The jeers from the crowd filled the hall. The doctor's gaze dripped with ice and condescension.

Lucas could not contain the satisfaction that boiled over through his veins and spilled over.

Cameras flashed as the crowd's mocking laughter only increased.

"Such a disgrace to humanity!"

"He thought he ate! The only thing he gulped was poverty!"

"The looks on his face are just, iconic!" He registered.

Lucas leaned forward with his Villainous smirk still on his face. "Do you have other criminal tactics you would like to use for us since this didn't work?" He inquired.

However, Arthur remained calm.

The resident doctor stepped forward. His face was squeezed with displeasure.

"This is a renowned hospital Arthur!" He held no respect for the man who was standing before him, calling him without any respect or the appropriate title.

"We have people coming in every day to seek medical attention and we cannot have anyone related to you Hurd take up precious space.

You have less than an hour to consider the conditions or we would be forced to throw her out of this facility."

They laughed. