The park was quiet at this hour. The children had gone home. The parents had packed up their picnics. The only sounds were the birds in the trees and the distant hum of traffic. Ethan stood at the edge of the playground, watching Sophia sit alone on a bench. She was staring at the empty swings. Her hands were clasped in her lap. She looked smaller than he remembered. Broken. Hollow.
Ethan walked toward her. His steps were slow. Deliberate. He had not seen her like this since the early days of their marriage. Back when they were young and in love. Back before the Wus had poisoned everything.
Sophia looked up as he approached. Her eyes widened. She did not recognize him at first. He was still wearing the Daniel Young disguise. The suit. The face. The confidence. But then he reached up and removed the mask. He showed her his real face. The face of the man she had married. The man she had abandoned.
Sophia gasped. She jumped to her feet. Her hands flew to her mouth. "Ethan? Oh my God. Ethan, is that really you?"
"Hello, Sophia," Ethan said. His voice was flat. Empty. "It has been a while."
Sophia took a step back. Her face was pale. Her hands were shaking. "You have to leave. If Marcus finds out you are here, he will kill you. He has people everywhere."
"I know," Ethan said. "I have already met some of them. They are not very good at their jobs."
Sophia stared at him. She looked confused. Terrified. "What are you doing here? Why did you come? You should have stayed hidden. You should have stayed away."
Ethan stepped closer. His eyes were cold. "I came for Lily. I came to save my daughter. The daughter you abandoned. The daughter you let the Wus poison."
Sophia's face crumpled. Tears started streaming down her cheeks. "I know. I know what they did. I know what I let them do. I am so sorry. I am so sorry."
"Sorry is not good enough," Ethan said. "Lily is dying. She is in a safe house right now, fighting for her life. While you are here, sitting in a park, feeling sorry for yourself."
Sophia sobbed. Her whole body shook. "You do not understand. They threatened me. Marcus said he would kill me if I told anyone. He said he would kill you too. I was scared. I was so scared."
Ethan looked at her. He felt no pity. Only cold anger. "You were scared? Imagine how Lily felt. Imagine being six years old, hooked up to machines, slowly dying, and not understanding why. Imagine being abandoned by your own mother."
Sophia fell to her knees. She was crying uncontrollably. "I know. I know what I did. I hate myself every day. I wake up in the middle of the night screaming. I cannot eat. I cannot sleep. I am a monster."
Ethan watched her for a long moment. Part of him wanted to walk away. To leave her here in her misery. But he needed her. He needed her help.
"Sophia," Ethan said. "Look at me."
She looked up. Her face was streaked with tears. Her eyes were red and swollen. She looked pathetic. Broken. Completely destroyed.
"I have evidence," Ethan said. "I have proof of everything the Wus have done. The poison. The murders. The coverups. I have enough to destroy them completely. But I need your help."
Sophia blinked. "My help? What can I do?"
"You know Marcus's secrets," Ethan said. "You know his business deals. His private schedule. His weaknesses. You know where he hides his money. You know who he is afraid of. I need you to tell me everything."
Sophia hesitated. Her eyes flickered with fear. "If I betray him, he will kill me. He will kill us both."
"He is going to try anyway," Ethan said. "The only way we survive is if we strike first. We expose him. We destroy him. We take everything from him the way he took everything from us."
Sophia was silent for a long moment. Then she nodded slowly. "Alright. I will help you. I will tell you everything I know."
Ethan pulled a folder out of his pocket. He handed it to her. Inside were copies of the evidence he had gathered. The medical records. The lab results. The photographs. The testimonies.
"Read this," Ethan said. "Look at what they did to our daughter. Look at what they did to us. Then tell me if you still want to protect them."
Sophia took the folder. She opened it. Her eyes scanned the pages. Her face grew paler with each word. Her hands started shaking. By the time she reached the end, she was sobbing again.
"Dear God," Sophia whispered. "They poisoned her. They made her sick on purpose. They were going to let her die."
"Yes," Ethan said. "They were. But we are going to stop them. We are going to save Lily. We are going to destroy the Wus. Together."
Sophia looked up at him. Her eyes were filled with tears. But there was something else there too. Determination. Rage. The same rage Ethan felt burning in his chest.
"What do you need me to do?" Sophia asked.
Ethan sat down beside her on the bench. He told her his plan. Everything. The evidence. The antidote. The system. The vault. He held nothing back. He needed her to understand. He needed her to be fully committed.
Sophia listened without interrupting. She nodded at the right moments. She asked questions when she did not understand. She was focused. Sharp. The woman he had married was still in there somewhere. Buried beneath the fear and the lies and the shame.
"When do we start?" Sophia asked.
