from Ethan's stomach. Ben's breath caught. Slowly, he raised his gaze, looking directly into Ethan's face. There was something in the man's eyes-something Ben had never seen before. Doubt. “You... who can't be pierced by bullets, who doesn't even falter in fire... could be hurt by that thing?”Ethan was silent. His jaw hardened slightly. He hated this fact, but he knew there was no point in denying it. Slowly, he nodded.Ben swallowed. If Ethan could get hurt, then... what could anyone else do?Ethan took a deep breath. His voice was low, but there was something in it-weight, certainty, and an inviolable truth. “You need to get out.”Ben remained silent. Inside his chest, a battle betwee

“Damn it.” Ethan swore, his eyes blazing with pent-up anger. His jaw muscles hardened as he turned slowly towards Ben, his gaze so intense that it made the man pause for a moment.Ben frowned, hesitation clear on his face. His eyebrows rose, his voice sounding slightly rushed. “Mr. Ethan, let's take him out. Put him in the room with Jared. We can find an antidote for them!”Ethan didn't answer right away. With a quick movement, he stood up and grabbed Ben by the collar, pulling him a little closer. His gaze dropped to the man's hand-a shabby bandage of cloth covering a wound that should have been properly treated.“Your hand...” His voice was low, almost a threatening whisper. His crimson eyes stared at the wound like they wanted to pierce the cloth that wrapped it.Ethan took a deep breath, holding back his annoyance. “I told you, get out of this cave.”Ben swallowed, his left hand trembling slightly as he reached under his shirt and pulled out a flare gun. Chapter 39
The wendigo groaned, its hoarse voice echoing through the air, almost like a fusion of a wolf's howl and a tortured human scream. Its thin, towering body bent over slightly, its long claws gripping the wet ground. He could not see clearly, but he did not need to. Its black nostrils flared, inhaling the air deeply, searching for traces of scent in the surroundings. The smell of gunpowder... sharp, burning his sense of smell. It mixed with the sweat and blood of the human in front of him-not prey, but a threat. It's head turned quickly towards Ethan, as if he had just realized something. It's long, ragged ears twitched, detecting every slightest movement. The atmosphere felt increasingly oppressive, like the breath of death hanging in the air.Ethan tilted his head slowly, his movements barely visible. He knew the Wendigo couldn't guess his steps if he moved silently. With a controlled breath, he raised the revolver, aiming steadily at the monstrous creature in front of him. However, so
