What Just Happened?

Noah hesitated, then moved to one of the men who were struggling to walk away. Hot anger surged through him. He pulled one up and held a hand around his neck.

“Where is she?”

“What?”

Noah squeezed harder, his anger almost blinding him. “Where is the woman you wanted to take? Where have you taken her to?”

The man struggled to talk.

Seeing this, Noah let him go and he dropped to the floor, coughing severely.

“No, that wasn't us. Though, I saw a man take her away, I promise, that wasn't us. We even thought the man was working for you because he took a lot of your videos.”

Noah felt a cloud of confusion overshadow him. Whom could it be?

“What was he wearing?”

“A suit! Please, let me go!” The man cried.

Noah thought for a moment. Could it have been Adam? Well, Adam wasn't so close to Aria to have helped out.

Well, they might not be close but it doesn't mean they wouldn't save each other. They might not hate themselves to that extent. But then, why would Adam take videos of him?

Well, one way to find out.

Noah took his luggage and flagged down a taxi.

Soon, he arrived at the Giles’ villa.

He dragged his luggage to the front door but despite pressing the bell several times, no one opened up.

Or were they all asleep? It was a few minutes after eight, already past bedtime.

But if Adam truly took Aria, then he should still be awake. So, why was no one opening the door?

Noah dropped his luggage and walked back to the security guard.

“Sorry, is there a way I can enter the house? The door is locked, it looks like everyone is asleep already.”

The security guard squeezed his face. “Asleep? How? They were still here a few minutes ago just as the car was dropping you off. Maybe I should help you call them.”

Noah understood everything instantly. They must have been pretending but he didn't understand why they would do that.

“No, it's fine. I guess they didn't hear me the first time. I will call them some more time,” he assured him and walked back to the front door.

He pressed the bell button again.

Eventually, the door opened. He released a sigh and stepped inside. Maybe they really didn't hear him very well the first time.

“Where do you think you are going!” Mia yelled and almost at the same time, a cold liquid came flying at him, wetting him from his face to his chest.

“After causing trouble for my child, you think you can come here and act nice?”

Noah was confused. “I don't understand what you are talking about ma.”

“You don't, you won't! You this fool!”

“That is why you would disturb the peace of the whole villa by ringing the bell several times.”

“But I was trying to call you to open the door for me.”

“You know what, Noah,” Adrian said suddenly, “I didn't expect you to be so inconsiderate. You are about to marry my daughter and you couldn't even protect her. If it wasn't for Donald, what would have happened to Aria?” he gestured slightly at a man who was slipping a wine in the living room. He was dressed in a suit, matching the description the thug had given Noah.

But who was this Donald?

The man got up swiftly, with a clean smile. “It's actually okay. I only did what was right.”

“Can you see that? Very thoughtful man, unlike you!”

“But I didn't do anything!” Noah defended. “I actually saved Aria from a group of thugs.”

“Liar!” Mia yelled so hard that he was certain everyone had woken up in the whole villa. “I can't believe you are trying to take Donald's effort.”

“How can you lie when Donald told us the truth already? He even had evidence to back it up. There are videos of you fighting!” Adrian stressed.

Everything started to click instantly. Donald was the man Aria’s family was talking about that morning, the one they wanted her to marry so desperately. The reason why Aria had to hire him.

And the funniest part was that it wasn't even Adam that took Aria, it was Donald. Donald must have lied. And yes, he took some videos to back it up.

“But_” Noah started to explain but the slap that landed on his face pulled him to a sudden stop.

“Shut up right there!” Mia snapped. “In fact, leave right now. Your place isn't here. Donald is my daughter's husband, not some lowlife.”

Noah was dumbfounded. There was nothing he could say to convince them.

“Get out and never come back!” Mia angrily forced him against the door, while pushing his luggage with him.

Adrian added force and Noah was shoved out of the door, stumbling onto the porch. Adrian threw his luggage out after him.

Shock kept Noah still for a moment. What just happened?

“Never ever come back here!” Mia yelled and slammed the door shut.

Noah released a sigh before he stood up and made his way out of the villa.

The security guard shook his head in pity as he watched him leave. The Giles family was being mean to the young boy.

Noah however took a cab to a nearby suite. He decided he would call Aria in the morning.

Several rings of the phone jerked Noah out of his sleep. He got up and reached for his phone. It was Aria calling.

He picked it up.

“Where have you been? Why weren't you answering my phone!”

Noah sat up. “Calm down, Aria. I just woke up.”

“What! You just woke up? Why aren't you here? Why didn't you come home last night? Are you about to run away after collecting half of the payment?”

Noah was full of confusion. “I don't understand what you are saying.”

“Grandfather is very angry right now. How could you back out despite our conclusion? You didn't even come home to begin with. What's your plan? Make sure you come home today or I will get back to you at all means!” The last statement was said in a threat before the phone went off.

Noah was amused. The Giles families were great manipulators. How could they even lie to Aria that he didn't come home at all, when he came but they chased him out?

However, he had a lot fixed for the day anyway. He would see Aria's issue later.

Right now, he needed to meet with Jennifer.

