5:Cedric’s bodyguard

Gilbert was a well-known man around Casington. He was a doctor who could even access the president's office because of his skills. There were barely any ailments he couldn't cure.

The security stepped back slightly while the girls bowed.

“I'm sorry Mr Chase but this man is a thief. He was recently fired here for stealing a customer’s wallet,” Violet started. “So I got the security to bundle him out and have him reported to the manager.”

Noah wasn't even shocked at it. He was used to them lying against him that it was no longer shocking for him.

“What!” At this point, Gilbert was truly enraged.

“I said I didn't sneak in but you are all here lying on me! I came in with someone of great importance.”

“Shut up!” Violet snapped.

Seeing Gilbert's expression, she thought he believed her words and was angry at Noah.

“Which fool will let a fool like you in?” She laughed slightly, then turned to Gilbert again. “Rest assured, Mr. Chase. Everything will be taken care of,” she uttered and nodded to the security to do their jobs.

“How dare you!” Gilbert snapped. “I need your manager at this moment! Right now!”

Violet smiled slightly. She thought Gilbert was still angry because a nobody like Noah sneaked into the party.

“I'm sorry Mr Chase but I will get him instantly,” she said with an evil smile at Noah and stepped aside to call the manager.

She was happy that Noah would definitely be punished by Gilbert.

Noah shook his head briefly. Now he saw the reason why the manager had always listened to Violet and more reasons why they both have each other's numbers. The manager likes women so much that he would offer to do anything they like as long as they cooperate with him.

Between him and Oliver, he had no idea who liked women the more.

Soon enough, the manager stepped inside. He hurried to Gilbert and bowed his head slightly.

“I'm sorry sir for all this commotion, I will get the culprit out and I assure you he will be greatly punished and this kind of thing will never occur again.”

Violet had already given him wrong information and since he was sleeping with her, he was following her blindly.

“Oh, I see,” Gilbert smiled. “I see you already listened to one side of the story. And not how your waitress called me a fool.”

Violet jerked back, confused.

The manager looked at Violet. “You did?”

Violet shook her head quickly. “I didn't.”

Gilbert chuckled. “Oh, now you are calling me a liar?”

Violet felt a shiver descend on her at the sudden turn of events. “I will never, Mr. Chase.”

“Well you did,” Noah said quickly. “When you said which fool would have let me in because _” he paused slightly. “_here he is.”

What! How!

Violet tried to laugh. “You must be daydreaming, why would Mr. Chase_”

“And you just called me a fool again! Ce_Noah is my guest!” Gilbert snapped, shutting her up.

Violet shivered, her eyes going wide with shock. How did Noah get associated with Gilbert Chase?

Sensing what had really happened, even though he was also still shocked at how Noah could have been Gilbert's guest but he knew he needed to pacify him.

Gilbert was a well-known man and any mistake could cost them a lot. He was influential and knew a lot of people in the city. Getting on Gilbert's bad side might affect the company and him in general.

“I'm so sorry sir. This wasn't our intention!” He beseeched, then turned to Violet and Sandra. “Why are you still standing!” He yelled.

The girls went on their knees instantly.

“Please, Mr. Chase, forgive our incompetence! Overlook our insight!” they chanted.

Gilbert sighed. “Well, I'm not the one you should be begging. You insulted my guest, beg him.”

Violet's eyes widened and she slowly shook her head. How could she kneel and beg Noah? A nobody? But he was currently with Gilbert Chase, one of the most important men in Casington.

“And what are you still doing!” The manager yelled again.

He wasn't even helping matters and just yelling at Violet, something he has never done but he had to choose between the woman he's sleeping with and can dispose of anytime, and someone powerful enough to make him jobless. How would he access more women without a job?

“Please Mr Noah, forgive us for our incompetence. Please think of our good old days,” The manager said softly.

Noah scoffed. “Good old days? OK, I will because of that.”

The manager smiled. “Thank you so much Mr…”

“_If they can slap themselves!” Noah said quickly, shutting the manager up. “That will be their punishment.”

The manager hesitated.

Gilbert smiled at the punishment. He was really Cedric, his father's son. “You heard that, then I wonder what you are all still waiting for.”

Violet proceeded to stand.

“On your knees!” Noah snapped.  “You will slap yourselves while on your knees.”

Violet was the first to slap Sandra.

“Harder!” Noah muttered.

Then Violet hit Sandra so hard that she almost cried. The pain forced Sandra to hit her even more harder than Violet had hit her.

Gilbert smiled at this. “Good. They are all dismissed!”

Violet and Sandra hurried out of the hall, with tears in their eyes.

The manager however turned to Gilbert again. “Thank you so much for your mercy.”

Noah felt good instantly. The slap had covered everything they had always done to him.

“The person I was hoping you would see didn't come here tonight. Let's just go home so I can explain to you all there is to know.”

They walked out of the hall, side by side. Gilbert was all smiles. His night wasn't going well initially but seeing Cedric brought happiness to his heart.

The chauffeur was already in the car. They got in and the car pulled out of Olive and Vine.

Noah turned to Gilbert. “Who did you want me to meet?”

“Jennifer Scott.”

Noah's eyes widened with shock. Jennifer Scott was also a well-known woman in all of Casington. She was the CEO of LussoTech, the company ranked number two in the business of technology.

He was first able to discover her because Chloe has always dreamt of working at LussoTech. Then, he made a few findings.

