2024-04-04 23:33:55The girl stood up and glared at Bryan. She was a beautiful girl with long black hair that was tied into two messy low pigtails. She had a fringe just above her blue eyes, her body was fair and slim. She seemed to be exuding an almost haughty aura.
“Hey! Why the hell did you throw me!?” the girl asked Bryan in an irritated tone.
Bryan who had once stood on the battlefield and defeated level 3 metahumans, fought six strong soldiers without a tinge of worry on his face, was now very much worried. He didn't know what to say in a situation such as this, he didn't even know how to have a dialogue with people as he's always been excommunicated from almost everyone who came across him. Now he has to talk this girl whom he already wronged? Besides, this was not just an ordinary girl, she's the only daughter of the Secretary of Defense! This is a great headache.
'I can't believe I'm going to fail my very first covert mission. I have to do something.'
“Sorry Ma'am, for throwing you. It was an accident.”
“Ma'am? Why are you talking that way? Huh! Shit! I'm going to be late!” the girl wanted to say something more, but suddenly remembered that she was going to be late for class.
“Fine! Then I will accept you apology weirdo, since I have no time to spare.” the girl continued and then sprinted away without waiting for Bryan's reply.
Bryan stood there dumbfounded by the whole situation, but then he also suddenly remembered something; the mission. This girl was the one who was supposedly in danger, or perhaps going to be, which was why he was sent here to secretly be her bodyguard.
'So that's the girl I need to protect at all cost.. fine then, let the mission start.' Bryan sprinted forward immediately, catching up with the girl. He jogged exactly one meter behind her, the girl being in a hurry didn't notice that Bryan had already caught up.
When the two reached the school grounds and the girl headed towards her classroom, Bryan tried to follow her but when he saw that her classroom was Tech-class B, he stopped and looked at his memo, it was written there that he was assigned to Tech-class A. He immediately made a phone call to Major Cutthroat.
“Private Grayson! Did you get to the school properly!?” these were the first words Major Cutthroat asked Bryan when he picked up the phone.
“Affirmative Sir! I reached the designated place on time!” Bryan replied with an air of a military soldier.
“So then what's the matter!? Are you not supposed to be in class now!?” Major Cutthroat asked a bit irritated.
“Yes Sir! But I ran into a little problem!” Bryan replied. When Major Cutthroat heard Bryan say the word 'Problem' his face immediately became serious.
“Did you kill someone already!?” Major Cutthroat asked with a bit of apprehension in his tone.
“Negative! I have not used lethal force as of now!” Bryan replied. When Major Cutthroat heard Bryan's answer, he sighed in relief.
“So then, what's the problem!?” Major Cutthroat asked, but this time he was even more apprehensive than before. If Bryan has not killed anyone yet, so what's the problem? Could it be that he booby trapped the entire school and can't deactivate it? So many thoughts swirled around Major Cutthroat's head.
“The target I am tasked to protect is situated in Tech-class B, while I'm in Tech-class A. Requesting permission to threaten the Chancellor into placing me in Tech-class B, Sir!”
“What! No! Rejected!” Major Cutthroat almost dropped the phone at what Bryan just said. It didn't come as a surprise to him as Private Grayson had always been weird, perhaps because of the fact he shut himself from the world and immersed his entire being into the world of military. Two years in the boot camp can make a crazy man even crazier. He knew all about Bryan Grayson's past.
“Then can I use force and enter Tech-class B!?”
“No!”
“Can I use a drone to monitor Tech-class B!?”
“No!” Major Cutthroat said, exasperated at the young soldier's ideas.
“Then what can I do now Sir! How can I protect the target when she's in another class and away from my line of vision!?” Bryan asked a bit confused and annoyed. Why could they not just make it smooth for him? Besides it's not even a system registered mission, so he's certainly not getting any contribution points for this mission.
Sigh!
Bryan heard Major Cutthroat sigh and also heard something like drumming of the fingers on a desk. He waited for the next order.
“Stand down soldier, I will handle this, just give me a minute.” Major Cutthroat then started to make some phone calls, and after a few minutes, he called Bryan back.
“There, it's done, you just need to wait and a teacher will be there.” just right after Major Cutthroat said so, a teacher who was running frantically arrived in front of Bryan.
“Bryan Grayson?” the man asked.
“Yes, that's me.” Bryan replied.
“Follow me, I am your new homeroom teacher David Lorand.” the guy calling himself Bryan's homeroom teacher was an average looking person who was a head shorter than Bryan, who stood at 172cm.
David looked at Bryan warily, since the old grumpy Chancellor actually ran to the teacher's lounge looking for him, telling him that an important student was waiting in the hallway. David was now wondering what kind of an identity Bryan had to make the prideful old grump act that way.
“Please wait here while I introduce you to the class.” David said and entered the classroom, while the door was opened Bryan heard noisy inside of the classroom.
“Everyone, sit down, I will be introducing a new friend to you all.” when David said those lines, the entire class students started whispering.
“A transfer student?”
“I thought Tech-class A was getting a transfer student, were there two of them!?”
“I wonder what kind of person the transfer student will be like.”
“Ahem.. Bryan, please come in and introduce yourself.” David interrupted the students rants.
Bryan entered the class, and once he did, a female student stood up and shouted.
“Huh!? It's the weirdo!”
And thus Bryan's first covert mission began.
