The door clicked shut behind Ethan. The sound was soft but final. Doctor Thompson looked up from his desk, his face draining of color the moment he saw the stranger standing in his private office. Ethan had removed the hat and the fake beard in the hallway. His real face was visible now. Thompson recognized him immediately. The father of the dying girl. The man he had been paid to destroy.

"Please," Thompson said. His hands were shaking. A pen rolled off his desk and clattered to the floor. "Please don't hurt me. I have a family."

Ethan walked around the desk slowly. Each step was deliberate. Measured. The doctor pressed himself back in his chair like a cornered animal. His eyes darted to the door, calculating if he could make a run for it.

"The door is locked," Ethan said. His voice was flat. Empty. "I already checked."

Thompson's shoulders sagged. He knew he was trapped. The office was small. No windows. No other exits. Just a desk, some filing cabinets, and a terrified man who was about to face the consequences of his choices.

"I can explain everything," Thompson said quickly. "You have to understand. They gave me no choice. The Wu family, they threatened me. They said they would kill my children if I didn't cooperate."

Ethan leaned forward. His hands pressed flat against the desk. His face was inches from the doctor's. "My daughter is six years old. She draws pictures of our family. She asks me every day why her mommy doesn't visit anymore. She is dying because of you."

Thompson started crying. Real tears. Ugly sobs. His whole body trembled. "I know. I know what I did. I hated myself every single day. But I was scared. You don't know what they are capable of."

"Then tell me," Ethan said. "Tell me everything. Start from the beginning. And do not leave out a single detail."

The doctor took a shaky breath. He wiped his face with his sleeve. His voice was hoarse when he began to speak. "It started six months ago. A man came to my office. He had an envelope full of cash. He told me there was a little girl coming in for tests. He said I needed to make sure the results looked bad. Very bad."

Ethan felt his jaw clench. His fingernails dug into his palms. "Who was the man?"

"I don't know his real name. He worked for the Wu family. They have many people like him. Enforcers. Runners. People who do the dirty work so the family stays clean." Thompson paused. His eyes were pleading. "I took the money. I know it was wrong. But I thought it was just a one time thing. Just a simple favor."

"But it wasn't," Ethan said.

"No. It wasn't." Thompson shook his head. "The next week, another man came. This time it was one of the Wu family's doctors. He gave me a medication. He told me to administer it to the girl during her treatments. He said it would make her condition progress naturally. No one would suspect anything."

Ethan felt his stomach turn. He had watched Lily suffer for months. He had held her hand while she vomited. He had carried her tiny body to the bathroom when she was too weak to walk. All of it was caused by this poison. All of it was planned.

"What was the medication?" Ethan asked. His voice was barely a whisper.

"I don't know the exact formula. It was in unmarked vials. They gave me a new batch every week. I injected it into her IV drip. It was designed to mimic the symptoms of a rare blood disorder. The progression was slow. Gradual. It looked completely natural to everyone who examined her."

Ethan closed his eyes. He saw Lily's face. Her sweet smile. Her trusting eyes. She had no idea that the people who were supposed to heal her were slowly killing her.

"Why?" Ethan asked. The word came out broken. "Why would they do this to a child?"

Thompson looked at the floor. His shame was visible on his face. "Because of you. They needed to control you. They knew you were the only threat to their plans. If they could break you, they could keep you hidden forever. They wanted you desperate. They wanted you weak. A desperate man makes mistakes. A desperate man can be manipulated."

Ethan thought about the divorce papers. Sophia's cold eyes. The way she had walked out without looking back. It all made sense now. The Wus had planned everything. They had taken his wife. They had taken his daughter. They had taken everything he loved, piece by piece.

"Sophia," Ethan said. "Was she part of this?"

Thompson shook his head. "I don't know. I was only involved in the medical side. But it would not surprise me. The Wus are very thorough. They would want every angle covered. They would want someone close to you. Someone who could monitor you. Report on you."

Ethan felt his heart crack. He had loved Sophia. He had trusted her. She had been his partner, his best friend, the mother of his child. And all along, she had been a spy. A tool of his enemies.

"There is more," Thompson said. He was talking faster now, desperate to prove his usefulness. "I am not the only doctor they have used. They have done this before. Many times. They target families who threaten their business interests. They make the children sick. Then they offer help in exchange for silence. The families always agree. What choice do they have?"

Ethan leaned closer. His eyes bore into the doctor's. "Give me names. Dates. Everything you know."

Thompson opened a drawer in his desk. His hands were shaking so badly he almost dropped the key. He pulled out a small notebook. The pages were filled with handwriting. Names. Dates. Medications. Test results.

"I kept records," Thompson said. "I knew this day might come. I knew someone would eventually find out. I thought maybe if I had proof, I could bargain for my life."

Ethan took the notebook. He flipped through the pages. There were dozens of entries. Families destroyed. Children poisoned. Lives ruined. The Wus had been running this operation for over a decade. They had killed more people than Ethan could count.

