2022-10-09 23:53:46After he made a bet with the bullies that became the new hot topic at the University of Jared, everyone was talking about it eventually it got to the ears of the professors and then one professor took a particular interest in it, a lanky disciplinarian had graduated from the University for over three decades as the best of his year.
So he summoned both of the boys to his office because he wanted to make some things clear.
"A wizard's word is not to be taken lightly..."
he said to both of them.
"... and in this university, we did not only teach you how to hone your powers, but how to become responsible members of society that can handle this power... and responsible people do not lie or go back on their word..."
The reason for his long speech was actually that he wanted to get involved in the bet. He had been one of the professors that had been most disappointed when Rex stopped developing.
He had hoped that he would be the student that would finally break his record, so after hearing that Rex had learnt another entrance he wanted to keep the ball rolling.
"So what I am trying to say is that if any of you decide to go back on your word I will immediately have that person expelled, and I am sure that I don't have to say this too but just to be clear if any of you use any underhanded methods to pass this exam then you will also be punished severely and expelled as well..."
Both boys were practically shivering in their seats, but then the man's face came down and he had this sort of grandfatherly look.
"However the winner will receive a special magical item from me,"
This immediately filled the boys with excitement, and both of them promised to work very hard.
When Rex came out of the office he noticed that the other boy was still glaring at him, and when he looked back at him the glare turned into a twisted smile.
"I suggest that you better start packing up your bags. It will make it easier when they kick you out of the university..."
After he said Rex cocked his eyebrow.
"When did you start talking to yourself?"
The taller male gritted his teeth.
"you're still acting tough huh just wait till I'm done with you, you won't be so cocky when they kick you out on your nos-"
he suddenly looked over Rex's head and then snickered.
"Do you have a bell or something that keeps attracting your girlfriend when you are in trouble?
"What girlfr-"
Rex snap his head back to see that Lyra was standing behind them, with a frown on her face that was targeted at the bully, Kelvin held up his hands and then sent a stupid smirk at Rex.
"I better run away now before your girlfriend tries to throw hands..."
and then he dashed off before Rex could even say anything to reply, after he left Rex just sighed and started walking towards the library so that he could begin studying, the exam was not that close yet but he needed to make sure that he got the best Mark because he did not have 100 gold bars and he definitely wasn't leaving the university either something else that wasn't leaving was the girl Lyra.
She kept following him by his side as if she was a familiar, constantly asking him questions like how he was or how his meeting with the professor went. It seemed like Rex could not even blow his nose without it becoming the entire gossip of the university didn't they have anything better to do?
Finally, Rex stood in front of the door of the huge library, Jared magical university had some of the rarest books of magic in existence and kept them safe for the use of her students, which was why it was not strange to find researchers there, wizards who were probably digging into lore or something like that.
The library was so broad that was why Rex was so surprised when he had not found anything about his condition there. The voice had not spoken to him since then and he had not talked about it with anybody, not even the professors, because he did not want anybody else to think that he was crazy.
"Are you going to start reading now? I can join you it will make the process faster"
she offered as he was opening the doors of the library and then I closed it back looking at her with exhaustion in his eyes.
"Why exactly are you being so nice to me now? why don't you just keep ignoring me like how you have been doing before?"
The girl looked at him, unable to say anything for a few moments before she mumbled.
"I'm sorry I should have spoken up sooner... but all my friends were discouraging me and telling me that I would end up being hated by the whole school if I did that..."
after she said that Rex sighed again.
"well you should probably listen to your friends hanging out with me is not going to give you anything and you will just regret it in the long ru-"
"No!"
she suddenly said, shaking her head.
"I've been trying to hold myself back all this time and the truth is that I don't care if the entire school hates me as long as I don't end up hating myself..."
Rex saw the determination in her eyes and knew that she was not going to give up and so finally he held the door of the library open.
"All right then but don't say I did not warn you because I definitely did..."
she beamed a wild smile following him in then he turned and said to her.
"There's something that I want to tell you, just remember we are not friends, we're just studying together."
