THE WINDSOR'S MANSION

Derek arrived at his soon to be in-laws house, he was welcomed warmly, Victoria was the first to walk up to him.

"Welcome Derek, I'm so glad you decided to visit, however I would like to discuss something private with you if you don't mind?" Victoria requested giving him a signal.

"Of course I miss Margaret." He smiled and followed her to a corner.

Maya could only imagine what's so important that her mother can't say in front of everyone.

"So what did you do?" Victoria asked in haste.

"I don't understand." Derek raised a brow.

"I'm talking about Davin, what did you do to him?"

"Oh, about Davin, his case has been settled." Derek replied with confidence.

"For real? You mean you've finally gotten rid of that wretched man?" Victoria was excited.

"Yes, he's not our problem anymore."

"Wow thank goodness, I know I could rely on You?" Victoria had always wanted a son-in-law that was as rich and powerful as Derek, so she would be able to get rid of anyone in the city who messes with her. Davin had been a pain in her ass for so long, but she was too scared to react so as not to spoil her reputation. But she had to make a deal with Derek to kill him and she'll give her daughter to him as a wife. The whole idea of taking him to the police station was her idea so when he would be set free Derek could have him to himself without any suspicious feeling attracted to them.

"I'll be going to Maya now to miss Margaret." Derek then left and went to Maya.

The two love birds shared a warm hug.

"What was my mother discussing with you? Was it so confidential that she had to drag you to the corner?" Maya couldn't help but ask.

"Or, it's just some business deal horny."

"A business deal?" Maya asked.

"Yeah, nothing serious, just forget about that for now let's go to the dinning, breakfast is served already"

"Right"

All the family sat on the dining table and were having a large breakfast. Everyone was happy and glad that Davin had finally left their family. He was like the stain to them, not any of them could brag about him. Although the table seems bored without him, he was actually the central topic each morning as everyone would start making fun of him.

"It's been a week since Davin left the mansion and I could finally breathe some fresh air, his body odor was really poisonous."

"You're right mum, this is a call for a celebration." Isabella chipped in, the entire family laughed as they enjoyed their meal.

Victoria cleared her throat as she was about to make an announcement. "You'll know that Davin and Maya had been divorce. And it would be only right for me to announce to you all that I will officially announce the date of Derek and Maya's marriage."

"What?" The entire family were in whispers, so sudden although Isabella was extremely happy, having an in-law like Derek was a dream come through. She was fed up with having a wretched brother-in-law like Davin who couldn't afford anything for her, finally she'll have someone she could actually brag about. Having a brother in-law like Derek was a dream come through, she would be a star.

"That's great news, mother." She said excitedly.

But Derek wasn't that pleased with it, although it was also his desire to have a beautiful woman like Maya to be his wife, she'll raise his stats in the city, and especially when she's also from a prestigious family. But the fact that it wasn't his will to get married to her so soon, he needs to take things slowly and think well, he also needed to discuss with his mother.

"So what do you two think about this, Maya and Derek, I'm going to arrange the marriage next week." Victoria asked.

"Hum, I don't have any problem with that as long as Derek agrees with it." Maya replied.

"I appreciate your idea, Miss Magret, but I'll need time to think about it. I still have a lot of things to do before thinking of marriage." Derek said, making everyone think that he didn't really like Maya.

"If you would excuse me, I'll take my leave now." He said before exiting.

Maya felt embarrassed a little, she was used to being the head in a relationship with her experience with Davin. Davin would never oppose her or her mother's will, but guess Derek is on a different level, making her have more interest towards him.

"You shouldn't have said that now, mother." Maya faced her mother.

"What? I was only doing what I'm expected to do, Derek is all we need now to be top in our business and it's only right for me to get  you two married as soon as possible."  Victoria defended.

"I understand your point, but this isn't only about our family's business, this is also our life, my life. You should at least seek our opinions before going ahead to announce it, my opinion matters mother." Maya felt disappointed, she always knew her mother was the greedy type, that only cares about what she would gain in every single situation. Victoria would never agree to anything that would not benefit her one way or the other.

"Maya, what mother did was the best, I also expect you to also put more pressure on her decision and make Derek my brother-in-law as soon as possible." Isabella said.

"Oh will you shut up Isabella? I know you'll support your mother because you also want to benefit from Derek, don't you think it's time for you to find a job by now? Or go get yourself a husband."

Isabella frowned, but Maya wasn't wrong, she was nothing but a spoiled child who depends on her mother for everything, not that she didn't have a boyfriend but he's not someone who could brag about, just some regular dude who has tattoos all over his body.

"I'll be in my room." Maya said leaving the table.

Is she okay?”“Maya,” Davin said, keeping his voice steady. “What are you doing here?”“I came to support my family,” she said, tilting her head slightly. “Isn’t that what family does?”Helen shot Davin a look, and he felt the tension rise between them. “Support?” he echoed, doubt lacing his tone. “Or to make sure everyone knows you’re here?”Maya laughed, a sound that felt more like a challenge. “Oh, come on. I know you’re not happy about my wedding plans, but can we not turn this into a competition? This is about Mom.”“Right. Let’s just focus on her,” Davin said, frustration boiling beneath the surface. “But don’t pretend that you aren’t looking for attention.”“Seriously, Davin?” Maya shot back, her voice sharp. “You think I’m here for a show? I’m worried about her too, you know.”“You have a funny way of showing it,” he replied, crossing his arms.“Enough,” Helen

We need to talk,” she said, her voice tight with anxiety. He looked up, instantly alert. “What’s wrong?”“It’s your mother. I just got a call from the hospital. She’s seriously ill,” Helen said, her words tumbling out in a rush. “They’re flying her out of Arctic City for specialized medication.”Davin’s heart sank. “What do you mean, ‘seriously ill’? What’s going on?”“They didn’t give me all the details, just that she needs immediate treatment,” Helen replied, her eyes brimming with concern. “They’re arranging a private jet to get her to the mainland for the best care.”“Why didn’t they call me?” he asked, rising from the table, the papers scattering as he stood.“I think t

As they finished their ice cream, Mia let out a satisfied sigh, her face smeared with chocolate and mint. Davin couldn’t help but chuckle at her delight. “You’ve got a bit of ice cream on your nose, kiddo,” he teased, reaching over with a napkin.Mia giggled, swiping at her nose with the back of her hand. “It’s part of the experience!” she declared with the seriousness of a gourmet critic. “Then I suppose I’m not allowed to clean you up,” Davin replied, exchanging a knowing glance with Helen. The sun shone brightly overhead, and the market was a riot of colors and sounds. Families milled about, vendors called out their wares, and the laughter of children filled the air. The moment felt suspended in time, a perfect snapshot of happiness that Davin wished could last forever.“Let’s take a stroll down by the river after this,” Helen suggested, finishing her ice cream. “I heard they have a small arts and crafts fair set up along the walkway.”“Great idea! I can’t believe how much fun we had.”“I know! We need to do that more often,” he said, taking another sip of coffee. “It was nice to reconnect.”Helen smiled, the warmth of his words wrapping around her like a cozy blanket. “So, what’s on the agenda for today?
