Chapter 3: The Status of a Weakling Part 1

Xander remained kneeling on the bedroom floor, surrounded by chunks of black flesh and viscous blood that still steamed as it touched the floor. The decapitated head of the Blood Leech Hound was propped against the wall, its red eyes now opaque and lifeless. The tentacle that had almost sucked the life out of him lay limp like a dead snake.

His breathing was still irregular. His heart pounded against his ribs, but it wasn't just fear anymore. There was something more. A warm, vibrant energy pulsing through his veins. He looked at his own hands. His once thin, pale fingers now had bulging veins. His forearms showed muscles that definitely hadn't existed ten minutes ago.

"I... I killed it," he murmured, his voice hoarse. "I killed a level 8 thing."

A low, nervous laugh escaped his throat. He stood slowly, feeling his body respond with a lightness and strength bordering on the absurd. The silver sword with blue veins was still firmly in his right hand, as if it were a natural extension of himself.

That's when reality hit him again.

Outside, the world was still ending. Distant screams echoed through the building's corridors. Something heavy dragged itself along the floor below. Another guttural howl came from somewhere above—perhaps from the 9th or 10th floor.

Xander swallowed hard.

"Status."

The translucent blue screen materialized before him instantly, sharper and more elegant than any game interface he had ever seen. However, the first thing that appeared wasn't his current attributes. A secondary window, gray with red borders, opened first.

[Omniscient Analysis – Base Mode: Original Human Profile]

Name: Xander Voss

Age: 25

Race: Human (Unmodified)

Level: 0

Base Attributes (before the Nexus Administrator System):

Strength: 4

Agility: 6

Vitality: 5

- Mana: 12

- Intelligence: 19

- Perception: 11

- Willpower: 14

Xander felt a bitter taste in his mouth as he read those numbers.

"Pathetic…" he whispered. "I was literally a walking failure. Strength 4? Vitality 5? My God, I was weaker than most of the starting NPCs."

He remembered all the times he had been teased at school, all the times he had avoided confrontations, all the nights he had consoled himself by reading stories of protagonists who started out weak and became gods. He had always imagined that, if given the chance, he would do things differently.

Now the opportunity was there. And the numbers confirmed exactly how miserable he had been.

The gray screen disappeared and the main screen expanded, now with a royal blue background and subtle gold details.

[Nexus Administrator System]

Name: Xander Voss

Title: The Sole Administrator (Effect: +15% to all attributes in unclaimed territory | +25% experience when killing enemies for the first time)

Level: 1 (680/200 XP)

Class: System Sovereign (Path Blocked – Evolution available at Level 10)

Race: Human (Modified by the Nexus – Adaptation in progress)

Current Attributes:

Strength: 32 (Base 4 + 25 allocated + 3 title bonus)

Agility: 31 (Base 6 + 25 allocated + bonus)

- Vitality: 21 (Base 5 + 1 potion bonus + title bonus)

- Mana: 58 (Base 12 + title bonus + first death bonus)

- Intelligence: 44 (Base 19 + title bonus)

- Perception: 29

- Willpower: 67 (Drastic increase due to near-death experience + Administrator bonus)

Undistributed Attribute Points: 5 (residual bonus from the Starter Pack)

Active Skills:

- Omniscient Analysis (Maximum Level) – Allows you to analyze any being, object, ability, or law of the world with 100% accuracy. Cost: None.

- Nexus Shop (Level 1) – Access to the Nexus Shop. Currency: Nexus Points (NP). Available items are limited to Rare Rank.

- Authority: Grant System (Locked until Level 10) – Legendary ability exclusive to the Administrator. Allows granting subordinate versions of the System to loyal individuals. Limitations: Maximum of 1 subordinate per 10 Administrator levels. Quality of the granted System depends on the user's loyalty, compatibility, and authority.

Xander read the last ability twice. His eyes widened.

"Grant System… I can give Systems to other people?" He laughed, but the sound came out cold. "This isn't just a regular System Apocalypse. This is… administration. I'm not just a player. I'm the guy who can create other players."

He felt a shiver run down his spine. The potential was insane. If he could gather loyal people, he could build his own force. An army. An empire.

But the skill was locked. Level 10. He needed to level up fast.

Xander immediately tested the first ability.

"Omniscient Analysis: Blood Leech Hound."

A new window opened beside the corpse:

[Blood Leech Hound – Level 8 (Dead)]

Type: Mutant Canine Parasite (Harvester Bio-Weapon)

Weaknesses: Neck (vital point, 700% damage), fire, holy light (currently nonexistent).

Possible drops: Lower Blood Crystal (30%), Leech Tendon (15%), Parasite Core (5%).

Description: Low-level creature used by the Harvesters to clear "useless biomass" (weak humans). Extremely sensitive to the smell of fear.

"So you can smell fear…" Xander murmured, looking at his own blood-stained body. "Too bad I'm not afraid anymore."

He approached and poked the corpse with his sword. Two items fell to the ground with a metallic sound.

[You obtained: Inferior Blood Crystal x 2]

[You earned: 45 Nexus Points]

Nexus Points… the system's currency. Good.

He put the crystals in the pocket of his ripped jeans and opened the Nexus Shop.

[Nexus Shop – Level 1]

Available items:

- Potion of Light Recovery (Heals 30% of wounds) – 30 NP

- Complete Recovery Potion (Administrator) – 120 NP (stock: 2 remaining from the starter pack)

- Reinforced Iron Sword (Common Rank) – 80 NP

- Basic Sword Manual (Uncommon Rank) – 150 NP

Gene Awakening Potion (Low) – 450 NP (permanently increases base stats)

- Extra Inventory Slot (10 slots) – 200 NP

Basic Territory Map (100m radius) – 60 NP

Xander closed the shop with a sigh. He only had 45 NP left. Almost nothing. He would need to hunt more.

It was then that a new golden screen appeared, shining with urgency.

[Daily Administrator Mission – Day 1]

Task: Eliminate 10 monsters of Level 5 or lower within the next 24 hours.

Reward: 300 Nexus Points | 1,200 XP | 1 Random Attribute Potion (Low) | Temporary Title “Beginner Hunter” (+10% damage against low-level monsters)

Penalty for failure: Permanent reduction of 3 points in all attributes.

Xander felt his blood run cold for a second.
