CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Julius lifted his brows the moment he heard the words from Noah who slowly returned his gaze to him after making sure that no one was eavesdropping on them.

“A secret library?”

“Yes. A secret library, Diego.” Noah nodded to affirm his words, and after shielding his mouth with his right hand, he continued.

“I think it was built in the past, way before this Combat society became existent. The books there are so old but they contain so many secrets from the past and even pr

Julius could not stop thinking about what had happened in the courtyard.Even after Vera had ended the training session, the strange sensation he experienced while using the amulet remained fresh in his mind. He had felt something unusual passing through him, and the green pearl had glowed brighter than it ever had before. What troubled him most was Vera's reaction. She had been surprised. He was certain of it.And if Vera, who had been guiding him since the beginning of his journey into the magical world, could not explain what had happened, then there was clearly something about the amulet he had yet to understand.Julius walked slowly through the Castle corridor, his fingers resting on the amulet beneath his shirt.“Why are you so mysterious?” he whispered, looking down at the green pearl. “You expect me to use you, but you won't even tell me what you're capable of.”Naturally, the amulet offered no response. He sighed and continued walking. When he reached his bedroom, Julius push

Julius slowly raised his hand, keeping his eyes fixed on the small stone lying in the courtyard. He had been repeating the same exercise for what felt like hours. Lift the stone. Move it forward. Hold it in the air. Then lower it gently to the ground. It sounded simple when Vera explained it, but every attempt demanded more concentration than he expected. The stone rose a few inches above the ground.“Higher,” Vera instructed.Julius frowned and concentrated harder. The stone rose another few inches, trembling in the air.“Don't force it,” Vera said. “You are trying too hard.”“How can I lift it higher without trying harder?” Julius asked through clenched teeth.Vera folded her arms. “There is a difference between concentration and struggle. Concentration gives your mind direction. Struggle makes you lose control.”Julius loosened his shoulders and took a slow breath. He remembered what had happened at the ancient ruins when he had lifted the enormous pillar. He had not succeeded by p

Julius stepped out of the bathroom several minutes later, dressed in a black shirt and a pair of dark trousers. He walked toward the wardrobe, searching for a suitable pair of shoes while his thoughts remained fixed on the events that had unfolded since his encounter with Lord Draevyn. He had barely finished dressing when a knock sounded at the door.“Come in,” he said, fastening the buttons on his shirt. The door opened almost immediately, revealing Dominic, who walked into the room with his usual composed expression.“Good morning, Diego.”“Good morning, Dominic.”“I trust you had a restful night?”Julius chuckled softly.“Restful? I think that's one way to describe it. Although I spent most of the night dreaming about things I would rather not dream about.”Dominic smiled politely.“Your breakfast is ready, Diego. Shall I have it brought here, or would you prefer to have it in the dining room?”“The dining room will be fine. I could use a change of scenery.”“Very well, Diego.”Dom

Julius slowly opened his eyes as the rays of sunlight found their way into his bedroom through the massive windows. For a few seconds, he remained still, staring at the ceiling while he tried to gather his thoughts. His body felt heavy, and his head throbbed slightly. The events of the previous night returned to his mind almost immediately, bringing with them a flood of emotions he was yet to understand. The Infinite Forest. The Dark War.The six heirs. And Lord Logan.Julius shut his eyes briefly as the image of the tall man with red eyes flashed through his mind. He could still remember the arrogance in Logan's voice and the determination with which he had challenged Lord Draevyn. What frightened Julius most was not the fact that Logan had rebelled against the other heirs, but the knowledge that he was still alive and had grown far more powerful than before. He had no idea how such a man could be stopped.A sigh escaped his lips as he sat up slowly, running his fingers through his h

CHAPTER FORTY-SIX Julius paid full attention to the vision Lord Draevyn showed him, focusing on the six heirs seated on their different thrones. He could recognize Lord Draevyn who seemed to be their leader and was the first to speak. The rest of the heirs were looking at him, obviously, they were waiting for him to speak while he slowly stood up from his throne, adjusted his throne, and cleared his throat before he began to address them. “I welcome you all to this meeting. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you, knowing fully that you all will be occupied in your different realms.” “Lord Draevyn, tell us the reason why you called us. We do not have all day to be here, and as you rightly stated, we are very busy. This isn’t the actual time when the heirs are supposed to be gathered.” Said a tall man with an imposing stature and a brown mustache that stood tall and curved above his mouth. His red eyes portrayed evidence of his vile nature, and his desperation t

CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE The moment Julius heard Vera’s voice behind him, he turned around to look at her with a look of surprise on his face. “Vera?”“Hello, Diego. I knew you were going to do it, I was certain of it.” Vera wore a pleasant smile on her face, and after she chuckled softly while looking at Julius, she turned toward Lord Draevyn who had a smile on his face as well. “Lord Draevyn?”“Vera? You were right, he certainly is the right one for the task. I had my doubts about him, but seeing what he just did, I am convinced that we made the right choice after all.”“I told you so, didn’t I?” Vera asked Lord Draevyn who nodded in response with his smile unpaired. He turned to look at Julius who was looking at them with several thoughts running through his mind. “Diego? Are you still here with us?” “So this was a test?” Julius asked with a whisper, looking at Vera who refused to say even a word while she continued staring at him. “This wasn’t a test, Diego. I was just being spont
