Chapter six
Meanwhile, in a luxurious reservation inside Lycon Hotel, Charlotte, who had just spoken with Lucas, was seated on the sofa as she hung up the phone. Her smile was as radiant as ever as she had just confirmed that he was on his way. Unable to wait any longer, she turned to the side where her friend, Casey Morgan, was seated. She was a gorgeous lady with perfect curves and blond hair. As Charlotte leaned over, she spoke happily. “Guess what? Lucas is on his way. He is a very hardworking man, even in his studies. Both of you will be a perfect match. Just wait, he is on his way. You will like him.” Casey pulled her earpiece out and looked at her. Her expression remained unreadable before she crossed her legs. “Okay.” Both Charlotte and Casey had known each other for a long time and it prompted them to go to college together, but even as they weren’t studying the same course, their friendship had never gone apart. Today being Charlotte's birthday, she hadn’t only invited Casey but also Lucas’s Roommates to attend her birthday party. It was like having a dorm mixer party. Furthermore, Charlotte had found out recently that Casey had been single throughout her high school years and even now that she was in college. To change that, she had been looking for a boyfriend, and that was when Lucas came into the picture. After all he had been single too and since he was a very good friend of Charlotte, she knew more about him and what’s more, she felt he was the suited person for her best friend, Casey. Just then, Charlotte walked over to the table, took a cup of pineapple juice, and brought it over for Casey. “Take this. You’ll like it.” She smiled as she handed it over. Crack! However, abruptly, the door was pushed open surprising everyone, and they twirled their heads in the direction expecting to see it was Lucas but who they saw was different. It was James Patel. The punk who had humiliated Lucas. To her surprise, this morning, she learned that he had toyed with Lucas. This made her swell in anger, and she barged into his dorm to give him a thorough warning. Now that he was here, she looked at him in disgust, as she felt he was here to make trouble. “What do you want?” She turned towards him and sneered. He had to be so thick-skinned to think of showing his face so shamelessly in a place where he wasn't needed. “Come on, Charlotte, are you still angry? I was only joking around with Lucas. I never thought he was going to deliver it.” James said faking to be innocent when it was obvious that he wasn’t. Hearing this, Charlotte hissed. She looked over and saw he came with his Roommate too, and each of them brought gifts. On the contrary, Charlotte's parents were also rich. Though she had tried to help Lucas countless times before, he had been unwilling to accept her help. James had known her for long too, so he didn’t dare to look down or mess with her as he knew what he would be getting right after. However, while this was going on, Casey had already taken off her earpiece. An expression emerged on her face as she stood up and walked up to Charlotte. “Charlotte, the Lucas you mentioned earlier, is it same Lucas you want to introduce me to? Is this the extent to which you have downgraded me to or what?” Casey's brows knitted together as she spoke. As soon as James heard this, his eyes flashed with excitement. He had longed to be in a relationship with Casey here as she was the school belle in every department. That was precisely why he came to Charlotte's birthday and brought some fancy gifts not only to present to Charlotte but to impress Casey and make her see how capable of a man he was. But what did he just hear? Charlotte wanted to hook her up with Lucas? That loser who could never hold a torch to him? Never. “Ooh, Miss Casey, you mean Lucas? I know him. He is very poor and filthy. Yesterday…” James paused and began to chuckle so hard, piquing her curiosity. As he recounted the incident yesterday on how he sent Lucas to deliver a pack of condoms to Alexander so he could hear his way with his ex, he just couldn’t contain the feeling. He laughed until there were tears in his eyes. But then he summarized everything in a few sentences. “You, watch your mouth!” Charlotte clenched her fist, feeling like skinning him alive. Casey and her friends immediately frowned. They couldn’t believe there could be such a poor person and what’s more, the story was humiliating. Lucas' roommates became pale as the never expected such incident to be leaked here. indeed James was worthless, and nothing good could ever come out of that mouth of his. “Okay, let’s forget about that trash bag.” James suddenly said with a smile before pulling his gift out. “Come, Charlotte, I bought you a gift.” However, before she could reply, a light knock came on the door. Knock! Knock! Looking toward it, the door creaked open and Lucas walked in with a pink bag. “Lucas, you came?” Charlotte rushed towards him, smiling. Lucas smiled and couldn’t help but look around. There were a lot of people whom he didn’t expect. Amidst this, he took notice of James, who was now scorning him. Lucas ignored him and tried his best to feel relaxed. In the past, he would have felt inferior in the presence of such rich folks, but now, after what happened today, after finding out that his friends were rich, how could he? The feeling had blown up in the smoke already. “He is Lucas?” Casey lifted her eyes' eyebrow to stare at him. Though she wanted a boyfriend, it wasn’t that necessary if his parents were very wealthy. But, he had to be presentable at least. Adding to that, he had to be attractive and have good traits that could attract her. However, Lucas was like the rock bottom option, too ordinary, too unworthy of her. Especially what she heard from James not long ago, Lucas' image had already been destroyed completely to her. The more she thought about it, the more the frown on her face deepened. “Lucas, this is Casey and her friends. Come, let’s sit and talk. Let’s all get to know each other.” Charlotte smiled as she introduced them to each other. Lucas smiled. “My name is Lucas, it's a pleasure to meet you.” He then reached out his hand politely. To his surprise, Casey ignored him to keep sipping on her pineapple juice. She left Lucas's hand hanging in the air. He could only retract his hand, feeling slightly embarrassed. With everyone watching, the feeling couldn’t be helped. Seeing this, Charlotte could easily guess the situation. After all, she knew Casey more than anyone else. If she liked someone, she would have chatted with them a little and tried to get to know them. But if she wasn’t attracted to you, then her actions just now explained it all. Charlotte felt awkward not knowing how to address the situation. She could see that Lucas was sad. He walked off and was about to sit when James who was studying him closely noticed something. He smiled and spoke loudly. “Lucas, what gift did you buy for Charlotte's birthday? I am sure everyone will want to see. Come on, show it to us. At once, everyone’s eyes turned towards Lucas, especially at the pink bag he was holding.Latest Chapter

