Chapter 1: The Anniversary Gift

Chapter 1: The Anniversary Gift

"It's so hot today, gotta reach home and take a quick shower." Tom mutters, stepping out of a store with his faded black shirt stain with sweats.

The late afternoon sun blazed against Tom’s skin as he stepped out of the jewelry store, the damp sweat on his body was excessive as if he hasn't taken a bath yet. In his hand, he clutched a small velvet box. He had spent three painstaking years saving every spare penny, skipping meals, and working overtime to afford the one thing he thought would bring his wife joy—a diamond ring. It wasn’t extravagant by any means, but it symbolized every ounce of love and effort he had poured into their marriage.

His heart raced with excitement as he held it, his steps lighter than they had been in months as he made his way towards home. He could already picture Jess's face lighting up with surprise and happiness, the way her eyes would sparkle as she slipped the ring onto her finger. It was their third anniversary—a milestone he had wanted to make unforgettable as the other two were he wasn't able to celebrate it with her since he couldn't afford anything to surprised her.

As he walked down the crowded street, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He fumbled to answer it, almost dropping the ring box in his haste.

"Hey, honey," Jess's voice came through, smooth and sweet. "Are you on your way home?"

"I just left the shop," Tom replied, trying to contain his excitement. "I have a surprise for you."

Jess chuckled lightly. "A surprise? I can’t wait to see it, I also have a surprise for you. Hurry home, quick for it."

"I am on my way." Tom grinned as the call ended. His pulse quickened as he envisioned her reaction.

When he arrived home, the house was unusually quiet except for the faint sound of music drifting from the living room. The low, sultry rhythm of jazz filled the air, a stark contrast to the quiet ambiance their home usually carried. His heart swelled—she must’ve planned something special.

The lights dimmed as he stepped inside the living room, the shadows dancing on the walls. Suddenly, a spotlight flicked on, blinding him momentarily. He shielded his eyes, blinking rapidly as he tried to adjust.

“Tom!” A female voice called out, smooth and teasing.

He squinted, lowering his hand, and froze. Standing before him was Jess, her figure illuminated by the harsh spotlight. Her face was obscured, covered by a glimmering mask. Around her were several people—friends, acquaintances, even some strangers—all dressed in elegant clothes.

Tom’s brow furrowed, confusion mixing with unease. “Jess, what’s going on?”

“Nothing much, just some friends who want to celebrate with us. By the way, what did you get me for our anniversary, darling?” her voice lilted, carrying a mischievous edge.

His heart swelled again. This was it—the moment he’d been waiting for. He reached into his pocket, pulling out the velvet box. “I got you this,” he said, stepping forward.

Jess gasped dramatically. “Oh, how thoughtful!” she cooed. “Put it on my finger.”

The crowd murmured but Tom didn't hear their words as all his attention were on Jess, he didn't see their eyes gleaming with mischief. Tom hesitated, suddenly aware of how many people were watching. His throat tightened, but he stepped closer and opened the box, revealing the modest diamond ring.

"Hahahaha! I was expecting a latest top brand Diamond ring, not a Temu version." Someone suddenly mutters as soon as he spot the ring and the crowd burst into laughter, starting as a low ripple before swelling into a roar. Jess tilted her head, examining the ring as though it were a curious artifact.

“This?” she said, her tone dripping with mockery. “You spent three years on... this?”

Tom’s chest constricted. “It’s not much, but I—”

Before he could finish, someone in the crowd snickered, “Looks like something from a pawn shop.”

Another voice chimed in, “I’ve seen vending machine rings better than that!”

Heat rushed to Tom’s face as the laughter grew louder, each chuckle slicing into him like a dagger.

“Go on,” Jess said, holding out her hand. “Kiss me. Show everyone how much you love me.”

His heart pounded. The request felt odd, staged, but he stepped forward anyway, leaning in, since when they were married, Tom couldn't remember when last they got intimate.

Just as their faces drew close, something cold and wet splattered against his cheek. He flinched, stepping back as laughter erupted around him.

