Ryan's jaw dropped at the sheer absurdity of what Jasper had just said, especially the way he had compared himself to his father. The insult struck a nerve. And not only that, Jasper was nothing more than a pathetic simp for his sister. How dare he humiliate me like this together.

He shot to his feet. “Look, you can't keep insulting me like this! Why should I call you Daddy? Because of a $2,000 meal?”

Jasper sneered. “If you think it's just $2,000, then pay for it. Oh, you can't, can you? Because you're nothing but a parasite who has been living off me!”

Emma could no longer take it. “You can't keep insulting my brother like this! You're going too far. Do you even want to marry me? Because I can't marry someone with this kind of attitude. Why have you suddenly changed?”

Jasper gave her a cold, mocking smile. “Marry you? Do you seriously think you're some kind of catch? Why are you so sure I'm desperate to marry you?”

Emma froze. His behavior today was completely out of character. The Jasper she knew loved her deeply. He was a complete fool when it came to her. If she asked him to mop an entire river, he would probably grab a mop and start looking for a bucket.

But the man standing before her now was different.

Jasper continued calmly, “And I know exactly what you are planning. After I paid this $2,000 bill, you were going to bring up some sudden wedding before I could even leave. Then you would tell me you need $200,000 for it and expect me to foot the entire bill.”

The color drained from Emma's face. That was exactly what she had planned. “How... did you know?”

Ryan also stared at Jasper in shock.

Emma immediately realized her mistake and tried to cover it up. “I—I was only thinking about our wedding. I care about us, and I want something big for us. A wedding only happens once in a lifetime. What's wrong with taking it seriously?”

“So you really expect me to spend $200,000 on it? All by myself?”

She gulped and nodded. “It would be a lavish wedding, of course. One that would give you face. Don't you want your friends and family to see how successful you are?”

Jasper let out a cold laugh. Emma really was a master manipulator. “Is that really what it's about?” he asked. “Because I know very well that the $200,000 isn't even for the wedding. You are planning to secretly use it to pay off Ryan's gambling debts, aren't you?”

Emma and Ryan were both stunned. Their heads snapped toward each other. That was exactly what they had been planning. They had discussed it privately, and no one else knew. How could Jasper possibly know?

Ryan slipped. “How... did you know that too?”

Jasper scoffed. “I know more than you think. You'd be even more shocked if I started telling you everything I know.”

Emma's face went pale the moment Ryan's words left his mouth. She had not expected him to admit it so easily. Then she quickly snapped back to reality.

“So what if that's true?” Emma demanded. “What exactly does it matter?”

“My brother is in serious trouble!” she continued. “Those people are threatening him. They're even threatening to kill him. He could end up in prison because of those debts. You have $200,000 right now. What's wrong with using it to save him? He's your future brother-in-law!”

Jasper stared at her as though she had just said something ridiculous, he was now very angry as he twisted his fist. “You really have the nerve to say that? Are you crazy!”

“That $200,000 is compensation money for my father's leg being crushed at work. It was paid because he was injured and can no longer work like he used to. That money is supposed to secure my parents' retirement.”

He pointed toward Ryan. “And you want me to hand it over because of his stupidity? His gambling. His greed. His reckless decisions.”

Emma shot back, “What retirement? Are you saying I wouldn't take care of your father after taking the money? Of course I would! I would take care of him so well that he wouldn't even feel disabled until he passed away”

Jasper suddenly fell silent. Her words dragged him into a memory he desperately wished he could forget. In his previous life, he had fallen for exactly this statement.

He had loved her so deeply that when she asked for the $200,000, he never once considered refusing. He handed over every cent without hesitation, believing that she was his future wife and that her family would eventually become his family too.

But instead of being grateful, they only became more demanding. Ryan continued gambling. Every time he lost money, he came running to Jasper. He would foolishly give him.

Later on, Jasper wasn't only paying Ryan's debts. He was also covering Emma's parents' living expenses. Rent, food, medical bills—everything became his responsibility.

Eventually, Jasper couldn't take it anymore. He once broke down in tears and begged Emma to make her family stop. But she didn't show him the slightest bit of pity. Instead, she coldly told him to borrow money from loan sharks so they could keep up with their expenses. Just so her family could continue living comfortably.

Jasper had wanted to resist. Back then, he had thought about divorce countless times. But by then, they had a child. Emma knew exactly how to use that child against him. Custody and Child support.

Whenever he mentioned leaving, she would threaten to keep the child away from him. And the thought of losing the only person he believed was truly his own always made him back down.

There was another problem. If he forced a divorce, the financial consequences could destroy him. A large portion of his future income could be awarded to Emma, leaving him struggling to survive while her family continued benefiting from everything he earned.

So he endured. He borrowed money from loan sharks, and worked four different part-time jobs. He worked until his body could barely keep going.

And slowly, his entire life was drained away. His parents suffered alongside him. The people who had sacrificed everything for him ended up living miserably because he had spent their money trying to satisfy Emma's family. And then, at the very end of his life, Jasper discovered the cruelest truth of all.

The child he had spent years working for!—the very reason he had endured everything and couldn't bring himself to divorce Emma, wasn't even his!!!. He found out the truth when he was already dying.

Everything he had sacrificed, endured and believed in was all a lie. He had lived a useless life as a prodigal son. Who abandoned his own parents for another family satisfaction, but that wouldn't be the case now!.

Emma saw that Jasper had gone silent, she grew even more impatient. “If you don't pay up right now, I won't marry you!” she snapped. “We're breaking up!”.

Jasper finally snapped out of his memories. A smile appeared on his face. “Fantastic. That's exactly what I came here for. Since you brought up breaking up, we're officially broken up.”

He turned to leave.

The entire restaurant fell silent.Whispers immediately spread among the surrounding tables.

“Did he really just break up with her?”

“Is that actually Jasper? The simp, who used to do anything for her?”

“He finally woke up?”

Emma was equally stunned. She just used that to threaten him, and he agreed just like that?.

Without Jasper's $200,000, her brother could actually end up in prison. Desperate, she rushed forward and grabbed his arm. Anyone watching would have thought she was about to beg him to stay.

Jasper turned around furiously. “What do you want now?”

“Pay!” Emma demanded. “You need to pay for this meal, and you need to give me the money to save my brother's life!”

Jasper didn't expect Emma to be so shameless, asking him money after he announced his break up, “I already told you I'm not paying. Can't you understand human speech?”

“I don't care!” Emma shouted. “We have been together for years! You owe me hundreds of thousands of dollars as compensation for my lost youth!. You wasted my youth!” She kept screaming, pulling his shirt.

That sentence was the final straw. Slap! Jasper's palm struck her face hard, leaving the entire restaurant stunned.

Nice meeting you again.”Claire then took the initiative to hugged him, still grinning. After that, she looked at him from head to toe. The first thing she noticed was his suit. It was clearly expensive, perfectly fitted, and nothing like the simple clothes he used to wear back in school. She could felt the aura coming from him. “You have changed so much,” she said, her eyes moving over him curiously. “And this suit… You look completely different. You seem really wealthy now.”Jasper chuckled. “It’s nothing special. Just pure luck.”Then she laughed it off.“By the way, thank you so much for helping me back there. Seriously. Who knows what might have happened if you hadn't shown up?, what can I do to repay you”Jasper waved his hand dismissively. “It was nothing. But if you really want to repay me, there
