Chapter 1
Craig tried to move. Nothing. His legs lay heavy, numb, dead weight beneath him. Panic crawled up his spine. He tried again, teeth clenched, veins rising beneath his pale skin — still nothing. Alarms exploded. Three medical staff rushed in, strapping him down instinctively as if expecting a violent outburst. Hands tightened restraints. Someone adjusted IV lines. Someone else silenced a beeping monitor. “He’s awake!” “I—I’m trying to move my legs…” Craig’s voice cracked. A nurse leaned close, stethoscope to her ears, steady but afraid. “Mr. Guidotti, stay calm. We’re stabilizing you.” His breath hitched. “Why can’t I move? I can’t… feel anything. Why?” They pushed thicker restraints over his waist and chest, padded blocks locking his head in place. He looked less like a patient and more like a captured soldier. And then — A silhouette. In the corner of the room, untouched by the chaos, sat a woman. Young, elegant, legs crossed. A cigarette rested between two slender finge
Chapter 2
“Daddy?” The word landed like a punch Craig never saw coming. He froze on the threshold of the dining hall, heart dropping, breath stalling. His wife didn’t remarry… right? But there she was — his daughter — tiny arms wrapped around another man’s neck. “I love the doll you got for me, Daddy!” she giggled. “I can’t wait for my birthday tomorrow!” Tomorrow. Her seventh birthday. February 3rd. Oh right.. how could he forget? He used to whisper that date like a prayer in the trenches. Robin Wade only chuckled, pinching her cheeks with the ease of a man who belonged. “Princess, I have plenty more surprises for you tomorrow.” She squealed. Robin carried her to the table, not sparing Craig a glance. Craig stood there — the ghost no one invited. Robin Wade looked exactly like the type of man the world applauded without thinking. Tall, polished, imperial. The kind of man who inherited power instead of fighting for it. His suit alone probably cost more than Craig earned i
chapter 3
Adele approached him cautiously, as though she were stepping into a room wired with explosives. “About Dad’s speech yesterday,” she said, arms crossed, voice softening only for appearance’s sake. “Please forgive his harsh words.” Krazy didn’t look at her. His eyes were fixed on Sophia across the hall, the little girl laughing beside her pink birthday cake. His voice came low, flat, trained. “His words had no effect on me.” Adele exhaled sharply. “And Sophia… what are your plans? Dad wasn’t wrong. How can you care for her if you returned with nothing? No savings. No job. Six years wasted.” Krazy’s jaw flexed. “I didn’t waste a single day in the military. In fact, I am the god of—” “Seriously?” Adele cut him off, irritation flaring. “You don’t call that waste? We never heard from you. I thought you died.” Her anger cracked through, sharp and raw. “You’re hopeless.” The words landed, but if they pierced him, nothing showed. His posture didn’t shift. His breathing didn’t cha
Chapter 4
Robbin swooped in with exaggerated gentleness, lifting Sophia into his arms as if he had rehearsed it. Cameras flashed. Applause rose a second time — louder, warmer — the perfect father everyone adored. Krazy didn’t blink, but something in his eyes iced over. Adele turned, embarrassment simmering beneath her breath. “You should never have come if you were going to give your daughter a fake gift,” she hissed. Her skin crawled with humiliation. How could he put himself in a position to compete with Robin? How could he be this foolish? Krazy only arched a brow. “Oh, dear wife. That piece is not fake.” Adele’s voice cut sharp. “Aren’t you embarrassed? How else could you have gotten something like that?” “Adele… Sophia needs you,” Ava murmured, tugging her sleeve. Adele shot Krazy one last look. “I hope you enjoyed the shame you brought on me.” With that, she walked off. While Sophia unwrapped another gift, Adele whispered, “Sweetheart… do you know who that man is?” She nodded tow
Chapter 5
Adele’s cheeks burned. She could feel the eyes, the subtle stares, the quiet smirks from the crowd drifting toward them — the humiliation slicing its way under her skin. Krazy’s tone cut through the air, chilled and sharp. “Mind your business. What does our invitation have to do with you?” Damon stepped forward with that familiar mockery in his eyes. “Our business? This is our event, loser. We were invited. You weren’t. Leave before I call security.” Krazy shifted his head slightly, bored. “Make me.” Lizzy tugged Damon’s arm with a sigh. “Honey, let’s go. Don’t waste time arguing with people who fantasize about stepping inside.” Damon’s glare narrowed on Krazy. “I’ll deal with you later.” A faint, unreadable smile touched Krazy’s lips. “And I’ll be here to see how far you get.” Damon stormed off, Lizzy lingering for one more strike. Her perfume floated as she leaned close to Adele. “Save yourself and our family the embarrassment,” she whispered. “My husban
