Parallel System

Chapter 3

No one thought Dylan could stand up again. Dylan used his legs to kick Alan so that he could get up. Although he staggered and his vision blurred a little, Dylan tried to fight back.

Dylan intended to punch Alan in the stomach but he failed. As a result Alan kicks Dylan many times in the stomach with his knee.

"Just give up." Alan pushed Dylan's body until Dylan's head hit the floor very hard.

"Hey, what are you doing!" shouted Haily. She checked Dylan's pulse as well as his breathing. "You want to kill him?"

"Don't blame me. He forced himself," Alan argued.

Dylan's condition is really bad. His body is full of bruises and there is also a lot of blood coming out of his body because of the blows given by Alan.

Dylan couldn't maintain consciousness and he passed out.

Dylan felt his body become lighter like flying in the clouds. When he opened his eyes, he saw a wide area of grass. 

Dylan tried to scream but no one answered. This place is exactly the meadow that had been present in Dylan's dream. 

Unable to find anyone, Dylan decided to walk without direction, just straight ahead. 

From midday to afternoon, Dylan was still walking without feeling tired. He was also surprised with his body. 

From his current position, Dylan saw a large shady tree. A suitable place to enjoy the sunset. But while walking to the tree, there suddenly appears a large black hole in the sky. 

Dylan had never seen anything like that before but he could feel that something was wrong. Everything in this place looked abnormal from the endless meadow, Dylan's tireless body, and the black hole in the sky.

Dylan tried to hide under a tree, but the black hole dragged Dylan inside it. 

Dylan opens his eyes. He vaguely smelled the distinctive odor of drugs. He woke up with an overwhelming sense of confusion.

Dylan looked around the room. He's in the hospital. And Dylan no longer felt the pain he had before.

A nurse came in to check on Dylan and intended to transfer him to the regular room. But she got a shock when she saw Dylan awake.

"Sir, when did you wake up?" the nurse asked.

"Am I in the hospital? When am I here?"

"You were in this room from two weeks ago. Your body is full of wounds so you need intensive care. You also had internal bleeding that put you into a coma," the nurse explains.

Dylan looked at the calendar on the wall. The explanation given by the nurse was true because Dylan still remembered that he went to Burn Bright was 2 weeks ago.

Dylan is lucky that he didn't end up in Alan's hands because right after Haily forbids Alan from hitting Dylan again, a coach walks into the restroom. He saved Dylan and took him to the hospital.

"Actually, we are going to transfer you to a regular room. You are currently in the VVIP room."

Dylan was surprised. He remembered that there was no money left in his wallet because he used it to book the restaurant. "Who's paying for all my treatment?" asked Dylan.

"Sorry we can't tell you," said the nurse.

But Dylan still wanted to know the person who took him into the VVIP room. If that person was Alan or Haily, that would be trampling on his pride. "Is that a man with a tall woman?" asked Dylan for confirmation.

"No, Sir. That's all the information I can give you." The nurse helped Dylan off the gurney and move to a wheelchair.

Dylan headed for the regular room below the floor of this room. When entering the lift, Dylan suddenly felt his ears buzzing and it hurt a lot.

Right after that, Dylan heard an unfamiliar voice.

System: The system has been activated.

Dylan looked around to see if the nurse was talking. Then Dylan's body felt like getting an electric shock of moderate voltage.

"Do you have anything to say, Sir?" 

Dylan shook his head, he looked back at the buttons on the lift.

System: You have a new chance to change your life.

"What do you mean by saying that?" Dylan asked the nurse. 

"Say what, Sir? I didn't say anything," the nurse replied. 

"I am sorry. Maybe I misheard it." But then Dylan heard that voice again.

System: This is a notification from the system. You have 1 million dollars in your bank account. You must use the money immediately within 3 days.
