Clearance:
It was the following morning and we were walking on the on dirty gravel road, after crossing the big Koma street. It was the biggest street we had ever crossed. At least Abraham was responsible enough to make sure that we all crossed it to safety. We were wearing caps, sandals, shorts and short sleeved t-shirts. Abraham had bought it for us. He was that kind of brother. It was weird, because he wasn't even working. I didn't know how he made money. As we were walking through the Elcha road that separated Elcha stadium from the big Rockville houses, I was haunted by the previous day's events. I was following behind my big brothers, but Simon was walking beside me. He looked weird as he stared at me, ever so often. He wasn't saying anything, but I felt like more horse shit was brewing in that evil mind of his. He had a way of surprising me with so much of it, although it was all unpleasant.Samson was narrating stories about the conspiracy theories of Rockville."You guys need to be careful here in Rockville, you know how they say that bad things happen here? This town is harboring bad things. They say it is like Darry but no one even knows it." He said."What is a Derry?" David asked."It's not a Darry, it's Darry. It's a place in a horror movie, you know IT? The only difference is that maybe more horrible things happen in this place, more than in that movie with a cloun... We'll probably see more people getting drowned..." Samson was like that, he enjoyed talking about conspiracy theories and making it seem like it was interesting, for me it was horrifying. I didn't want to see all the things that they were mentioning and he romanticized all of it, sometimes it worried me that I had a brother who was probably a psychopath."You're starting again with your lies Samson." Abraham scolded."It's not a lie, you were not there when we saw a mermaid coming out of that burnt-out, double story house, down the road. You came at the aftermath. How could the whole community confess on the same thing? You know they say it was trapped on the tank here in Elcha stadium. (Elcha stadium is a long row of playing fields that are made for different sporting events. Those are events like tennis, soccer, rugby, etc.) No one gets closer to it." He stood on his truth and that made me more nervous."Speaking of a tank, is it the white tank over there?" Simon asked, pointing a white tent which had a sound of running water going through it."I'm not quite sure... It probably is, but they say it busted a lot of irrigation systems in this place, that's why you see a lot of sewage leaks around. Maybe that is used as an alternative, for some irrigation malfunctions. There's only a one way to find out... But you know, you can't come any closer to a mermaid, even when it's covered in a tank, it can still come out and eat you. It has superpowers." Samson said."I think Clearance should go and check it out?" Simon suggested."God ahead punk! Go ahead and check out if there's a mermaid over there?" Simon was taunting me."Leave me alone, what is wrong with you?! I'll tell dad!" I protested. I knew already that Simon did not like me, he was always mean and vindictive towards me... And right then it confirmed it to me."Are you mocking me? I am your older brother and I am saying that you need to go to that tank right now or I will beat you!" He pushed me aggressively.I resisted against his gesture again. He kept pushing me, but I tried very hard to be resistant towards his gesture. Until he pushed me harder and I fell on the street, face planting down.I couldn't believe what was happening. I didn't even see the approaching car that had stopped in front of my lying body. Abraham yanked Simon away from me and then he pulled me up from the dirty gravel road."What the hell do you think you're doing, huh?! " He asked Simon."I'm finishing what mom started years ago... His mother took her away from us, why should we spare his life?! Why should we, why?!" Simon shrieked. In that moment I knew that he really hated me. I just didn't know that it was that deep.Through that very commotion, it stopped when we saw the tank moving, it was like something was beating itself against it. For a second we didn't know what was happening, until we saw a huge silhouette shaped like a fish tale slapping against it. Everything happened so fast after that, Abraham lifted me from the ground, aggressively, he placed me on his shoulder and he took off. I heard more footsteps running behind us. I guess all of us had witnessed the most horrifying event of our lifetime. Everyone ran until we reached the house. Dad was inside. He looked at us bemused with our panting."What happened to all of you?" He looked at me. "And why does Clearance have blood on his face? Who did that to him?" He asked. They all looked at each other and no one said anything."He fell..." Abraham finally said, omitting the part that Simon pushed me."How did he fall?" Dad pestered.Abraham gulped audibly, "We were going to Rockville park, then we saw a mermaid and we ran. He tripped and fell but I was able to pick him up and run with him." He said another blatant lie, omitting the most important part."Why didn't you report that you were going to that place? You know you're not allowed to go to any location in Rockville, not after everything that happened in that place? Didn't you read that people go missing and you took the youngest kid with you, Abraham?" Dad asked, but he was answered with silence."Clean him up boys, Abraham come to my room and explain why you made such an irresponsible thing?!" He ordered. In few minutes we started hearing the whip crack and Abraham wailing.

