Asher’s POV
“Tomorrow's the weekend, hopefully you'll have enough time to rest. But for now, we have to get you to school before we get late for that test.” Theo said as he helped me up into his not so fancy ride. “I guess some of us have to learn hard lessons before we can do the right thing.”
“Oh come on…” I groaned in pain as I tried in vain to make myself comfortable.
My shoulder was still hurting from the really hard falls I had from being knocked down repetitively by Neil's guards while Cheryl watched.
The moment played back in my head each time I closed my eyes. It was annoying that I had to be reminded of my pain frequently with every single blink.
“Uhm… Cherry…who the heck is that loser?” Neil asked, as his men stopped me from getting any closer to him. The way he called her by the name I called her made me feel even more nauseous.
The smile from her made me even crazier. “I don’t think I know him…but I guess he looks like one of my ex’s…”
“What…?” I couldn't believe that and I was ready to charge through the security men and make straight for Neil. “What did you just say?” I felt like she had been brainwashed or something.
“So who the heck are you?” Neil asked teasingly. “”I don’t have time for all this crap…”
“Shut up, you sick fuck…!” I yelled. “You took my girl for that dirty dance crap, and I think it’s about time you hand her right over…!” I noticed the people getting interested in that and they began pulling out their phones.
“Asher… stop all this crap…” Cheryl finally spoke up. “You’re ruining my moment, alright? I’m done putting up with your broke ass looking for someone to be with you. It’s over and I think you should stop trying so hard.”
The whole crowd let out “oohs” and “ahhs” as she said that. It was me against the world at that point as everyone was on Neville’s side.
“You heard her, loser… get out of here while you still can.” Neil held her by the waist and extended his hand all the way to her breast and gave it a squeeze. “I have some business to take care of.”
“Bastard…!” I charged at him, but I got smacked in the head by some unforeseen object and my world went black instantly.
“Asher…” Theo called me back into the moment as he started the car. “We have even bigger things to worry about. We didn't study for this test, and we've got to ace it somehow or we won't be allowed in the music sessions anymore.”
For a split second, I had forgotten about my musical aspirations in the heat of all that had happened. I was quiet throughout the ride till we got to school.
As we drove past the auditorium to where the test was meant to be held, I felt a sting that I couldn't quite explain.
“Here we go…” Theo said as he pulled over quickly. “Let's get in quickly.” He ran out and helped with my door.
From the moment I stepped out. I was greeted by a lot of stares from everyone who saw me. Some burst out in laughter instantly while the others seemed to take some time to figure out where exactly they had seen me.
At that point, I knew my reputation was gone. For good.
“Ignore all that crap. We're running late.” Theo took me by the hand as I tried to hide my bruised face. “Take it as a rehearsal for when you're finally a famous musical genius.”
It was hard to focus on the positivity Theo was trying to force on me as the pain was right there to remind me that I was going to be the topic of everyone in school.
“Oh shit…” Theo forced me to raise my head up only to see Neil, dressed in all black and his gang around him, and with Cheryl. “Just pretend you don't see them and we'll go another way.”
“Look who's trending for the wrong reason!” Neil yelled out loud from the other end of the hall, causing everyone in-between to erupt in laughter.
I wished for the ground to open and swallow me whole so I wouldn't live in that moment. But then, I couldn't stand the fact that Cheryl was on the other side, clinging to his arm like his handbag.
“Let's just get to class…” Theo urged as I stood there, not knowing what I was supposed to do at that point. “This isn't worth it.”
“Bro is trending even more than my shutdown of the school auditorium.” Neil was coming towards me and that wasn't good at all. He wanted to rub it in even more. “Just that he's trending for being the biggest loser the school has seen in a while.”
I got even more uncomfortable as people gathered all around us. My heart was racing with a lot of emotions as I made eye contact with Cheryl who looked away instantly.
“You really have the nerve, Cheryl…” I tried to hold back my rage as I bore the intense pain. “I never knew you were such a cheap ass slut…”
“How dare you?” Neil and Cheryl chorused at the same time and that nearly had me shaken up.
“Asher Coleman…” the sound of the professor's voice made everyone stop instantly as he stepped out from the classroom behind Neil and the others. He was walking towards me with a paper in his hand.
I was sure it was for me with the way he was holding it out to me.
“Sir… good morning, sir…” I stuttered as I didn't expect him one bit. “What's going—”
He pushed the paper into my hand before I could say a word. “You are hereby indefinitely banned from the school's music facility for your misconduct last night at the auditorium.”
“What?” I snapped instantly. “If anyone was doing any misconduct, it was…” I looked at Neil who had a wry smile on his face. It was obvious he had done something to make that happen.
“And you will not be allowed anywhere near ten feet of Neil…starting from today.” The professor turned and walked away.
I could feel tears building up behind my eyelids.
“First, I took your girl and now,” Neil said, grabbing Cheryl by the waist, “I'm going to take your life