Chapter 6
The man stepped aside and personally motioned for Krazy to enter. Adele’s breath caught. General? Krazy slipped his arm around her and stepped past the stunned crowd. Every mocking face fell silent, stunned. Damon shook with fury. Watching Krazy escorted inside tore at him. His stomach twisted. His jaw clenched so hard it cracked. How could Krazy get inside an elite event while he — the decorated Lancaster — was barred outside? He was the one invited. Not this bastard. “Fuck! This isn’t happening!” Damon shouted as guards forced him and Hector out. “Eyes here,” Krazy murmured. He gently turned her face toward the hall. “They’ll watch everything from their TV. It’s better this way.” Adele exhaled shakily. “It’s unbelievable… How did you even pull this off?” Krazy’s lips lifted faintly. “I have friends inside. For now… enjoy.” The hall unfolded before her — chandeliers, generals, dignitaries, billionaires. It didn’t feel real that she could sit beside peop

“What did he say?” Lizzy blinked, leaning forward. “Who?” He stared at the TV in disbelief. The screen showed Krazy standing from the Gold table, quiet, composed — buttoning his jacket as soldiers stood in salute. The applause thundered. Every officer in the hall stood in respect. And at home, Damon slumped onto the couch, his jaw tightening. “Impossible… that can't be! it should’ve been me! I was the one rewarded with the five Pennants!" His face turned ghostly white. Even Lizzy’s smile had vanished entirely. Bill’s jaw slackened. “What… what's going on?" Adele’s lips parted, her breath caught in her throat as she turned to him — Craig… General? The host gestured toward him from the stage, his tone almost reverent. “Sir, it is an honor to have you grace this hall tonight. The nation owes you more than words can express.” As Krazy walked through the aisle, soldiers and officers from every table rose to their feet. Applause thundered again — but this time, not out
Chapter 8
“And who the hell are you..” Krazy moved in one fluid motion — a twist of the wrist, a sharp turn, and the man was on his knees, gasping for air, his arm locked behind him. The entire bar went quiet. Krazy’s tone never changed. “Walk away!” "AHH!" The man cried out. Without a second thought, he scrambled to his feet, clutching his wrist and muttering curses, disappearing into the dark corner of the bar. “You should go home.” He tells the lady. “I will. My car is parked outside after all…” The lady staggered as she rose to her feet and Krazy could smell her drunken state from where he stood, “Thank you.” She said with a grateful smile. He just nodded slightly, his eyes scanning her — not in the way men in bars usually did, but as if he was assessing her safety in her state. The lady took two steps forward, but the room tilted in slow motion and before she could take another step, she lost balance but a strong arm caught her around the waist. Craig steadied her effortle
Chapter 9
Suddenly, her lips curved into a perfect smile, so suddenly it almost hurt to look at. “You’re up,” she said softly. Her tone was warm. Her eyes were not. “I was worried your breakfast would get cold.” Krazy blinked. “You’re cooking for me? This early?” She turned back to the board, slicing faster. “It’s your first day at Lancaster Corp. I thought you’d want to start the day right.” There was warmth in her voice, but it didn’t reach her eyes. When he stepped closer, she smiled again — but her hand was still clenching the knife very hard. “I appreciate it but you should be resting.” “Resting? Nonsense. You're my husband, so it's only right I cook for you,” Adele smiled, stirring the sliced peppers in the pot. At 7:30, the city buzzed with the weekday rush. Adele parked by the gates of Silver Academy, stepping out with Sophia’s hand in hers. “Mummy, why am I going to a new school?” The little girl asked her mum after the registration. “Because mummy wants the bes
Chapter 10
Afternoon light spilled through the café windows in soft gold bands, catching on dust and steam. Penny was dressed in simply—a cream blouse, fitted jeans, and hair loosely curled. She looked fresh, unpolished in a pretty, effortless way. And Adele? She sat by the window, sipping her coffee as they chatted. Her dress was modest, pastel blue, long sleeves buttoned neatly at her wrists. Her posture is straight enough to draw respect but soft enough not to intimidate. She looked gentle—too gentle, like someone who practiced being gentle. A waiter dropped off two coffees. Steam curled between them like a veil. After sipping her coffee, Adele lifted her head, “...hmm, of course.. you mentioned Craig helped you yesterday?” Her voice stayed smooth, but her eyes sharpened by a fraction. “Who was he with at the bar?” She asked with a friendly smile. Penny’s throat tightened. Her mind flashed back to the man's hand holding her upright, her own reckless kiss before everything went black. She