Jennifer Scott was like a model to all the young business-oriented women.

“Does she know me?”

Gilbert laughed. “Of course. She has been looking for you everywhere. In fact, she was the first to confirm you didn't die in that accident.”

Accident?

“Even till today, she believes you were alive somewhere and was certain she was going to find you. She used to be your escort.”

“A female bodyguard?” he was stunned.

“Yes, she's not ordinary, Cedric. She's a woman like a man and yes, you need to see her as soon as possible. I will place a call to her now in fact. She will be so happy to see you!”

Only three people in the city owned the VIP black Alpha card from Heritage Bank. The President, Leonardo, and Alaric heir. But who would have thought the son of Alaric would come to his restaurant that night? And an ordinary waiter couldn't even recognise the famous Alaric Cedric!“But sir, the card was declined. I swiped it and it didn't even recognise it,” the waiter explained.“This is why you need to be extra careful whenever you are at work. This isn't a regular card,” he continued, his voice dropping into something edged. “It's encrypted. You don't swipe it, you authenticate it.”Encrypted? What does that mean?Martin didn't answer immediately. Instead, he took the machine from him with controlled patience, like someone correcting a costly mistake. Then, he placed the card flat against the reader.A soft beep cut through the silence.Everyone froze.Martin's eyes flicked to the screen. For a moment, he just stared, then a smile spread across his face.“Payment of forty-five thou

“Yes, sure. His order is $45,000.”Richard's throat went dry. His lips parted, but no words came out first. He dragged a hand down his face forcing himself to breathe as every eye in the room turned towards him. “Who_who hasn't opened their wine yet?” he asked, his voice tight, almost cracking.“Everyone has!” Linda answered quickly, her tone laced with rising fear. “Every single bottle.”A ripple of unease spread across the table.Richard let out a hollow laugh, shaking his head. “That's insane. Where am I supposed to get that kind of money from? My budget was $100,000.”Noah leaned back slightly, a faint, almost amused smile playing on his lips. “Well, I tried to warn you,” he said calmly. “But you didn't listen.”Richard snapped his head towards him, irritation flashing. “Why don't you speak for yourself!” he shot back. “It's not as if you can afford your bill.”Noah's smile didn't fade, it sharpened. “Who said I can't?" Noah replied. “I am nothing like you.”“Oh please,.” Violet

Everyone stared, as if trying to find out if it was fake. Then, they relaxed.Noah pocketed his phone, with satisfaction. For a second, no one said anything. Then, Violet let out a soft laugh.“Wow, you've finally gotten it,” She feigned surprise, and her lips slightly curled into a fake smile. She tilted her head, eyes running over him slowly. “How many years later is that?”A few people chuckled.“Don't get me wrong,” she added lightly. “It's nice, really. Everyone deserved a second chance.”NoH stared at her. No matter what he did, they would always think low of him and find flimsy reasons to back it up. He was not surprised. They had always been like that.“She's right,” Richarded added suddenly, supporting Violet. “Let's not act like this is some big moment,” he said, glancing around the room. “A certificate is the minimum requirement, not exactly an achievement.”A couple of heads nodded, agreeing with him.Violet smiled with victory. “Exactly! We all have one,” She gestured laz

“But we can settle this_” Tiffany started.“In Court,” Noah completed. “For intentional destruction of property of this value.”“It's fair,” the man added quickly. “Perhaps you have something of value too, aside from your BMW car because it's just going to handle the side mirror.”Tiffany thought for a moment, her heart beat accelerated. Then, she remembered something. “Rose’s necklace. It's a Graff Diamond necklace and is worth three million dollars. It can sort it and we will still have some change remaining.”Rose hesitated as if thinking about it but slowly shook her head. “Please, not the necklace,” She begged softly. The man moved closer nonetheless. “Can I see the serial number?”Rose paused. “Serial number?”“Don't tell me you don't know what that is.”Rose took the necklace off and did a quick check. There was no serial number anywhere. She looked up at the man again, as tears welled up in her eyes. The man shook his head in pity and slowly backed off. “Can't work, that's a f

Then, she turned to Tiffany. “Come, join me.”“Ma'am!” The guard froze. “You need to stop!”Ignoring the guard, Tiffany removed one of her stilettos and smashed the side mirror with its pointed side.“That is,” Rose started, turning towards Noah. “_what being stubborn is.”Tiffany laughed. “Relax, we will pay for it.”“Yeah,” Rose added. “Don't start crying now. How much could it possibly be?”Noah smiled softly. “Do you know the value of the car? Let alone the windshield you have broken?”“Of course,” Rose rolled her eyes. “Maybe at most $30,000,” she said with disdain. “Isn't it just Mercedes? It's something I can afford, so don't fret. I will pay for it,” she uttered, tossed the bat aside, and moved to grab her purse. She pulled out a card from inside it and stretched it out. “There's a sum of $30,000 in the card. Use it. Daemon was ruthless and currently ranked in the top 5 among the businessmen in Orangeville. He had a lot of resources alright and he also had Leonardo backing him to do whatever he so wished.Online, Daemon had some disputes with some CEOs and they ended up being pushed down. Some left the city while some merely stayed as if they were never there. That was what power could do to someone. So, Daemon was like Leonardo but in a different state. If it wasn't for the Il fuoco establishment, which Jay almost pulled down as well, Leonardo would have been the one controlling the whole of Casington too.
