Chapter 5: Pearl’s Fourth Brother

Ring. Ring.

However, before Pearl could answer, her phone started ringing. She looked apologetically at the older sisters who were waiting for an answer before looking at her phone curious who was calling when she was recording.

‘Zavier.’

However, when she saw the caller ID on the screen, her small face lit up making the other guests curious about who was calling and so were the viewers. Especially her fans who had been following her for a long time.

[It can’t be that our bunny is in love, right?]

[That’s impossible, right.]

[She is still young. We don’t want her to fall in love quickly.]

[You guys, what’s wrong with you? Didn’t you catch the caller ID on the screen?]

[We saw it. That should be a guy, right?]

The barrage was busy and Pearl happily swiped the screen to answer and sweetly called, “Brother Zavier!” and everyone could see how happy she looked. Whoever she was talking to was someone she really liked.

Candice brows rose in interest. Pearl was famous and anyone could tell that she was rich but no one really know much about her family. She had kept it hidden but with the show, that would not remain the case.

She couldn’t help but be curious if this brother was a biological one or the boyfriend kind.

Pearl unaware of what others were thinking, she was just happy that her fourth brother finally called her. Among all her brothers, her brother Zavier was the most difficult one to get along with.

Although he was illegitimate, she didn’t know why she liked him more than her other brothers. He just kept drawing her in and to see him calling her on his own accord, she felt that she had lived her twenty-two years of life not in vain.

Because it was a live broadcast and she didn’t excuse herself but answered directly while the cameras were rolling, it also meant that she had given the program consent to broadcast the call. Pearl’s speakers worked perfectly and though not on speaker, the voice of Zavier kinda spread and others heard it.

[Pearl, sorry for not replying earlier. Brother was sleeping. I didn’t cause you any trouble, right?] and the voice was so pleasing to the ears, the viewers went at it again.

Pearl’s eyes brightened as she listened to her brother saying that. It was probably the first time she heard him apologizing though he didn’t do anything wrong. It wasn’t a crime to sleep, right?

“Hehe, no, you didn’t. I hope I didn’t disturb you!”

[Nope, you didn’t. So, you are currently recording now?]

Pearl beamed at hearing that and shyly looked at the cameras before looking at her phone, “Yes. We are currently Live now. Are you seeing me?”

[Haha, how can I see you? Your brother is heading to eat breakfast. Rather than watching you on the screen, how about I see you in person?]

Pearl sprang up to her feet, excitement written all over her face.

“Really? You aren’t tripping me, right?”

[Do I look like I am free to play around?] came the teasing voice and Pearl grinned foolishly, her current demeanor quite unfamiliar to those who knew her.

Candice and Ruth were even more interested in seeing this brother who could make Pearl act so blushingly like that.

“Hehe, then this little sister will definitely join you. You won’t mind being recorded, right?” thinking about the fact that there would be cameras, Pearl started getting nervous as she thought about her brother.

[No big deal. I will send you the location. You come over there. Brother will take you to play today,] he said to her in a teasing tone which made her feel very warm.

Whatever drugs her brother was on, she hoped that he would continue to take them. She was very happy.

“Sure, send the location and I will see what to wear accordingly.”

[Um, gotta go. Am starving!]

“Later!” she said beamingly and ended the call.

After that she looked at the sisters and happily said to them, “I guess I will be playing with my brother today. Later guys, need to change!” without waiting for them to respond, she dashed away, leaving everyone speechless.

The two elder sisters couldn’t help but look at each other and Candice being the sly one, offhandedly said, “hehe, anyone seeing her so happy like that would think that it’s her fiancé!” her words insinuating something and Ruth simply smiled without responding to her.

Candice snorted inwardly but maintained a smile on her face as she added, “I guess, I need to prepare as well. Time doesn’t wait for anyone,” standing to her feet.

With a polite nod at Ruth, she left the living room and moments later, every guest started leaving as well.

While the guests were preparing with the cameras not recording everything since there was some privacy issues, the livestream rooms were rolling with comments, especially Pearl’s room.

[Guys, does anyone have any clue about Pearl’s family?]

[No clue but I guess today we are going to see it.]

[I might have a clue. If it’s really what I think, that brother is her real brother and not the other kind.]

[Oh! Is that so?]

[I am just curious what kind of games siblings play.]

[This is a rich reality show. I guess we will be seeing scenes that would make us die of envy.]

[Hehe, I guess so.]

Time was tickling by and in less than an hour, Pearl appeared looking as cute as ever. Because it was still spring, Pearl wore a pair of casual shorts, a large designer t-shirt and paired it with comfortable sneakers.

Seeing her dressing, the viewers couldn’t help but wonder where she was going to play. Unfortunately, Pearl was determined to keep this secret. They could only continue to watch if they wanted to know more.

Meanwhile, on Zavier’s side, after making the call to Pearl and feeling quite good about himself, he went downstairs to the dining room for his breakfast.

Despite being an illegitimate child, his family had always treated him well which prompted the servants to do the same as well.

Moreover, on this day, after rebirth, whenever the servants saw him, they couldn’t help but be affected by him. After all, after taking the gene potion, his stats had increased.

In this life, he wanted to live up to old age if allowed. He didn’t want to die so young and miserably.

Their attentiveness at breakfast was even topnotch. Zavier enjoyed their service pretty much.

After breakfast, he went back to his room to change and while doing so, his best friend Sebastian suddenly called.

Zavier smiled as he picked up the call. He had been meaning to call Sebastian and see if he was available. Unlike him, Sebastian was slightly fortunate. Born from a legitimate line, he didn’t have much to worry about. As for how the two of them became best friends. Well …. that has something to do with how Zavier when he recently joined the Rockwell family when he was eight years old.

Still introverted and feeling out of place. Despite being a child, he knew his status pretty well. His mother had erred, tricked a married man and got pregnant. Raised him and when he was old enough, she brought him to the Rockwell family and left with a fat check, never looking back.

Being left in the Rockwell family where his presence was like a reminder that his mother truly acted in such a manner and that his presence also meant that his father had cheated on his stepmother. It wasn’t easy to be honest.

Because he was depressed, he was gloomy and kept to himself. As a result, that encouraged some thick-skinned students to bully him. He felt that he deserved it in some sense and just let it happen without reporting it. But one day, Sebastian who was a bully in his own right, saw him getting bullied and intervened.

From there, Sebastian simply forced him to stay by his side. Just like that, they became friends and have been together for fifteen good years.

They were similar in so many ways. They both didn’t have any rights to the family’s business. They could only sit and enjoy dividends, party how they like and live however they like as long as they don’t shame the family.

However, unlike him who did nothing fearing that he might attract his brother’s attention. After all, he didn’t really plan to expose himself and remain a waste in their eyes. Sebastian operated a club which they all liked hanging around in whenever they have time. The club was very lucrative and Sebastian was earning his own money unlike him.

Nonetheless, Zavier wasn’t jealous of Sebastian because of that but sincerely wished for the best.

Their friendship should have remained the same, if only he didn’t listen to the villains, got tempted and ended up on the wrong path.

No matter how many times Sebastian tried to advise him and pull him back, Zavier felt that Sebastian was very jealous of him and didn’t want to see him succeed. As a result, their relationship fell apart. Sebastian was very disappointed in him and even went abroad. He didn’t know if he came to his funeral after his death but he knew one thing for sure. He truly disappointed Sebastian in his previous life.

This time around, he wasn’t going to do the same. Losing such a bosom friend wasn’t worth it.
