He shrieked. He wasn't going to transform, not in front of his half-sister.

[This is bullshit] He thought he hit his head too hard.

His stomach went in knots. He had the urge to roll up in fear. His hand clenched on the hospital bed rail and Doreen caught him before he fell off.

He screamed. Her hands felt like fire again.

"What is it?"

"I just need to go to the bathroom." He pushed her aside and stumbled to the door, suddenly he felt like he did not have any bones. The doorframe was slippery.

The doctor had half a mind to bring one of those portable toilets. Maks groaned with bloodshot eyes.

"Bad." He mentioned.

The doctor let him out because a nurse was there to escort him.

The doctor turned back to her again, he looked very nervous "Ma'am, it's hard to say but... your son doesn't have any bones."

Wham* She slapped him.

***

[Transformation in 0.02hours]

"Hold on" He gruffed and his legs wobbled.

The nurse raised an eyebrow.

"I need some privacy." He went inside and shut the door.

"Okay?" The nurse drawled as her eyes rolled aside uneasily.

He pressed his back against it, looked heavenwards and he heaved a sigh. He turned around gazing at his fingers on the door, they appeared pink and gooey. He nearly hurled after what he saw. Heart pumping, he peed himself too at the appalling image.

He never experienced this before.

[Transformation complete!]

Lights flashed and he blinked at the bathroom lights becoming brighter again. Everything was white. He wormed through the big white space and winced at the large brown trench.

Trench? He looked again finding himself in the centre of the bathroom and the "trench" was just a spacing between the tiles.

[Oh damn ]

He perked up at his jelly skin, his tube-in-tube segmented body and his pink skin.

The next moment, he looked down at the white tiled floor at his beaded eyes and mouth with bristle-like hairs.

[Nooooooo!] He screamed and fell over like a reed in the wind.

Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Annelida

Class: Clitellata

Order: Opisthopora

Suborder: Lumbricina

None other than the earthworm!

[Worm?? Victor!!! What have you done to me!!?]

He took long strides, but at lower frequencies over the tiles. Suddenly he picked up a loud bang.

BANG BANG BANG!

It sounded like three canons going off sequentially.

BANG BANG BANG!

No wonder their touches were so lethal, touching earthworms caused a "pressure" response from him as well as (often) a response to the dehydrating quality of the salt on human skin (again toxic to earthworms).

[You call this special? I am going to die]

He crept back to the sink, hiding in the dark from two giant white shoes.

He was losing his human mind when his worm instincts kicked in.

[Burrow! I need a burrow!]

He hid even more carefully as those feet pounded. He shuddered at the mechanical vibrations given how small he was. It was torture for him.

He cringed at the screaming and crying

"Oh god, he was here. I followed him!" She cried pointing at the empty bathroom.

[I'm here!] He screamed and shrunk at more feet stepping in. He recognised Doreen's brown heels and crawled closer.

The doctor tried to calm the nurse down, there were no exits for an eighteen-year-old boy to slip through. They were thirty stories high from the ground at the hospital.

Doreen grew angered and she braced her hands on her hips.

"What kind of a hospital is this?!" She pointed and he was starting to sweat.

She sounded angry, he couldn't tell who was talking, the stimuli around him were so intense, their voices were scaling from sopranos to a startling bass like giants.

"He probably could have wandered off." He explained.

"I didn't see him step outside!" The nurse said frantically and he looked like he was about to say something rude.

Poor doctor, he was the only one hanging on to logic and it was failing.

"Ma'am, there's no reason to be alarmed, we will find your son."

"Oh, you'll find him good, because if you don't_"

"Mommy." Jessica pulled Doreen's hand and pointed at the stall.

Maks went up the wall to the toilet seat,

[Darn it, stop, fin_ deactivate!] He thought trying to figure out this system game or something.

Doreen's hand swung when Jessica tapped her and her lips parted walking over to the stall.

His eyes expanded at her massive blue eyes and the drool on her lip. Everything was close in his point of view and everywhere darkened at her giant hand reaching down.

[End!] He screamed internally and he magnified in size and his legs plopped on the floor as he turned human.

Jessica was clamping his lips shut when he grew back again and they glanced at him in the stall with her in shock.

"Found Maks!"

"Ow!" He screamed when she poked his eye.

***

Maks winced when the doctor poked him again.

"Does this hurt?" He asked and Doreen tapped her foot impatiently. Furious with the staff.

"Ow, yes, a lot." He pushed the pen away. That unsettling experience cost him several tests and a CT scan_ by the doctor to see if he was okay upstairs.

"Rest now." He recommended and Maks muffled a groan laying back. Sadly he still sustained those sores. He fell back to sleep.

[ It's all a dream and it'll all go away. ]

***

Ten days later,

He heaved a sigh when he looked at his hands and clenched them. He exhaled.

Victor sat on the concrete slab of a ranch with a signboard on it. His dad was a vet and he loved his job and the pay.

He scoffed "You've got to be kidding me."

"I swear." Maks growled "Your jelly bean_"

"Cultivation bean." Victor corrected raising a finger.

He clenched his teeth "You fucking turned me into a worm, Victor, I want out."

It was Victor's turn to be a sceptic, he assumed that this was payback for all he did. "Am I cursed or something? Tell me!"

"Think of all the other things you could be," He teased. "A mouse, hell Maks, even a hippo." then laughed.

"What?" Maks's eyes narrowed. "How do I stop this?"

"You idiot, it doesn't work that way, you need a trigger"

"What trigger?" He asked.

She glanced at a broom by the door perking up and moving in a sweeping motion to gather up the glass. Irma glanced at Teagan who looked shocked. His expression changed. "See?""As dumb as that demonstration was, it's brilliant.""Really?...I mean yes. I'm more genius than any of you give me credit for." He gazed at his fingernails."You can hear them.""Yes." He said smiling proudly. "Okay then, what's he saying?" She asked and he blushed. Maybe she thought the ghost standing there was just a coincidence.Irma winced at the inappropriate words. That was why he wanted to stay as far away from Ares as possible. He lived with assassins too. Irma arrived with Harley in the house of Ares. Irma ducked at the box drifting over her head. "What are those?""Ghost workers, they agreed to work for Ares in death." "Until after death you mean?""They won't be leaving anytime soon, they can keep working for him if they want.""Oh my god. What if some of them try to kill him or you?""They won't. They have a contract." Harley said.Irma shook her head as they explored the house. "So this is where you live?"
