CHAPTER 3

The guards let him go after an order from the CEO's son. Oliver's hands rested on the ground while looking around where all people's judgmental eyes are on him. He was the center of attention. Whispers can be heard everywhere.

"All of a sudden, he's making trouble here," he heard what other people say, ''Isn't he ashamed? The CEO's son is in front of him, he has no respect.''

It's hard to get along with rich people. They will treat a person like trash if they belong to the low class.

Oliver isn't surprised anymore. Of why the world is unfair. Because some things are measured in money, luxuries, and gold.

Oliver slowly stood up on his own feet and faced the man who look down on him. He noticed that he was planning something bad, he could read what was on his mind.

''I notice you're making a scene?'' he asked him sarcastically, "You're going to ruin your reputation."

Oliver just ignored him and went to the woman who was at his side but the man immediately pulled her, he held her waist tightly closer to his body.

'"Take care your own reputation." Oliver laughed, "Your fiancee is my girlfriend.'' Oliver stated, and Merideth's eyes widen.

''No! That's not true!'' she denied. Oliver smiled looking at her beautifully worn expensive dress that comes from his hard-earned money.

"You look great, huh?" he complimented. "That's why you want me to buy it for you, to impress those rich men?" he asked sarcastically and she was embarrassed.

''Aren't you satisfied? Isn't everything I've done for you not enough?'' Oliver asked even though he knew she wouldn't answer. He can't even see his reflection in her eyes as if he no longer exists in her life.

''You're just messing around here, call the security.'' The man dictated but Oliver still ignored him.

''Why did you do this to me, Merideth?! Why did you betray me?!'' Oliver shrieked. The people around them are shocked after hearing it.

Of course, they took out their phones to record it. People love to watch drama.

''I don't know you!'' Merideth said it angrily. Oliver couldn't hold back his emotions, after hearing those words, but he woke up to the truth.

''So the three years, we spent together were nothing to you? Did you suddenly forget it? Or is your love just fake and all this time you made me a fool? Did you take advantage of me?!" she couldn't answer it, she couldn't look at Oliver directly.

Oliver shakes his head.

He remembers, the day they met, she was very sweet and caring, and she made him feel like he was the luckiest man on earth. Unfortunately. It is very far from the woman he is facing now.

''Wait a minute, is this the man you say is hurting you?'' the CEO's son interrupted. Oliver frowned a bit at what he said. Then he saw Merideth nod.

''Yes! He scares me. He hurts me," Merideth dictated. She looked at Oliver with a smirk, she suddenly turned to the cell phone that was focused on Oliver.

"What are you talking about?! " Oliver stunned.

He shouldn't be more surprised by how the tables have turned.

''This man! He is a bad person! He used me to get into this company. Yes. It's true! We had a relationship before but he deceived me so it's over now because my fiancé saved me from this cruel man!'' she cried.

"Even if you turn the story upside down, I know you know what happened. Don't mislead everyone because the truth will prevail in the end," Oliver reminded her with a bitter smile on his lips.

The CEO's son faced him and looked at him angrily.

''Get out of here before I'll do something you never like,'' he threatened, trying to scare Oliver.

''And who the hell are you? The CEO's son? Then what?!'' Oliver asked uninterestedly. He looked at him blankly.

''Me? I'm not just a CEO's son. I'm Carter Johnson who inherits the entire company,'' he proudly introduced himself, flexing his tuxedo, "If you lick my shoes, I may consider to forgive you."

"Good decision, 'cause you might regret it later."

Oliver didn't think twice, he clenched his fist and strongly punched her ex-girlfriend's fiancé in the face.