"Is this everything?" Ethan asked.

"No. There is more." Thompson pointed to a locked filing cabinet in the corner. "Inside there are copies of the original medical records. The real ones. Before the poison. The ones that show Lily was perfectly healthy."

Ethan walked to the cabinet. He broke the lock with one sharp twist. Inside were folders for each of the victims. He found Lily's folder. He opened it. There were her original test results. Perfect scores. No sign of illness. A healthy, happy six year old girl.

His hands trembled as he held the folder. This was the proof he needed. This was the weapon he had been searching for.

But he needed more. "The original treatment plan," Ethan said. "The one that would have saved her. Where is it?"

Thompson's face went pale. "That is not here. The Wus took it. They destroyed it. They did not want anyone to know there was a cure."

Ethan slammed his hand on the desk. The sound made Thompson jump. "Then how do I save my daughter?"

"There is a specialist," Thompson said quickly. "A doctor named Sarah Chen. She worked on the original research. She discovered the poison years ago. She tried to expose the Wus. They destroyed her career. They killed her family. She went into hiding. But she knows everything. She is the only one who can help."

Ethan wrote down the name. Sarah Chen. A ghost. A fugitive. A woman who had been running from the Wus for years. She was his only hope.

"The Wu corporate headquarters," Ethan said. "The vault. What is inside?"

Thompson's voice dropped to a whisper. "Everything. Financial records. Confidential documents. Evidence of their crimes. The original medical records for every victim. It is all in there. If you can get inside, you can destroy them completely."

Ethan looked at the system interface hovering in his peripheral vision. The blue screen displayed his current points. Not enough. He would need more. Much more.

"Thank you for your cooperation," Ethan said. His voice was cold again. Empty. "But understand this. If anything happens to my daughter, I will come back. I will find you. I will make you wish you had never been born."

Thompson nodded frantically. "I understand. I will not tell anyone about this conversation. I swear. I am done working for them. I am done."

Ethan walked to the door. He paused with his hand on the handle. "One more thing. Who is the head of this operation? Who ordered all of this?"

Thompson swallowed hard. His face was ghostly pale. "It is Helen Wu. She runs everything. Marcus is just the public face. Helen is the real power. She has been building this empire for decades. She will do anything to protect it."

Ethan nodded. He had suspected as much. Helen Wu. His stepmother. The woman who had married his father and stolen his inheritance. The woman who had killed his mother. Now she was trying to kill his daughter.

He stepped out of the office. The hallway was empty. He walked quickly, keeping his head down. The hospital was quiet at this hour. Most of the patients were asleep. The nurses were at their stations, barely glancing up as he passed.

He reached the stairwell. He took the stairs two at a time. His mind was racing. Sarah Chen. The vault. Helen Wu. Everything was connected. A web of lies and murder stretching back years.

Outside the hospital, the sun was just beginning to rise. The sky was painted in shades of orange and pink. It should have been beautiful. But Ethan could not see the beauty. He could only see the clock ticking in his mind.

The system interface appeared again. New mission. Find Doctor Sarah Chen. She is hiding in a remote village. The Wus are hunting her. They know she is the only one who can expose them. Get to her first. Protect her. Bring her back.

Ethan looked at his points. Still not enough. He needed more missions. More evidence. More proof. He needed to become stronger, faster, more powerful. The Wus had been building their empire for decades. He had only days to tear it down.

But he had something they did not. He had nothing to lose. He had already lost his wife. He had lost his family. He had lost his identity. The only thing left was Lily. And he would die before he let them take her too.

The system spoke again. Its voice was calm. Steady. A mission has been detected. The Wus are hosting a charity gala tomorrow night. All of your enemies will be there. Marcus. Helen. Sophia. This is your chance to get close to them. To gather intelligence. To plant surveillance.

Ethan nodded. The gala. It was a risk. A huge risk. Walking into the lion's den with no backup. No allies. Just his wits and the system.

But that was exactly what he needed to do. He had been hiding for too long. Running for too long. It was time to stop running. It was time to fight.

He looked up at the sky. The sun was fully visible now. A new day had begun. Lily had twelve hours before her next dose of poison. Twelve hours before she got sicker. Twelve hours before he lost another piece of her.

He checked his watch. Then he started walking. He had work to do.

The calm was an illusion. The storm was coming."Sarah," Ethan said. "How much longer until the antidote is ready?"Sarah looked up from her notes. Her face was tired. Her eyes were bloodshot. She had been working nonstop since they arrived. "A few more days. Maybe a week. I need more supplies. The Wu family destroyed most of my equipment. I am working with what I have."Ethan nodded. "I will get you whatever you need. Just tell me."Sarah sighed. "What I need is the original medical records. The ones the Wus have hidden in their vault. Without those, I cannot confirm the exact formula of the poison. I can make a general antidote, but it might not be strong enough. Lily might not su
