The phone feels heavy in my hand, Lydia’s contact glaring at me from the screen. My thumb hovers over the call button.

No.

I shove the phone back into my pocket. Tate’s blood still stains my knuckles, the metallic scent clinging to my skin. I got what I needed from him, Justin's plan, the location of the fake evidence. But now…

Do I let Zac fall? Or stop it?

The question gnaws at me as I pace the empty safehouse. Olivia and Eddy are out gathering intel, leaving me alone with my thoughts. And the one person I want to talk to the one person whose strategic mind could untangle this mess is the same person I just drove away.

I returned to the underground cell, the air still heavy with the scent of sweat and blood. Tate looked up, his swollen eyes filled with wariness. I crouched beside him, my voice low and sharp.

"Listen carefully. You never speak of this. If Justin finds out you talked, he’ll see it as betrayal and we both know what he does to traitors."

Tate swallowed hard

Pain pulses through my ribs with every breath.I hang from rusted chains, wrists aching and shoulders burning. My shirt’s soaked with blood some dried, some still fresh. The metallic tang of it mixes with the moldy dampness of the basement. Dim light flickers above, swinging slightly with the draft, casting shadows that dance like ghosts on the cracked concrete walls.Zac’s underground dungeon it reeks of his ego.He leans in now, lips curved into that familiar smirk I’ve hated since the first day I laid eyes on him.“Well, well… Chairman Kelvin.” His voice drips with sarcasm, but the venom underneath is real. “I always knew there was something about you.”I look up slowly. My face is swollen, one eye nearly shut. Blood trickles from a cut on my cheek. Still, I say nothing. Not yet.Zac walks around me, arms behind his back like some war general inspecting his prisoner.“You wanted to play dumb,” he says, chuckling. “Act like the humble strategist, hiding behind Lydia and Eddy. But it

  • Chapter 76: The Betrayal

The news of Justin’s release reaches me sooner than expected. He walks out of the cell with nothing but shame and swollen pride. From the footage I watch later, he doesn't even look up as he exits the precinct, his head hung, clothes wrinkled, jaw tight. The once-proud son of a business magnate, reduced to nothing. Serves him right. But I also know what desperation does to a man like him. And sure enough, he does the unthinkable.Justin walks straight into the lion’s den.Zac’s office. The very same place he once caught his wife sprawled across Zac’s desk. The same desk where his ego and marriage were shattered. That’s where he returns to beg.I don’t see it with my own eyes, but Eddy gets the footage. Internal cameras leaked from a contact on the inside. I sit and watch, jaw clenched as Justin steps inside, shuffling like a man with no purpose left. His eyes scan the room briefly and then he drops to his knees. Just like that.“I need help,” he says, voice hollow.Zac leans back in h

  • Chapter 75: The Reckoning

Kelvin’s POV I’m pacing the length of the living room, fists clenched, jaw locked, my mind racing. Justin has just single-handedly messed up everything. The plan we had been executing for weeks strategically, surgically now teeters on the brink of collapse because of his impulsive violence.Mary sits at the far end of the room, her arms folded tightly, a fresh bruise darkening across her cheekbone. She avoids my gaze, and I don’t blame her. If I were in her shoes, I wouldn’t look at me either. I had delivered her right back into the hands of a man I thought I could control.I slam my palm against the wall and curse under my breath. “Damn it, Justin.”Eddy walks in, eyebrows raised. “You saw the news?”I nod tightly. “He beat her. In his house. After I told him to play along and wait for my signal. What was he thinking?”Eddy shrugs. “Probably that he’s still a man who owns things. Including her.”I close my eyes. The weight of it all presses into my chest. We were so close. The sex t

  • Chapter 74: The Unbreakable Shield

Kelvin's POV I pace back and forth in my study, staring at the blinking screen of my laptop. The evidence we compiled the footage, the recordings, the transaction trails it’s all airtight. Kwang’s involvement in the car accident is undeniable, and once the police get their hands on this, it’s over for him. I take a deep breath, steadying my pulse, and hit “send.” The files transfer to the inbox of Chief Inspector Dela Cruz, the only officer I still trust to some extent.“Done,” I mutter, standing up from my seat and stretching.Eddy calls, his voice tense. “You really think they’ll act on it?”“They have no reason not to. Kwang’s dirty, and if they follow the trail, it leads to Zac.”“Unless the trail gets erased before they look at it,” Eddy adds darkly.I hang up without responding. I don’t want to admit it, but the thought has crossed my mind. Zac has had law enforcement in his pocket before why would now be any different?Mary’s POV The bathroom door rattles. “Mary!” Justin’s

