After his body was exhausted, Zavier felt relaxed – no, he was a ghost now.

A few minutes ago, his pathetic life finally came to an end and to be honest, he felt relieved that he was no more.

He was just twenty-seven years of age and for once, he no longer had to be a burden of the family.

Born from a mistress, Zavier hated his illegitimacy status to the core. Every time he saw his brothers and younger sister, hatred and envy gnawed on his so much.

He hated how his other siblings were entitled and yet he was only given some money and materialistic things that couldn’t even make him stand out among man.

Who wasn’t ambitious?

Every time, he saw his elder brother, Valen looking so mighty and majestic like his name, all he saw was him bringing Valen down.

So, in his foolishness, after he turned twenty-four, he started showing his fangs, fighting his legitimate siblings left and right.

Like a clown, he made himself a joke but they simply pretended to be blind and that only fueled his bravery or rather foolishness. As a result, he ate the tiger’s gall bladder and did an unforgiveable mistake. He had his youngest sister abducted and that crossed the line.

Zavier found him arrested and it didn’t even take that long. It was as if they were waiting all along for him to mess up.

With so many charges against him, he was sentenced to life in prison and he hated the Rockwell family so much he wished for their downfall every single day.

He was just twenty-five years when all that happened.

Life in prison was very awful and every single day his hatred towards the family that put him in that state only increased. Not even once did he thought of being remorseful. Now that he was thinking about it as he floated as a spirit, Zavier laughed mockingly at himself for being a joke.

No wonder why the Rockwell family members never took him seriously.

Six months into his imprisonment, he was caught in a fight that had nothing to do with him completely. He was stabbed repeatedly by another innate, until now, he still doesn’t understand why the other party would go to such lengths just to end him?

Unfortunately, his miserable life didn’t end there. in fact, in his unconscious state, he blamed Valen for his ruthlessness. If there was someone who would want him dead, it should be him but reality proved to him that he was petty.

He remained comatose for nearly eighteen months and during that period, reality proved to him that things weren’t as bad as he had always thought there were.

His siblings didn’t dislike him just because he was an illegitimate son. His stepmother, the woman who had always acted like she didn’t care much about him was warmhearted. If she wasn’t, she wouldn’t have bothered to bring him to the family and raised him the way she did.

However, he never saw it that way.

Zavier never realized himself that he wasn’t cut out for business but he simply put that hat on his father and elder brothers. He always believed that for the sake of not wanting the family business to land in his hands, they did everything to keep him away. And that only fueled his passion and greediness which resulted in his death.

While lying comatose, Zavier learnt so many things that made him wish he could just be gone and be over with. His siblings always had faith that he would turn back to the right path and see the truth but he was blinded by the hatred.

He listened to villains and got goaded by them into doing evil. He united with the enemies to bring down his own kin and that alone, showed how foolish he was.

Even if he was to work against his brothers, he should have united with one of them rather than sharing the family’s dirty laundry outside.

Anyway, that no longer mattered now.

He messed up already and now he was finally gone. It was too late to regret or change anything.

If he had known that it was that way, he should have dutifully spent the money he was given by his family and lived happily like a prodigal son. After all, it wasn’t like his family was stingy.

As a son who wasn’t entitled to much except money, why should he make himself suffer and not just enjoy?

If there is ever such thing as a second chance, rebirth, reincarnation or transmigration like what he had heard that chatty little sister of his Pearl, always yapped about. He wishes to live a life of luxury and surrounded by women.

He didn’t manage to shed his virginity status in this life that had faded without any achievements. In the next life, he would make sure that he does.

There was nothing wrong with a bit of dreaming, right?

He thought mockingly as he felt his spirit fade into nothingness.

                                                                         ---- ****----

‘Where am I? Is this the underworld?’

Zavier was in a daze as he looked at the bright walls that seemed familiar and yet unfamiliar. It was simply confusing; he didn’t know what was happening.

Could it be that he was going to be judged but that didn’t seem to make sense? He pondered as he turned his head to look around and the more, he does, the more he noticed that he was lying on the bed.

If he was in the underworld, wasn’t he supposed to see the judge or Meng Po for some soup?

There was no way he would be lying in bed, right?

Wait a minute …… bed …. He was lying in bed!

Having that realization dawning on him, Zavier felt an immense pain in his head as if he had been targeted by a severe migraine.

“Ah!!” he groaned in pain; his voice hoarse as he clutched his head.

The moment he heard his voice though, he suddenly froze as another realization dawned on him.

He could talk. He could feel pain.

Wasn’t that what an alive person could do?

He wasn’t dead. So, did that meant that, he, Zavier, has resurrected?

Thinking like that, Zavier sprang up, rising from the bed to sit and began to earnestly look around, trying to find anything that could confirm his suspicions.

The more he looked around the room, the more familiar the room became.

With difficultly, as his body was trembling with numerous emotions, Zavier found his lost voice as he mumbled like a mad man.

“I am reborn! This is my old room …. I am back ….. I have been given a second chance ……” tears streaked down his cheeks as he looked around the bedroom at the Rockwell mansion where everyone lived.

It wasn’t just the happiness of being back to a familiar place but he was overwhelmed with relief.

The moment he started showing his fangs, Zavier left the mansion completely. He couldn’t stand the hypocritical faces of everyone in the Rockwell family. So, he moved into his villa where no one could control him and he had never returned to the mansion, at least to sleep over.

Finding himself back to the time when he could actually be lying in bed like that, only meant one thing for him. He hasn’t messed up that much yet. He could still be saved hut now comes the question as he made way to the bathroom; at which stage and age was he reborn?

I will have a chat with him,” her voice indifferent but in the doctor’s eyes, he could see some warmth in there, completely different from the usual Adira he knows. He readily acknowledged that order. There wasn’t much for him to do now that he had made his diagnosis. It would be better for him to leave and start looking through his books, because if he doesn’t find the cause soon, who knows what this madwoman will do again?“I will be a call way,” he calmly responded to Adira before briefly looking at Zavier and then left the room to the two. With the doctor gone, Adira looked again at Zavier, her expression turning solemn, but that didn’t shake Zavier at all.
