Adele’s cheeks burned. She could feel everyone’s eyes flicking toward them, the humiliation sinking like knives.
Krazy’s voice dropped coldly. “Why don’t you mind your business? What does our invitation have to do with you?” Damon stepped closer, mocking. “Our business? You’re standing at our event, loser. We were invited. You weren’t. Get lost before I call security.” Krazy tilted his head slightly. “Make me leave.” Lizzy tugged at Damon’s arm. “Honey, let’s go. We shouldn’t waste time arguing with people who dream about getting in.” Damon gave Krazy a frigid glare. “I’ll deal with you later.” Krazy’s smirk was faint. “And I’ll be waiting to see how far you get.” Damon’s jaw tightened before he stormed off. Lizzy paused beside Adele, her perfume thick in the air. “Save yourself and our family the embarrassment, Adele,” she said smoothly. “My husband was invited. Yours wasn’t. Just go home.” Her words hit harder than she expected. Adele clenched her fists, her throat tight. Lizzy had always had it all — the spotlight, the praise, the perfect life. And right now, Adele felt painfully small. Then Krazy reached out his hand. “Give me your hand.” “Why should I?” Adele hissed. “So we can go in.” “Go into where? Stop this nonsense, Craig. You knew you weren’t capable of getting in, and you still dragged me here to embarrass me!” He met her eyes, calm as steel. “If I wasn’t capable, we wouldn’t be here. Let’s go.” They approached the gate. Guards lined the checkpoint, scanning every invitation card with military precision. When it came to Hector’s turn, he handed his card with a proud grin. “Only the recognized enjoy this privilege,” he said smugly, glancing over his shoulder at Krazy. The guard slid the card into the scanner. Beep! A sharp red light blinked. Everyone paused. The officer frowned, scanning the card again. Another red light. “Invalid authorization” Hector’s smile faltered. “Oh, perhaps it needs my thumbprint. Try my left thumb.” Beep. Invalid. “Maybe my right hand?” The officer’s patience snapped. “And when your right thumb doesn’t work, which one is next? Your toes?” His tone turned ice cold. Before Hector could reply, two armed guards stepped forward with their guns in place. “You’ve been banned from this event. Step aside, or we’ll drag you out by force.” “What?!” Hector’s voice cracked as he turned to look at Damon as if asking for help. He was there when those men told his father they were invited, “You can’t be serious—” “Move,” the guard ordered. They grabbed his arm, and Hector’s face went ghostly white. Damon stepped forward. “Wait, there must be a mistake! He’s..” The guard cut him off. “Next.” "Hey! Watch how you speak to my husband," Lizzy chimes in. "Or you will do what? We are simply following orders, and a person who's banned shouldn't be seen here." Damon has one of the highest ranks here, but there were many officials who were higher than him inside, and their respect and fear goes to them.. Damon had a displeased look as he flares at the machine. He had never felt more disrespectful, but he sighed, trying to control his anger. He gently hands his card to the man, holding his wife and ready to get to the root of this once he gets inside. Beep! "Invalid" was seen on the screen and that was followed by a loud gasp from lizzy. "Seems your family has been banned. Please use the door, we don't want to use force on you." The guard said coldly. Damon's smile froze. “What?!" “Step aside, sir.” The guards raised their guns at the Lancasters. His body turned cold with shock that the more he tried to speak, the heavier words became for him. Throughout his years in the military, he has always been regarded with respect. The colonels took the initiative to present five pennants to him yesterday.. How in the world is he getting this kind of painful disrespect? "Do you know who I am? You have no right! Absolutely no.." Before Damon could proceed, several guns were pointed at his head, causing him to retreat. Krazy watched silently. While Damon was threatening the guards and trying to call his superiors, he turned to Adele and extended his hand again. “Shall we?” "Fuck off, Krazy! Can't you see they're still attending to us?" He barked, "If I can't go in, there's no way in hell you'd be allowed." "I know it's painful to accept, but even if you yell, you still have to step aside for the people who aren't banned to go in.." Krazy said calmly. But those words stung. It was more than a slap to Damon and Hector combined. Being banned was one thing, but being humiliated by this low life was so painful, Damon couldn't suppress the anger boiling within him. "How dare you, you poor loser! Hurry up and get out or I'll beat you to death!" Hector spat. "The difference between you and I.. is I get to go in with my wife while you don't.. I wouldn't wanna roll in the mud with you.." Krazy shot back. The guards at the gate