Chapter 121A few months later....For three months, Lucas had lived in this self-imposed exile. The sharp, promising scholarship student was gone, a ghost replaced by this pale, focused operative. His crime had been curiosity; his sentence, social and academic obliteration. The Sentinel System—the university’s all-seeing, all-judging digital panopticon designed for “community harmony and proactive wellness”—had been turned against him with surgical precision. It had started with a research fellowship under Professor Alistair Finch, a charismatic pioneer in campus predictive analytics. Lucas, diving deep into the Sentinel’s source code for his thesis on algorithmic bias, had found the “Oracles”: a set of privileged, hidden administrative accounts that could inject data, alter behavioral flags, and manipulate the all-important “Civic Trust Score” without a trace. The Oracles weren’t a bug; they were a backdoor, woven into the system’s very fabric. His forensic trail led not to a hacker

Chapter 120The choice was made. Path Three: Subversion. Now, Lucas Johnson had to build his arsenal. His intelligence was vast, scattered across encrypted drives, cloud snippets, and the labyrinthine corridors of his own memory. To wage a war from inside the enemy's walls, he needed it weaponized: organized, accessible, and protected with the kind of failsafes that would make attacking him the costliest mistake Sentinel could ever make.He began by designing the architecture. This wasn't a simple folder of documents. It was a strategic database, a war room in digital form. He used a custom, open-source database platform, heavily modified and hardened, running on a standalone machine never connected to any network. He called it **Project Labyrinth**.**Labyrinth** was divided into interconnected sectors, each a pillar of the coming offensive.**Sector A: The Human Cost.** Here, he compiled the dossiers of every verified victim. Julian Morrow's toxicology report and the link to the Pal

Chapter 119The blueprint was complete. The machine—Sentinel’s vast, silent engine of acquisition—was laid bare in his mind, every gear, every wire, every chilling protocol mapped. The inheritance, that shimmering miracle that had guided his life for years, was now revealed as the central cog in that machine. It was no longer a question of what had happened to him. It was a question of what **Lucas Johnson** would do next. He stood at a precipice defined by three distinct, terrifying paths.**Path One: Acceptance.** He could play the part. He could stop his investigation, allow the “tests” to conclude, and accept the full inheritance when it was offered. He would receive the keys to Tier-II assets: the investment portfolio, the seed capital, the life of secure, gilded comfort. In exchange, he would enter their world. A debriefing, likely with Dr. Aris Thorne or the ghostly Axiom. An orientation. He would be given a role—perhaps in SACE-PSYOPS, analyzing new targets. Or in Ouroboros, m
Chapter 118
Chapter 118For months, Lucas had been a cartographer of his own persecution, mapping each cruelty back to its source. He had charts of SACE's divisions, dossiers on operatives and handlers, financial trails leading to defense contracts and blood minerals, and chilling protocols for non-compliance. But standing back from the vast mosaic of data, a single, coherent image finally emerged. It was no longer a collection of terrifying parts. It was a machine. A machine with a singular, chilling purpose.Sentinel Systems was not a wealth management firm that dabbled in psychological manipulation. It was the opposite. It was a **human capital acquisition engine**, and wealth management was its camouflage, its fuel source, and its reward mechanism. The inheritance structure was the perfect cover. It provided a plausible, even laudable, explanation for sudden fortune. It attracted exactly the kind of individuals they wanted: the brilliant, the ambitious, the vulnerable outsiders hungry for a c