Asher's POV “Congratulations player, you just completed your second mission of assembling your band. You've just earned 200 points. Your reward is ten million dollars…”A good way to start a new day… I thought to myself as I was up on my feet at once. The door opened and Theo came walking in with two of the guys. “Your next mission is to go get yourselves a uniform attire for the team… but this time, you have twenty four hours to finish your task…”“Huh…?” I had no idea when I gasped out loud. “Are you alright, Asher?” Theo asked as the two guys he walked in with made themselves comfortable in his small living room. “Yeah…” I put on my best smile, while trying to hide the crazy urgency that had been shot up in my being by Pheme's notification. “I'm just feeling a bit dizzy. Just got up…” I turned to the crew members, “What's up guys?” “By the way…” Theo said, pointing at the skinnier one of them. “This is Jack, our main producer and wizard behind the keyboard…”“Nice to meet you,

Asher's POV “We need to start making moves Theo. Our dreams are closer than we think…” I took a moment to glance at Theo as I had been on the wheels for quite some time. “Are you okay?”He was silent, as he was probably yet to understand what the heck was going on. Just a moment ago we had been struggling with a busted car. And now we were in a brand new Porsche. “What's going on, Asher?” He finally broke the silence. “One minute you are looking like the most helpless person on the planet, the next moment you are driving me crazy in this Porsche.”I felt my heart skip a beat as I was thinking of what I would tell him without having to expose the entire secret. So many suggestions came and left my head, but none of them seemed to be able to suffice. At the same time I had to finish the next mission in time as I didn't want to get in trouble with Pheme on the same day I began. “Just calm down. This is nothing for you to overreact about.” I had to fill the silence up with something at

Asher's POV “That was some crazy stuff you pulled off there…” Theo said as we got the last bit of equipment into the car. “Neil surely didn't see that coming.” “Of course he didn't…” I hadn't felt that level of satisfaction in a while. But my satisfaction was taken away each time I remembered that I would have to work with the system while keeping it secret from Theo. That was my biggest concern at the moment. “You had to see the look on his face when he just realized that he was going to pay for the building of a new cafeteria. That's sure to dig a deep hole in his pocket.” Theo laughed as we got in the car. Getting in the car made me remember what Neil had said about his car. I was suddenly aware of how uncomfortable it was there. “How about we get a new ride?” My words made Neil freeze. I watched his smile vanish as he had his hands on his steering. He stared at me like a mannequin for the next couple of seconds.“Say what?” Theo seemed so sure of the fact he had heard me wro

Asher's POV“Look out Asher!”Pheme seemed to have made my reflexes as quick as lightning as I was able to duck just in time. The bag went flying over me to a window in the cafeteria behind, crashing the glass. Everyone went silent as they had no words for that sudden change of character from Neil. And I was glad I had caught it on my live stream. “Hashtag Neil is a bigger jerk than you think.” I said in Neil's face. Everything was playing out even better than I had expected from the start. “Hope you got that, Theo.”“Of course,” Theo said with a reassuring laugh. “And the comments are pouring in.”“You bastard…” Neil was red in the face as he soon realized just how much he had screwed up in that moment. “Take it down, now…!”“No way, I'm doing any of that.” I was ready to stand my ground as all of it was captured online. “Are you going to keep showing the whole world just how much of a jerk you are over a singing challenge with a loser?”I knew he couldn't send his men at me, as he

Asher's POV “Damn what? Where have you been?” Theo couldn't hold back his worry as he barged into the bathroom door which I thought I had locked. “You had me scared for a moment Asher with the way you took off.”I was having a hard time staying at the moment as Pheme was suddenly gone, and the entire place was back to normal like nothing had happened at all. Now I was beginning to question if that had been reality or just some wishful part of my imagination coming to life. “Asher, are you even listening to anything I'm saying?” Theo called me back impatiently as he was completely annoyed by my sudden change of behavior. “I thought I told you not to let any of these get to you and now you are letting it make you crazy.”“I'm totally fine…” I looked at my watch and I could see the timer running already and that let me know that it was actually real. Along with my phone which had the notification of the alert I couldn't doubt it anymore. “I just needed to get my feet moving a bit.”The

Asher’s POV“Ph… Pheme…?” I repeated the name with my eyes closed, regardless of how silly it sounded. I just couldn't stop thinking of what would happen if anyone happened to walk in at that moment. My fame would spread even more but for the wrong reasons. I feared that even more than the sudden light that had shot out of the watch on my wrist. All of that happening at the same time left me wondering why I was fated to be that unfortunate. After some moments, I mustered the courage to ask one of the many questions in my head. “What the heck is a Pheme?”“Ugh…” the feminine voice sighed. “It's not a thing, it's my name. Looks like I have an awful lot of work to do on you, Asher. You probably never paid attention in any of your history classes.”I became even more afraid as the ‘thing’ could talk back to me. Now I really wanted to open my eyes to see what was going on, but I was paralyzed by the fear. “You can open your eyes now and satisfy your curiosity…” the feminine voice spoke w