glanced at him, and he stretched his card to them. It was scanned immediately then the man smiled at Krazy and said, “Welcome, General,” His voice was sharp with respect, "This way.." The man took the initiative to lead Krazy in. Adele’s heart stopped. General? Krazy stepped forward, his hand wrapped around his wife, as every mocking gaze followed him — now silent, stunned. The smirk on Krazy's face made Damon tremble with anger. Watching him gracefully being escorted made Damon's and Hector's stomach twist. He clenched his fist so hard, his knuckle cracked. How in the world would a moron such as Krazy get into an event exclusive to the high and mighty while he was banned and left outside.. He was the one who was invited, not that bastard! "Fuck! This can't happen!" Damon cursed as he was escorted out of the building along with his brother-in-law. Meanwhile, Adele looked through the window to see that her brother and brother-in-law were trying to put up a fight. "Fix your eyes here.. don't let them bother you. They will definitely watch us live on TV. It's for the best." Krazy uttered, positioning his wife's face in the hall they just walked in. She smiled brightly, "Of course.. it just.. it's unbelievable.. how did you do it?" She asked, her eyes scanning the magnificent place. Truthfully, she thought they would be kicked out along with her family.. but it turns out Krazy was a man of his words. "I have friends on the inside. For now.. let's enjoy it," Krazy said as they walked further into the hall. Taking her seat, Adele saw her father at the far end corner. She smiled and waved at him but he just sat there, staring at her with his phone close to his ear. She saw the shocking look on his face, and she couldn't tell if he had gotten the news that Damon and the rest were banned or if he was stunned to see her and Krazy in a place like this. It was understandable, because it still feels surreal that she could be seated in such a grand place with influential men and women. "Here.." Krazy's voice snapped her out of her thoughts, "This right here is one of my favourite wines," He said urging her to have a taste. Crystal glasses clinked, laughter rolled across tables dressed in white silk. Every corner of the South River's Imperial Hall screamed wealth — generals, tycoons, dignitaries — all gathered beneath one roof for the Annual National Service Banquet. Then the host’s voice boomed from the stage, echoing through the hall. “Ladies and gentlemen, before we continue tonight’s banquet, we have a very special moment of honor.” The lights dimmed slightly. “Tonight, we pay tribute to a man of unmatched courage — a warrior whose name commands respect across borders. A man who has led countless missions, saved lives, and returned victorious from battles most men wouldn’t,” he said into the mic, “tonight, we honor one man whose bravery transcends rank and record. A man who has done what few could even attempt.” People leaned forward, curious. Some whispered guesses. "Who could it be?" "Omg, I can't wait to see him." "I'll kill to set my eyes on such powerful figure. No one in the history had gotten that much pennants!" Most guests darting their eyes around the hall, waiting to see who this powerful man was. The host smiled, voice swelling with pride. “He has been decorated with five military pennants of honor — the highest distinction granted to a single man in over a decade. A soldier of supreme valor… a living legend.” At the Lancaster home, Damon lounged on the sofa with Lizzy, sipping wine while the event streamed live on TV. He straightened up when he heard those words.. Lizzy chuckled at the screen. “See? It’s Damon they’re talking about. Weren't you the one given the five Pennant? Oh, honey.. you should be there.” Damon and Hector smirked proudly, their eyes beaming with joy as he stood from his seat. Back at the hall, the people erupted in applause. Bill clapped politely, glancing, “They’re finally calling your name, son. If only you were here to see this.” he said with pride. Back at home, Damon leaned forward, a proud grin breaking across his face and the applause from the people made him swell with pride. He grinned, fixing his suit, ready to go back to the event. "I knew there was something wrong with that machine! Oh.. I'm so going to squeeze life out of those security officers for their foolishness!" He vowed, grabbing his car keys. “…Please, join me in welcoming—” the host’s voice paused dramatically, “... General Craig ‘Krazy’ Guidotti!” The applause froze midair. A stunned silence spread like wildfire. Every head at the Lancaster table snapped toward Krazy. He didn’t move at first. Just calmly placed his glass down, wiped his fingers with the napkin, and stood — unhurried, composed. At the Lancaster home, Damon froze — the glass in his hand slipped, shattering on the tiled floor.Latest Chapter
Chapter 10
