The guards leaned in. Their faces were deadly and their eyes glinting with cruel glims.
Meanwhile, Han leaned back in his seat, a flicker of satisfaction and impatience lingered in his eyes.
This defeat, when it came would remind the city why he was feared and his head guard, the warrior feared by every other warrior in the city, was going to make sure of that.
The smirk on Han's face grew wider, almost cutting to both parts of his ears.
'Great decision bringing him over!' The thoughts smoothened his ego.
Elara's feet froze as she watched with a hammering heart. Adrain remained calm, almost playful. But something about the way he stood screamed danger.
Her face blushed with worry. 'Why does he even care!'
'My face resembles that of a hideous monster! Why would anyone want to have anything to do with me!'
Then the first guard stepped forward. He was different from the others. Broad shoulders, rippling apps, and overflowing confidence in every movement. The crowd gasped.
"Kain!" Everyone whispered with fear on their lips! "The King of Rings; feared by all!"
He was one of the greatest fighters the city had ever seen. Fierce and deadly. Defeating his enemies with single blows, he was practically undefeatable.
"This is definitely the worst time to mess with Han!" Most of them didn't even realize that such a powerful fighter had always been in their midst until now.
The excitement in the crowd shifted. The battle wasn't just against the guard and Adrain anymore; it was about to be a show.
Han's lips curved into a grin. He loved the chaos, the fear, the gasp, the respect. It was like music to his ears.
Kain stepped forward with a scoff. "This's the man that dared to speak against the great Han!" Disgust hatched deep into every word that he spoke.
"There would be no need to break a sweat!" He stepped aside to the disappointment of the crowd.
"Deal with him!" He turned to the lower guards as he spoke. "A few seconds and this should all be over!"
However, Adrain tugged his shirt lazily, his voice teasing. "A few seconds? That's disappointing. For the almighty warriors of the halt family, I thought I would be getting something better. Maybe a blink?"
Elara's eyes snapped. 'He is playing! In front of his death!'
"Get him!" Kain snapped with impatience, cutting through his tone.
The guards lunged.
Adrain didn't bulge. A dark aura gushed off from him, piercing through the room in waves. The crowd shifted their weight in alter confusion.
"That has to be from Kain. He isn't even fighting and his aura is still so powerful!" Murmurs filled the halls as they watched closely.
Adrain suddenly moved. His feet slicing and fist slamming. One guard flew to the extreme end of the Arena. Another went sprawling. Faces slammed into floors and groans mixed into the crowds awe filled gasp.
The dust kicked up and the hall became a ground of utter chaos.
Han rose, his hands clenched and disbelief lunged deep into his face. The elite guards were left groaning while Adrain stood, untouched with a smirk crawling to his lips.
Everyone could not believe the sight before them. Everyone was standing, disbelief twisting deep into their looks.
"It could not be!" They said with slack Jaws.
It happened so fast that their eyes could barely catch up with the events that had happened.
A flicker of hope shone through Elara's eyes. Just maybe this man might be able to help her.
Soon, Han's astonishment melted off into cold and raw anger, his teeth clenched tightly and the crowd could feel the heatwave from his rage.
Kain's initial shock vanished. He advanced towards Adrain, with a calm but deadly composure. The crowd held their breath.
Now that the king of the ring had stepped into the fight already, Adrain was as good as dead.
Elara's stomach collapsed to the bottom of her feet. The crowd's eyes lit.
"Yes... The king of rings is back!" They all cheered in elated unison.
"I'm sure he definitely cheated with the guards. But let's see how he is going to do it with the King of Rings!"
"I can't wait to see how he falls after the King of Rings defeats it."
"It's definitely going to be the greatest defeat of the century!" They commented, one after the other.
"I don't know how you did that but consider yourself as good as dead already!" The king of Rings pronounced the words with assurance.
"Correct me if I am wrong. But isn't this just how prideful you were a few seconds ago? Tell me where it led?" Adrain's brows were cocked as he inquired.
The crowd's breath was caught up in their lungs.
"This man is so audacious!" Someone whispered. "How dare he defy the King of Rings?"
"Just because he was able to defeat a group of untrained guards. Where did he get the audacity to think that he could defeat the almighty King of Rings?"
Their words hurled at Adrian piling and piling up with insults but Adrain didn't care.
"For your renowned status. I would love to see if you're worth making me break a sweat!" Adrian noted further, his words causing the teeth of the king of Rings to clench ever so tightly.
The arena gasped once more.
Kain clenched his teeth. "For someone so pathetic, I would not have to use my full strength."
The wind tore across the Arena as Kain attacked. Dust rose, hiding the stage from the crowd.
Breathes were held in full anticipation and Han could not help but grin side by side. This would be full evidence that no one dares to sh*t on him and goes scout free.

