Yet, Another Failure

Max's heart began to beat rapidly again and he quickly withdrew his hand and turned around slowly.  Upon seeing the person who had just walked in, he subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief and did an imaginary sign of the cross.

"Oh, it's you? What are you doing here by this time?" Max asked the person who in turn gazed at him in confusion.

"Am I not the one supposed to be asking you that?" The boy asked in return and walked to the bed. After checking Nat's body and making sure he was fine, he turned to Max and stared deeply at him. "Now tell me, what are you doing here and by this time?"

"I-..... Of course, I came to see him. I don't know what happened to him or who did this to him so I thought it would be nice if I visit him," Ma replied, sounding in the best of his cool.

"At night?" The boy asked with a raised brow. Why would he come at night time to see Nat?! It's very suspicious, however, he could not accuse the boy yet and so he decided to calm down.

"Yes, I wasn't free the whole day, I just got free and I rushed down here to see him," Max replied. The boy kept quiet, Max's explanation seemed logical and there was no way he would disagree. He trailed his eyes down Max's hand and stared at his wristwatch, '0.9!' he thought inwardly with a look of disappointment on his face. It's no wonder Nat picks on him every day.

Seeing the boy's gaze on the wristwatch in his hand, Max could not help but feel ashamed of himself, he placed his hand inside of his pockets immediately and made to leave when the boy stopped him.

"Do you think that I do not know what you are up to?" The boy asked causing Max to take a step backwards.

'What does he mean?' Max asked inwardly still staring at the boy. 'Did he see through me? Or he is just assuming?'

"Surprised right?" The boy's voice brought Max out of his thoughts, he looked up and studied the boy's face. The boy didn't seem to be guessing at all and this meant only one thing.....Max has been caught! " Don't be scared yet, I won't tell Kelvin."

'Huh,' Max thought inwardly, he was surprised by what the boy said, why wouldn't he tell Kelvin about it.

"What I don't understand is why you still want to harm him even when he is still unconscious," the boy said with a raised brow as he stared deeply into Max's eyes as if trying to find some answers or whatever.

"About that...I didn't intend to harm him, but I-" Max paused on his words and stared back at the boy who was waiting to hear what he had to say. Seeing the eagerness in the boy's eyes, he could not help but chuckle inwardly. "I-I wanted to..." Before he could finish his statement, they both heard footsteps approaching the room.

"It's Kelvin! Hey, you have to hide or else I'm doomed and that applies to you as well," the boy hurriedly said to Max and he began to look around the room. Finding a good spot, he dragged Max by the ankle and pushed him down, "Quick! Hide under the bed and don't you dare come out unless he's gone,", he warned Max sternly before pushing him under the bed. Standing up, he took a sit on the chair close to the bed and calmed himself immediately.

The door of the room opened and Kelvin with a boy behind him came inside and walked to the bed. 

" Harry, I thought I heard some noises from here?" Kelvin asked, looking around the room.

"I don't think so, it could be from the next room," The boy Harry replied, he was calmed and collected making it difficult to find anything wrong with him.

"Okay, how's Nat? Any improvement yet?" Kelvin asked rather, not wanting to dwell on the issue. He walked to Nat and touched his body as he examined him carefully.

"Not yet, still as before," Harry replied and let out a sigh.

"Hmmm, he'll soon wake up and when he does he'll tell us who the hell did this to him. If it happens to be Max, I'll kill him instantly."

Max upon hearing what Kelvin said gulped and held his now abnormal beating heart, it didn't sound like an empty threat and here he was hiding under the chair. 'What if he finds me under here?' Max thought inwardly and just thinking of what could happen to him made him realise how dead he was going to be.

"Ouch!" Max suddenly grumbled almost yelling out, he felt something pinch him lightly on his butt but it was a bit painful. He tried turning around to see what was that, but his head brushed against the bed causing some sounds to be heard.

"What is that noise?" Kelvin asked looking around the room. Harry who also heard the sound gulped in fear and abruptly stood up.

"It could be outside, let's go check it out," He said pointing towards the door, the other boy that came in with Kelvin stared at him cautiously. He had never behaved the way he was doing right now and it rose his suspiciousness.

"Harry, are you okay? You are acting strange," The boy said causing Kelvin to also stare intently at Harry.

"How is that possible Matt?" Kelvin turned and asked the boy. "I don't see anything wrong with him, it could be your eyes deceiving you."

Harry let out an imaginary sigh at what Kelvin said, he glanced over at Matt and glared at him for some time before averting his gaze to Kelvin. "I'm starving here. Let's go eat something, dinner is on me tonight," he said drawing everyone's attention from the current situation. 

It was likely that they haven't eaten anything yet since morning and so their stomach grumbled at the mention of food. They quickly left the room after making sure that Nat was fine.

"That was so close right?" Max mumbled as he crawled out of the bed, he had waited patiently until the boys have long gone before coming out from his hiding. He opened his hand and glared at the tiny ant on his palm. "You dare cause me trouble huh? You dare cause your father trouble, right? I'll crush every bit of life from you so that in your next life you won't think of attacking my butt!"