About twenty-five men stormed inside, causing Eve to lean to her seat with a smug face, “Take him to the dungeon. Beat him to death if you must. Find out what he already knows and finish him off,” She ordered. Krazy didn’t even flinch. Eve leaned back, smug. “Take him to the dungeon. Beat him to death if you must. Find out what he knows. Then finish him off.” Four men moved toward them. One grabbed Eve’s wrist. She jerked back, furious. “Are you nuts? I said torture this bas—” A strip of tape sealed over her mouth mid-sentence. Her eyes flew wide. Krazy stood over her, smiling for the first time. A quiet, unsettling smile. “Mmm? Mmm!” she screamed against the tape as her own men pinned her to the floor. “Who’s in control now?” Krazy laughed — a low, humorless sound that made her chest tighten with panic. She stared up at him, trying to understand how he’d flipped her own security team so easily. “Mmm!” She twisted, but the rope around her wrists bit into her skin. Once h

Suddenly, her lips curved into a perfect smile, so suddenly it almost hurt to look at. “You’re up,” she said softly. Her tone was warm. Her eyes were not. “I was worried your breakfast would get cold.” Krazy blinked. “You’re cooking for me? This early?” She turned back to the board, slicing faster. “It’s your first day at Lancaster Corp. I thought you’d want to start the day right.” There was warmth in her voice, but it didn’t reach her eyes. When he stepped closer, she smiled again — but her hand was still clenching the knife very hard. “I appreciate it but you should be resting.” “Resting? Nonsense. You're my husband, so it's only right I cook for you,” Adele smiled, stirring the sliced peppers in the pot. At 7:30, the city buzzed with the weekday rush. Adele parked by the gates of Silver Academy, stepping out with Sophia’s hand in hers. “Mummy, why am I going to a new school?” The little girl asked her mum after the registration. “Because mummy wants the bes

“Oh, I don’t think—” “I mean if you have the time.” Adele tilted her head, smiling unwavering. “I’m free this afternoon.” Penny hesitated. Something about the woman’s eyes made her heart race. “Please?” Adele added, her voice honeyed, patient… but with an undertone Penny couldn’t quite name. "A little something for knocking my out? Don't say no..." Penny sighed deeply as if sure this was a wrong idea. “Alright,” she said finally. Adele’s smile widened, slow and triumphant. “Wonderful.” - Eve froze the moment she stepped into her study. A man sat there, legs crossed casually on her desk like he owned the place. For a second, her brain refused to believe what her eyes saw.. Then she smirked, “I knew you were alive,” Great. Today seems to be her lucky day. Krazy had a stern look as he raised his head to study her expression, "I didn't come for you.. Where is your husband? He's the first on my list.” Anyone will be in a good mood when they don't have to go through the trouble o

“And who the hell are you..” Krazy moved in one fluid motion — a twist of the wrist, a sharp turn, and the man was on his knees, gasping for air, his arm locked behind him. The entire bar went quiet. Krazy’s tone never changed. “Walk away!” "AHH!" The man cried out. Without a second thought, he scrambled to his feet, clutching his wrist and muttering curses, disappearing into the dark corner of the bar. “You should go home.” He tells the lady. “I will. My car is parked outside after all…” The lady staggered as she rose to her feet and Krazy could smell her drunken state from where he stood, “Thank you.” She said with a grateful smile. He just nodded slightly, his eyes scanning her — not in the way men in bars usually did, but as if he was assessing her safety in her state. The lady took two steps forward, but the room tilted in slow motion and before she could take another step, she lost balance but a strong arm caught her around the waist. Craig steadied her effor

“What did he say?” Lizzy blinked, leaning forward. “Who?” He stared at the TV in disbelief. The screen showed Krazy standing from the Gold table, quiet, composed — buttoning his jacket as soldiers stood in salute. The applause thundered. Every officer in the hall stood in respect. And at home, Damon slumped onto the couch, his jaw tightening. “Impossible… that can't be! it should’ve been me! I was the one rewarded with the five Pennants!" His face turned ghostly white. Even Lizzy’s smile had vanished entirely. Bill’s jaw slackened. “What… what's going on?" Adele’s lips parted, her breath caught in her throat as she turned to him — Craig… General? The host gestured toward him from the stage, his tone almost reverent. “Sir, it is an honor to have you grace this hall tonight. The nation owes you more than words can express.” As Krazy walked through the aisle, soldiers and officers from every table rose to their feet. Applause thundered again — but this time, not out of polite