Only three people in the city owned the VIP black Alpha card from Heritage Bank. The President, Leonardo, and Alaric heir. But who would have thought the son of Alaric would come to his restaurant that night? And an ordinary waiter couldn't even recognise the famous Alaric Cedric!“But sir, the card was declined. I swiped it and it didn't even recognise it,” the waiter explained.“This is why you need to be extra careful whenever you are at work. This isn't a regular card,” he continued, his voice dropping into something edged. “It's encrypted. You don't swipe it, you authenticate it.”Encrypted? What does that mean?Martin didn't answer immediately. Instead, he took the machine from him with controlled patience, like someone correcting a costly mistake. Then, he placed the card flat against the reader.A soft beep cut through the silence.Everyone froze.Martin's eyes flicked to the screen. For a moment, he just stared, then a smile spread across his face.“Payment of forty-five thou

“Yes, sure. His order is $45,000.”Richard's throat went dry. His lips parted, but no words came out first. He dragged a hand down his face forcing himself to breathe as every eye in the room turned towards him. “Who_who hasn't opened their wine yet?” he asked, his voice tight, almost cracking.“Everyone has!” Linda answered quickly, her tone laced with rising fear. “Every single bottle.”A ripple of unease spread across the table.Richard let out a hollow laugh, shaking his head. “That's insane. Where am I supposed to get that kind of money from? My budget was $100,000.”Noah leaned back slightly, a faint, almost amused smile playing on his lips. “Well, I tried to warn you,” he said calmly. “But you didn't listen.”Richard snapped his head towards him, irritation flashing. “Why don't you speak for yourself!” he shot back. “It's not as if you can afford your bill.”Noah's smile didn't fade, it sharpened. “Who said I can't?" Noah replied. “I am nothing like you.”“Oh please,.” Violet

Everyone stared, as if trying to find out if it was fake. Then, they relaxed.Noah pocketed his phone, with satisfaction. For a second, no one said anything. Then, Violet let out a soft laugh.“Wow, you've finally gotten it,” She feigned surprise, and her lips slightly curled into a fake smile. She tilted her head, eyes running over him slowly. “How many years later is that?”A few people chuckled.“Don't get me wrong,” she added lightly. “It's nice, really. Everyone deserved a second chance.”NoH stared at her. No matter what he did, they would always think low of him and find flimsy reasons to back it up. He was not surprised. They had always been like that.“She's right,” Richarded added suddenly, supporting Violet. “Let's not act like this is some big moment,” he said, glancing around the room. “A certificate is the minimum requirement, not exactly an achievement.”A couple of heads nodded, agreeing with him.Violet smiled with victory. “Exactly! We all have one,” She gestured laz

“But we can settle this_” Tiffany started.“In Court,” Noah completed. “For intentional destruction of property of this value.”“It's fair,” the man added quickly. “Perhaps you have something of value too, aside from your BMW car because it's just going to handle the side mirror.”Tiffany thought for a moment, her heart beat accelerated. Then, she remembered something. “Rose’s necklace. It's a Graff Diamond necklace and is worth three million dollars. It can sort it and we will still have some change remaining.”Rose hesitated as if thinking about it but slowly shook her head. “Please, not the necklace,” She begged softly. The man moved closer nonetheless. “Can I see the serial number?”Rose paused. “Serial number?”“Don't tell me you don't know what that is.”Rose took the necklace off and did a quick check. There was no serial number anywhere. She looked up at the man again, as tears welled up in her eyes. The man shook his head in pity and slowly backed off. “Can't work, that's a f

Everyone stared, shocked.Rose lowered her bat, breathing hard. She smiled like she had done something enormous. Then, she turned to Tiffany. “Come, join me.”“Ma'am!” The guard froze. “You need to stop!”Ignoring the guard, Tiffany removed one of her stilettos and smashed the side mirror with its pointed side.“That is,” Rose started, turning towards Noah. “_what being stubborn is.”Tiffany laughed. “Relax, we will pay for it.”“Yeah,” Rose added. “Don't start crying now. How much could it possibly be?”Noah smiled softly. “Do you know the value of the car? Let alone the windshield you have broken?”“Of course,” Rose rolled her eyes. “Maybe at most $30,000,” she said with disdain. “Isn't it just Mercedes? It's something I can afford, so don't fret. I will pay for it,” she uttered, tossed the bat aside, and moved to grab her purse. She pulled out a card from inside it and stretched it out. “There's a sum of $30,000 in the card. Use it. At exactly 7 o'clock, his phone beeped. It was a broadcast message, reminding him that it was time for the reunion party.Noah remembered and, in fact, was driving towards the venue. After Harrison had left, Noah did a little research on Daemon. Daemon was ruthless and currently ranked in the top 5 among the businessmen in Orangeville. He had a lot of resources alright and he also had Leonardo backing him to do whatever he so wished.Online, Daemon had some disputes with some CEOs and they ended up being pushed down. Some left the city while some merely stayed as if they were never there. That was what power could do to someone. So, Daemon was like Leonardo but in a different state. If it wasn't for the Il fuoco establishment, which Jay almost pulled down as well, Leonardo would have been the one controlling the whole of Casington too. Also, according to the details that Harrison provided, Daemon was the same age as him. He was too young to control so many mafia lords, too young to b