“I came as soon as I heard that you sent for me, Shadow Monarch.” Commander Rylan bowed profoundly until his head touched the ground. He stayed that way, awaiting the moment when Adrian was going to instruct him to lift his head, his fingers almost trembling in nervousness. Silently, his heart thudded, his eyes attempting to steal a glance at Adrian. “I am sorry for my lateness, my liege.” He added, worried that he may have aroused the anger of the Shadow Monarch. Adrian sighed softly, and then he leaned forward, taking a deep breath. “Get up, Commander Rylan.” He said exactly what the commander had hoped for since his back was beginning to make him feel very strange. “Thank you, my liege,” Rylan grunted as soon as he stood erect, and then it was time for him to expect the reason why he had been summoned. He could only stare at Adrian for a couple of seconds before he eventually looked away, careful of every action he made. Adrian stood up from the chair that almost looked like

Maya chuckled softly, but clearly, she didn’t understand the amount of sensation that was going all over Adrian’s body. He couldn’t count how many times he had sighed, holding onto the smile on his face. “Why does this seem very personal to you, Adrian?” Maya finally asked the question that had been nestled in her mind for a very long time. She didn’t just know where to start from, struggling to find the most suitable words to use at that moment. Adrian sighed heavily, and then he cleared his throat, his expression plain and unreadable. “That’s because this is very personal for me, Maya.” He finally broke his silence, but the lady still needed to understand what he meant, staring with her brows furrowed. It almost seemed as though she needed to beg for a response, but just before she was ready to break the silence, Adrian continued with a low but audible tone. “I was forced out of this City by the same people who killed your husband, Maya.” Adrian paused for a while, veins of an

CHAPTER NINETY-FIVE As soon as Adrian opened the door, he saw Maya seated on the bed, holding her son with a smile on her face. Her beam was enough to cover the pain that she had endured, and the moment she lifted her face to look at Adrian, she waved at him, causing Seth to turn to him as well. The little boy was so happy that he had to run to Adrian, embracing him tightly. “Thank you so much, Sir!” he said with tears in his eyes, sniffling very loudly.Adrian sighed, and with a smile on his face, he nodded, patting the boy on his shoulder. “That’s not a problem, Seth.” He paused for a while, but he didn’t stop his smile. “I am glad that your mother is finally okay.” He sighed in relief, and then he waited until the little boy let go of him before he finally began to walk up to Maya who had been staring at him from the moment he walked into the room. She adjusted slowly, and then she waited until he was close enough before she could break her silence. “What would I have done i

“I know, you don’t…” Adrian gave a quick response, holding onto his smile. “But you will understand soon.” He added, inching closer to the bed. Seth was forced to watch him reach for his pocket again, but this time he took out a bottle containing a whitish liquid. Turning to Seth, Adrian maintained his smile, and then with a calm tone, he requested, “I need you to look around, Seth. Could you find me some water? It will help with your mother.” “Yes!” At the mention of his mother, Seth sprang up from the bed, rushing out of the room at once.He moved as though he knew where he was, but Adrian was not so much bothered.“He seems smart.” He whispered, certain that he was going to be able to carry out the task.Maya was no longer jerking, but her condition had not become any better. She was hardly breathing, her fingers moving from one direction to the other as though she was trying to point to something nonexistent or probably invisible. CHAPTER NINETY-THREE Adrian was already on his way toward Maya and Seth, and without him having to say it, the little boy and his mother got up from their knees, their terrified countenance replaced by beams of hope. Maya sighed heavily, and soon, she was smiling just like her son. “Get into the car…” Adrian said calmly to them, unlocking the car with the car remote that was tightly gripped in his right hand. Maya led her son into the backseat, and Seth sat down quietly, looking around with obvious signs that it was the first time he was getting into a car. His wide eyes glittered with marvel and excitement, his lips refusing to seal as the interior of the expensive car wowed him.He didn’t just get to be in any car, but a luxurious one that instantly pushed several thoughts into his mind. “I will buy this type of car for you, Mummy.” He turned to Maya, smiling with a firm resilience and determination.Maya chuckled softly, but the next second, the brightness on her face vanishe

“No!” Maya screamed as soon as she saw that Adrian had fallen to the ground. Tears fell from her eyes, and left with the tough decision of either leaving her son to run after him or protecting him, she watched from a distance, sniffling loudly.“Please, don’t die.” She prayed silently, watching as the source of her freedom lay still on the ground. Brymo and his men were already rejoicing, cheering as they looked at Adrian who was still on the ground for over a minute. “The bastard is dead, Boss!” One of the men said to Brymo, and then he began to walk toward Adrian. He kicked his leg as soon as he was close enough, and after getting no reaction from him, he inched closer, looking downward at his face. He kept his eyes on Adrian’s face for a while, just to be certain that he was no longer breathing.“I think he is dead, Boss!” He announced happily, turning to face their leader. Brymo nodded, his eyes still on Adrian.“Serves him right!” He snorted, limping toward the body. “I ho