  • Chapter 73: The Fall of Zac

The media explodes with the scandal. Zac and Mary are everywhere on headlines, blogs, news reels. Their disgusting affair takes center stage, burying every other trending topic. Eclipse Group is under the spotlight now, not for innovation or corporate wins but for betrayal, adultery, and a crumbling empire.I scroll through the news reports in silence. There’s a picture of Zac stepping out of a luxury car, face hidden, but the headlines are brutal. “CEO Exposed in Revenge Porn Scandal” … “Justin’s Wife in Illicit Affair with Stepbrother Zac” … “From Boardroom to Bedroom.According to the narrative that’s been spun and I made sure of this Justin is the helpless heir who lost everything. His father's company. His position. Even his wife. The media paints him as a pitiful victim, robbed by his adopted brother and betrayed by his lover. And the public? They eat it up. The pity turns into sympathy. The sympathy, into rage. Zac is hated more than ever. The scandal ripples through the financ

  • Chapter 72: The Breaking Point

Kelvin's POV I already knew Lydia’s life might be in danger. It was a feeling I couldn’t shake not after everything we’ve been through. Zac is unpredictable, ruthless, and backed into a corner. That makes him more dangerous than ever. So, before he arrived, I made sure Lydia escaped through the back door of the safe house. I watched her disappear into the alley with Olivia’s men shadowing her from a distance. It was the only way I could breathe, knowing she wasn’t here when things were about to explode.Zac walks in like he owns the place, a smug grin plastered across his face, thinking he’s won. He has no idea Lydia is long gone. He talks in circles, spitting threats, acting like he still holds the cards. But when I remind him of the promise he made to leave Lydia alone in exchange for silence he scoffs and dismisses it, as if it meant nothing. That’s when I know. He’s already broken it.That’s all I need. My finger hovers over the “send” button for just a second before I press it.

  • Chapter 71: The Hunter Becomes the Hunted

Kelvin's POV Zac is spiraling. The moment he finishes watching the unblurred sex tape, he dials Lydia. Once. Twice. Ten times. No answer. His voice messages grow more frantic, less coherent. But she doesn’t respond. He knows. He knows his life is about to fall apart.I imagine him pacing in that polished office, rage boiling beneath his skin. For a man who’s always been in control, the uncertainty is a knife to the throat. He doesn’t waste time. He gets his men to track down Lydia’s home address, and he drives there himself. What does he expect? That she’ll be scared? That she’ll fold under pressure like all the others?Lydia is many things. Fragile isn’t one of them. She returns home late, just as planned. Zac is waiting, standing at her doorstep like a ghost from the past. She opens the door, pauses, and doesn’t even flinch."We need to talk," he says, eyes wild."Do we?" she replies, stepping past him like he’s invisible. The security cameras catch every second.Once inside, he do

  • Chapter 70: The Trap Springs Shut

I grab Zac by the collar. His smug expression doesn’t waver, but I can feel the tension coil through his muscles. “If you ever threaten Brianna again,” I whisper, voice like steel, “I’ll make sure you don’t just lose your empire you’ll lose your freedom too.”He smirks, brushing my hand off his collar. “Touchy, aren’t we? You might want to control that temper, Kelvin. Wouldn’t want another scandal.”It takes every ounce of restraint in me not to punch him across the hallway. The cameras. The gossip mongers. The headlines. I can’t risk any more public noise not while we’re walking on the edge of this mess. I take a step back, forcing calm into my voice. “This is your last warning.”Zac straightens his coat and shoots a glance toward Brianna, who’s standing behind me in the office, arms crossed, eyes sharp. “You’ll regret this,” he mutters, then walks away like the devil wearing a designer suit.Once he’s gone, I shut the door behind me and turn to Brianna. She exhales and moves closer,

  • Chapter 69: The King’s Gambit

Zac’s POV The city sprawls beneath my penthouse window, a glittering empire waiting to be claimed. I sip my whiskey, savoring the burn. Everything is falling into place. The drug routes are secure Mexico, Thailand, Colombia each one pumping money into my veins faster than the stock market ever could. Kwang handles the dirty work, the cops are in my pocket, and the shareholders? They kneel without me even asking. Power tastes sweeter than I imagined. My phone buzzes. A report from Kwang: Mary still missing. Safehouse locations negative. I dismiss it with a flick of my thumb. Mary doesn’t matter anymore. She’s a loose end, not a threat. No, the real prize is Brianna. And she’s about to learn what happens when she says no to me. Brianna’s POVThe knock at my office door is too forceful to be polite. I don’t bother looking up. “Come in, Zac.” The door swings open, his cologne dark and expensive filling the room before he does. “You’re getting predictable,” I