"Now," Ethan said. "I have already laid the groundwork. The police are on our side. I have been feeding them information for days. They are ready to move. All they need is the final piece. Your testimony."
Sophia took a deep breath. "I will do it. I will testify against them. I will tell the world everything I know."
Ethan nodded. "Good. That is all I needed to hear."
He stood up. He started to walk away. But Sophia grabbed his arm. "Ethan, wait. Please. I need to ask you something."
Ethan turned around. "What?"
Sophia looked at him. Her eyes were searching. Desperate. "Do you think you can ever forgive me? Do you think we can ever be a family again?"
Ethan was silent for a long moment. He thought about all the years they had spent together. The laughter. The love. The hope. He thought about the moment he had held Lily in his arms for the first time. He thought about the moment Sophia had walked out the door.
"No," Ethan said. "I cannot forgive you. Maybe someday. But not now. Not after everything that has happened."
Sophia's face crumpled. She looked away. "I understand. I do not deserve your forgiveness."
"Maybe you do not," Ethan said. "But Lily does. She still loves you. She still asks about you. She still draws pictures of our family. She is the only reason I am giving you this chance."
Sophia nodded. Tears were streaming down her face again. "I will do whatever it takes to make things right. I will spend the rest of my life trying to earn her forgiveness. I promise."
Ethan turned away. He started walking. He did not look back.
Then he heard a sound. A familiar voice. Cold and mocking. "Well, well, well. What do we have here? A little family reunion?"
Ethan spun around. Marcus was standing at the edge of the park. He had a gun in his hand. Pointed directly at Sophia's head. His face was twisted with rage. His eyes were wild. He looked like a man who had completely lost control.
"Marcus," Sophia said. Her voice was trembling. "Please. Put the gun down. We can talk about this."
"Talk?" Marcus laughed. "You want to talk? You were about to betray me. You were about to destroy everything I have built. And you want to talk?"
Ethan stepped forward. "Marcus. Put the gun down. This is between you and me. Leave her out of it."
Marcus turned to Ethan. His eyes were burning with hatred. "You. I should have killed you years ago. I should have killed you when you were still weak. Still pathetic. Still hiding."
"But you did not," Ethan said. "And now I am stronger than you will ever be."
Marcus laughed again. "Stronger? You are nothing. You are a loser. A failure. Your mother was a failure. Your family was a failure. Everything you touch turns to dust."
Ethan felt a surge of rage. But he kept his face calm. He kept his voice steady. "You are right about one thing. My mother died. But she did not die in an accident. She was murdered. By your mother. By Helen Wu."
Marcus's face flickered. A moment of uncertainty. Then it was gone. "So what? Your mother was a threat. She had to be eliminated. Just like you have to be eliminated. Just like your daughter has to be eliminated."
Marcus raised the gun. He pointed it at Sophia. "I am going to kill her. Then I am going to kill you. Then I am going to find your daughter and finish the job."
Ethan smiled. A cold, hard smile. "No. You are not."
Marcus pulled the trigger. The gun clicked. Empty. Marcus looked down at the weapon. Confused. Terrified.
Ethan stepped forward. "I knew you were watching. I knew you would follow her. I planned for this. The police are already here. They have been listening to everything. Your own men are working for me now."
Marcus looked around. Police officers were emerging from the shadows. They had their weapons drawn. They had heard everything. The confession. The threats. The murder plot.
"You are under arrest," one of the officers said. "Marcus Wu. For conspiracy to commit murder. For poisoning a minor. For the murder of Ethan Chen's mother. You have the right to remain silent."
Marcus dropped the gun. He fell to his knees. His face was white. His eyes were wide. He looked like a man who had just seen his entire world collapse.
"This is not over," Marcus shouted. "You hear me? This is not over. My mother will destroy you. The Wu family will never stop. You are all dead. Every single one of you."
Ethan walked over to him. He leaned down. His face was inches from Marcus's.
"Your mother is next," Ethan said. "I am coming for her. And when I am done, there will be nothing left of your family. Nothing at all."
Marcus screamed. The police dragged him away. His voice faded into the distance.
Ethan turned to Sophia. She was still crying. But there was relief in her eyes. Gratitude. She stepped toward him. She reached out her hand.
"Ethan," she said. "Thank you. Thank you for not giving up on me."
Ethan looked at her. He did not take her hand. "I did not do this for you. I did it for Lily. She deserves a chance. She deserves to have her mother in her life. That is the only reason you are still standing here."
Sophia nodded. Tears streamed down her face. "I know. I will spend the rest of my life trying to be worthy of that chance."
Ethan turned away. He walked out of the park. The night air was cold. The stars were bright. He had won this battle. But the war was far from over.
The system appeared. A new message. Helen Wu is on the run. She has gone into hiding. But she is still dangerous. She will not stop until you are dead. Be careful, young master. The real enemy is still out there.
Ethan looked up at the sky. He thought about his mother. He thought about Lily. He thought about Sophia. He thought about everything he had lost. Everything he had gained.
"I am coming for you, Helen," Ethan whispered. "I am coming for all of you. Nothing will stop me. Nothing."

THE NEXT THREAT
The peaceful days did not last. Ethan should have known better. He had been around long enough to understand that happiness was fragile. That peace was temporary. That the darkness was always waiting. He was sitting in his study when the system reactivated. The blue screen flickered in front of his eyes. He had not seen it in months. He had started to believe it was gone for good. But here it was. Back again. And the message on the screen made his blood run cold.New threat detected. The true mastermind has surfaced. Your mother's killer is still alive. And they are coming for you.Ethan stared at the screen. His hands were shaking. He had thought it was over. He had thought Helen was the end of it. But the system was telling him something else. Something worse."What do you mean my mother's killer is still alive?" Ethan said. His voice was barely a whisper. "Helen confessed. She admitted everything. The system recorded it. The court heard it. She is in prison."The system responded.
THE RECKONING
The courthouse was packed. Every seat was filled. Reporters lined the walls with their cameras ready. The Wu family trial was the biggest story of the decade. Everyone wanted to see justice served.Ethan sat in the front row. Lily was beside him, holding his hand tightly. Sarah was on his other side. They had come to watch Helen Wu face her crimes. To see the woman who had destroyed so many lives finally answer for her sins.Helen sat in the defendant's box. She looked different now. Smaller. Frail. Her expensive clothes were gone. Her perfect hair was messy. Her eyes were hollow. She was just a broken woman in an orange jumpsuit. The prosecutor stood up. He was a sharp man in an expensive suit. His voice was calm but commanding. "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury. Today we present the case against Helen Wu. A woman who built her empire on murder, poison, and lies. A woman who destroyed countless lives to satisfy her greed."He laid out the case against Helen. The poison. The murders.
THE FINAL STAND
The safe house was supposed to be secure. Ethan had chosen it carefully. The system had vetted every detail. The location was off the grid. The building was unremarkable. No one should have been able to find them. But someone had.Ethan woke to the sound of breaking glass. His eyes snapped open. His body was already moving before his mind caught up. He rolled off the mattress and grabbed Lily, pulling her close. She whimpered in her sleep. He pressed his hand over her mouth."Shh," he whispered. "Do not make a sound."The system appeared in his vision. Multiple hostiles detected. Five. Armed. Entering through the ground floor. ETA thirty seconds.Ethan looked at the room. Sarah was awake now. Her eyes were wide with terror. The nurse was already moving toward the back door. She knew the escape route. They had practiced this."Sarah," Ethan said. His voice was low. Urgent. "Take Lily. Go to the secondary location. Do not stop for anything."Sarah grabbed Lily from his arms. The little

THE HIDDEN VAULT
The safe house was quiet. Ethan stood by the window, watching the street below. Sarah was in the back room, working on her research. Lily was sleeping peacefully, her small chest rising and falling with each breath. The nurse was in the corner, reading a book. Everything seemed calm. But Ethan knew better. The calm was an illusion. The storm was coming."Sarah," Ethan said. "How much longer until the antidote is ready?"Sarah looked up from her notes. Her face was tired. Her eyes were bloodshot. She had been working nonstop since they arrived. "A few more days. Maybe a week. I need more supplies. The Wu family destroyed most of my equipment. I am working with what I have."Ethan nodded. "I will get you whatever you need. Just tell me."Sarah sighed. "What I need is the original medical records. The ones the Wus have hidden in their vault. Without those, I cannot confirm the exact formula of the poison. I can make a general antidote, but it might not be strong enough. Lily might not su
THE FUGITIVE DOCTOR

He looked like a traveling businessman heading to the countryside for a meeting. No one would suspect a thing. The train arrived with a loud whistle. Ethan stepped aboard. He found a seat in the back corner. Away from the other passengers. Away from prying eyes. He pulled out his phone and studied the system's information about Doctor Sarah Chen.Sarah Chen was a brilliant researcher. Top of her class. Multiple degrees in biochemistry and pharmacology. She had been working on a new treatment for blood disorders when she stumbled onto something terrifying. A poison. Something the Wu family had been developing for years. Something they were using to control their enemies. The system displayed her file. Sarah had tried to expose the Wus. She had gone to the authorities. She had written articles. She had given