“Happy anniversary!” someone shouted, holding an empty plate smeared with frosting.

Tom wiped the cake from his face, his ears burning as more laughter exploded. He scanned the room, his vision blurring as humiliation crashed over him.

“Poor Tom,” a woman sneered, her voice dripping with fake pity. “All that effort, and this is the thanks he gets?”

“Maybe next time, aim for something a bit more... impressive,” another jeered.

Jess turned to the crowd, a sly smile on her lips. “Relax, everyone. It’s just a joke. Isn’t that right, Tom?”

His mouth opened, but no words came out. Shame, that was what he felt, it was like he was a big shot with pride who was suddenly dropped into the poor men categories but wherever he goes he will still be humiliated by both poor and rich people.

Watching as 'Jess' sauntered over to him, plucking the ring box from his trembling hands. “Thanks for the effort,” she said, tossing the box onto the coffee table like a piece of trash. “But let’s be honest, Tom. You’ve never been good enough for my friend.”

The room fell silent, the weight of her words hanging in the air.

"Your... Friend?" Tom's chest tighten as he asked subconsciously.

Hearing his words and seeing the look of nervousness, Jess calmly removed the mask on her face and immediately Tom saw the person behind the mask, anger exploded on his face, "Jennifer! How could you do such a thing?! Do you think Jess will be happy about you impersonating her and making fun of me here!?" He roared in anger after finally knowing who was behind this.

No wonder!

The real Jess will never do such thing to him!

She was loving, compassionate and kind! How can she make mockery of him before everyone?!

Jennifer and Jes have the same figure and voice which always makes it hard for others to differentiate them when they wear mask to cover their faces.

"Oh, shut up, peasant. You work for three years and this is what you were able to afford? As for Jess being happy, well," Jennifer paused with a sly smile before adding, "why will she care when she has a better gift with her, upstairs?"

"What do you mean, better gift upstairs? You bought her a gift? This is our anniversary and it has nothing to do with you so why buy her gift?" Tom’s chest tightened as the his instincts threatened to spill. He turned, bolting toward the bedroom, desperate to see what Jennifer meant by those words.

“Where are you going?” Jennifer called after him, her voice laced with mock concern. “Don’t you want to join the celebration here? I'm warning you, your naive heart wouldn't be able to handle it.”

He didn’t answer, but kept walking toward his room but his movement suddenly came to a halt and he started sweating bullets as he heard the moans of a woman and the wet sounds of flesh hitting flesh against each other

Moreover, he was fearful that the sound of the woman who was moaning seemed similar to the voice of his wife

' No what am I thinking Jess would never cheat on me, she is too innocent to do such a thing' Tom shook his head repeatedly

He did not open the door immediately but let his ears feed him information, the more he heard the sound of the woman the more nervous he became and a sudden memory emerged in his mind

' N-no way, Impossible' Tom tremble.

"No, Jess would never cheat on me." Tom repeatedly shook his head continuously and with trembling hands, he slowly opened the door

When he saw the scene in front of him, his eyes turned bloodshot and his legs grew weak as a result he almost fell down on his butt, his breathing turned ragged and his body was trembling in intense anger that was waiting to erupt like a volcano

In front of him was his wife Jess who was naked and was riding a cock like a slut with a flushed look on her face and the man below her he couldn't recognise.

The man and Jess made eye contact with Tom and a sly smile appeared on their face for a brief second as they resumed their activities while completely ignoring him.

"Ahh...Ahhh...Ahhh~"

"Yes...So Good...It is much bigger than my useless husband's cock I saw 2 year ago, compared to your's his own is but a trash. Ahhh~"

"Pound me harder... Ahhh, reach where he can never reach.... Ahhh~"

Tom almost coughed out a mouthful of blood when he heard his wife say that his little brother was trash, seeing such a painful scene which hurt him to no end, Tom felt like he was breaking down mentally.

"STOP, YOU BASTARDS" Tom roared at the top of his voice with murderous intent.