Ganuku:I arrived safely on the surface of the river, and then I saw Sosobala on the embarkment of the river. He stood facing south, to the direction I needed to take when I walked back home. I was not scared of him, but I knew I needed to be careful with him. "What are you?" He questioned. "I saw you enter this river few hours ago and you stayed down there for a very long time." He inquired begrudgingly. "I'm the soul of your nephew. Remember Ganuku? That's me." I answered him, honestly. "I am no longer a human anymore, I am a spirit that serves a snake of New Rockville. Do not patronize me with that human title and the body you possess… That's your younger brother's body, what did you do to him?" He urged, facing me. His huge form blocked my pathway. I felt trapped. Whatever I did, he could eventually find me even if I ran, he knew exactly where my family lived. It felt hopeless lying to him. "He is right here." I showed him the ball that I was carrying. "You're introducing hi

Clearance:I woke up in a idiosyncratic place. It looked weird, everything was shadowy and I heard whispers. Ganuku had apologized to me, but I knew that things were getting exacerbated, especially with father. When I heard the tumultuous noise he had with Ganuku, I nearly died from terror! My heart was filled with so much fear. I had never seen father so upset with me, I did not even think I was going to survive his wrath. My brother was not frightened though, he might have been feminine and had a liking of girly things, but fear did not recite in him. I heard voices between him and a strange lady, I was not familiar with her, I had never seen or heard of her anywhere. I was agog. "Why did you bring a living person here?! This is no place for him! You know what the Pharos will do when they find him here, right?! They will use him as their next sacrifice! Why did you risk him coming here?!" She posed questions, agitated. "Do you seriously think I had any choice in this situation?

Ganuku P.O.V. :"You know we are going to start beating you up after we are finished eating here, right? We do not tolerate gay boys here." One boy said."After doing that poisonous thing in front of my face, what makes you think I might spare you?" I asked them and they all looked at me as if I was a crazy person."We will beat you up, even God does not like things like you?!" The other one said clicking his tongue."Which God are you referring to?" I asked."This boy is sick, you should be running before we start hitting you!" The second boy said laughing. It seemed like being bullies seemed like the most common thing that they glorified. Another act that created so much rage inside of me."If you are referring to the god of the colonists, the food you are eating will turn into termites and it will start eating you from within." I stated. It seemed like what I had said had no effects on them and they started approaching."We are referring to the one true God of the Bible." Another s

"I am becoming more of myself." I told him with a smirk. I knew it was his worst nightmare witnessing any of his boys acting suspect. He was high on sexual morals and gender roles. Like if you could not conform to his moral standards? You would have gotten disowned right then and there. (I hid the bottle Clearance was in, in a sock, as he was still distracted with my appearance.) "Since when?" He asked confused. In a movie where he thought that he was a hero, I was most definitely a villain. And if he thought that he was a villain, I was double that villain. I really wanted to piss him off."Since the day you stopped becoming my father. Yesterday we agreed on your boys going to live at aunt Rosina, now you want me go fetch my bullies and bring them back to this house and then go and live on a shed like some dog? Fine, I might as well take an identity of my late brother, Ganuku. I might as well fight for his justice and since I am someone who is made to live in his shoes." I told him.
Chapter 17.
Ganuku P.O.V :He might have thought that he had escaped my wrath, but it was far from over. The was so much I was planning. He had to learn a harsh lessons. Everyone had to pay for their wrong doings, that they had created. He was scared to death after seeing me, but I knew I had to do worse. "Why are you doing this to me Ganuku? I am sorry I did not know what to do in those moments when they hurt you. I wish I could go back and change it, but It was out of my control." He tried to explain again, wiping his eyes. After sometime when I did not respond, he opened his eyes. He did not see me anymore, although I was still there, but invisible. He sighed heavily. He covered himself in blankets, hoping that what he just witnessed was not real. I went back to Clearance's room, my heart filled with rage. I was hurt, my own father had abandoned me because he felt my reality was a nightmare to him. He addressed me in a way that I could never get used to. At least when I was alive, on my pre

Ganuku P.O.V. :I could not sleep, I was not a sleeper and I could never sleep. I yearned for my justice. Vivian had been left to rot in jail ever since I had died. She was the only person who came for my defense, stabbing that well deserving mother monster, who had happened to be a mother to her five demonic children. The hurt they had put me through? When I was still alive, it could not be subdued with a slap on the wrist, everyone had to pay for their crimes. I despised and hated each and everyone of them. The one memory that still haunted me the most was the moment when Abraham was instructed to test which of my private organs were working? He inappropriately touched me when I was only a child, on my previous body, when I was still a human being. I cried out to father during those days and fought him from touching me inappropriately. Father came rushing in our bedroom to see what was happening. When I told him that Abraham wanted to molest me. He became so rigid and he blamed me
