The safe house was supposed to be secure. Ethan had chosen it carefully. The system had vetted every detail. The location was off the grid. The building was unremarkable. No one should have been able to find them.

But someone had.

Ethan woke to the sound of breaking glass. His eyes snapped open. His body was already moving before his mind caught up. He rolled off the mattress and grabbed Lily, pulling her close. She whimpered in her sleep. He pressed his hand over her mouth.

"Shh," he whispered. "Do not make a sound."

The system appeared in his vision. Multiple hostiles detected. Five. Armed. Entering through the ground floor. ETA thirty seconds.

Ethan looked at the room. Sarah was awake now. Her eyes were wide with terror. The nurse was already moving toward the back door. She knew the escape route. They had practiced this.

"Sarah," Ethan said. His voice was low. Urgent. "Take Lily. Go to the secondary location. Do not stop for anything."

Sarah grabbed Lily from his arms. The little girl was crying now, silent tears streaming down her face. She reached for her father.

"Daddy," she whispered. "Daddy, please."

Ethan kissed her forehead. His lips lingered on her soft skin. "I will find you. I promise. Go."

Sarah and the nurse disappeared through the back door. Lily's small hand stretched toward Ethan as they carried her away. Her fingers reached for him. Then she was gone. The door clicked shut behind them.

Ethan turned to face the door. The system was counting down. Fifteen seconds.

He reached for his weapon. A small pistol he had hidden under the mattress. The system had provided it. Enough bullets for a fight. He checked the clip. Six rounds. Not enough for a prolonged firefight. He would have to make every shot count.

He moved to the side of the door. He pressed his back against the wall. He listened. Footsteps. Heavy. Deliberate. Professional. These were not random thugs. These were trained killers. Helen had sent her best.

The door burst open. Three men rushed in. Silenced weapons raised. They expected to find a sleeping man and a helpless child. They found nothing but empty beds.

Ethan moved. He fired twice. Two men went down. The third spun around. Ethan was faster. He grabbed the man's wrist and twisted. The gun clattered to the floor. He slammed his palm into the man's throat. The man crumpled.

Three down. Two to go.

The system warned him. Two hostiles approaching from the rear. They had anticipated the escape route. They were already waiting.

Ethan ran. He burst through the back door. The alley was dark. Narrow. The smell of garbage and damp concrete filled his nostrils. He saw the nurse first. She was on the ground. Not moving. Blood pooled around her head. A dark stain spreading across the concrete.

Sarah was backed against the wall. A man was holding a knife to her throat. Lily was on the ground behind them, sobbing. Another man was standing over her, his weapon pointed at her small head.

"Ethan Chen," the man with the knife said. His voice was calm. Professional. No emotion at all. "Helen Wu sends her regards. She wants you to know that this is for everything you took from her."

Ethan raised his hands. His heart was pounding. His mind was racing. "Let them go. This is between me and Helen. They have nothing to do with it."

The man laughed. A cold, hollow sound. "That is not how this works. Helen wants you to suffer. She wants you to watch everyone you love die before you die too. That is the price of crossing the Wu family."

Ethan looked at Lily. She was crying. Her small body was shaking with sobs. She was terrified. She did not understand why these men wanted to hurt her. She did not understand why her daddy could not save her.

"Daddy," she whispered. Her voice was so small. So broken. "I am scared."

Ethan felt his heart crack. He had failed her. He had failed everyone. The nurse was dead. Sarah was about to die. Lily was about to die. All because he had not been fast enough. Strong enough. Smart enough.

The system appeared. A new message. Emergency protocol activated. All points converted to combat upgrades. Duration limited. Use wisely.

Ethan felt the surge of power. It was different this time. Stronger. More intense. His body hummed with energy. His senses sharpened. The world slowed down. He could hear the man's heartbeat. He could see the sweat on his brow. He could smell the fear in the air.

He moved. Faster than the men could react. He grabbed the wrist of the man holding the knife. He twisted. The bone snapped with a sickening crack. The man screamed. Ethan slammed his elbow into the man's face. Blood sprayed. The man went down.

The second man raised his weapon. Ethan was already there. He grabbed the gun and crushed it in his hand. The metal bent like paper. The man's eyes went wide with shock. Ethan punched him once. A single blow to the jaw. The man collapsed.

It was over in seconds. Both men were unconscious on the ground. Ethan stood over them. His chest was heaving. His hands were shaking. The surge of power was fading. He could feel the exhaustion creeping back in.

He turned to Lily. He gathered her in his arms. She was crying. Sobbing. Clinging to him like he was the only safe thing in the world.

"It is okay," Ethan whispered. His voice was shaking. "It is okay. I have you. I have you."

Sarah was on her knees beside the nurse. She checked for a pulse. She pressed her fingers against the woman's neck. She waited. Nothing. She shook her head. "She is gone. They killed her."

Ethan closed his eyes. The nurse had been a good woman. A kind woman. She had protected Lily with her life. She had died for his family. For his daughter.

He made a vow. He would honor her sacrifice. He would make Helen pay. He would make sure that no one else ever had to die for his family.

The system appeared. A new message. Helen Wu has been located. She is attempting to flee the country. Private jet. Departing in two hours. Her location is known. The window is closing.

Ethan looked at Sarah. His eyes were cold. Empty. "Take Lily to the secondary location. Do not leave her side. I will come back for you."

Sarah nodded. Her face was pale. Her hands were trembling. "Where are you going?"

Ethan's eyes were fixed on the horizon. "I am going to finish this. Once and for all."

Ethan arrived at the airport twenty minutes later. The private terminal was quiet at this hour. The rich and powerful flew at odd times to avoid crowds. Helen Wu was no exception. She had booked a private flight to a country with no extradition treaty. She was running. But she was not fast enough.

The system guided him through the terminal. Past security. Past the guards. He moved like a ghost. No one saw him. No one stopped him.

He reached the tarmac. Helen's private jet was waiting. A sleek white plane with the Wu family crest on the tail. The engines were warming up. The pilot was preparing for takeoff.

Ethan walked toward the plane. His steps were steady. His eyes were fixed on the prize. He could see Helen through the window. She was sitting in a leather chair. A glass of champagne in her hand. She looked calm. Composed. Like a queen on her throne.

Then she saw him.

Her face went pale. Her hand tightened around the glass. She screamed something at the pilot. The engines roared louder. The plane started to move.

Ethan ran. He sprinted across the tarmac. The system surged through his body. He was faster than the plane. He reached the door just as it was closing. He grabbed the handle. He pulled.

The door flew open. The pilot shouted something. Ethan ignored him. He stepped inside. He looked at Helen. She was on her feet now. Her champagne glass was shattered on the floor. Her face was twisted with rage and fear.

"You," Helen spat. "You ruined everything. Everything I built. Everything I worked for."

Ethan walked toward her. His steps were slow. Deliberate. "You killed my mother. You poisoned my daughter. You destroyed my family. And now you are running away."

Helen laughed. A hysterical sound. "Your mother was weak. She deserved to die. She was in my way. Just like you are in my way."

Ethan stopped in front of her. He looked into her eyes. He saw nothing but emptiness. Nothing but cold. Nothing but evil.

"You are going to pay for everything you have done," Ethan said. "You are going to rot in prison for the rest of your life. And when you die, no one will remember you. No one will mourn you. You will be forgotten."

Helen's face twisted. She reached into her purse. She pulled out a small pistol. She pointed it at Ethan's chest.

"I am not going to prison," Helen said. "I am not going to let you destroy everything I have built. I would rather die."

Ethan looked at the gun. He did not flinch. He did not move. "Then pull the trigger. Do it. Prove that you are as brave as you pretend to be."

Helen's hand was shaking. Her finger was on the trigger. But she could not pull it. She was not brave. She was just a coward. A bully who had never faced consequences.

Ethan reached out. He gently took the gun from her hand. He tossed it aside. Helen fell to her knees. She was crying now. Sobbing. Begging.

"Please," she said. "Please do not hurt me. I will give you anything. Money. Power. Anything you want."

Ethan looked down at her. He felt nothing. No pity. No satisfaction. Just emptiness.

"I do not want anything from you," Ethan said. "Except justice."

He pulled out his phone. He made a call. "She is here. The private terminal. She is not going anywhere."

Police officers swarmed the plane minutes later. They arrested Helen. They read her rights. They dragged her away in handcuffs. She was screaming. Cursing. Fighting. But it did not matter. She was done.

Ethan walked out of the plane. He stood on the tarmac. The sun was rising over the city. A new day was beginning.

The system appeared. A final message. Mission complete. Helen Wu has been neutralized. The Wu empire has fallen. Justice has been served.

Ethan looked at the screen. "Is it over? Is it finally over?"

The system paused. Then it responded. The immediate threat has been eliminated. But there are still questions unanswered. The true mastermind remains unknown. Your mother's killer is still out there. The hunt is not over. But for now, you can rest.

Ethan nodded. He was tired. So tired. But he was not done. Not yet.

He walked away from the airport. He had a daughter to get back to. A life to rebuild. A future to fight for.

The war was not over. But he had won this battle. And that was enough for now.

She had been working nonstop since they arrived. "A few more days. Maybe a week. I need more supplies. The Wu family destroyed most of my equipment. I am working with what I have."Ethan nodded. "I will get you whatever you need. Just tell me."Sarah sighed. "What I need is the original medical records. The ones the Wus have hidden in their vault. Without those, I cannot confirm the exact formula of the poison. I can make a general antidote, but it might not be strong enough. Lily might not su
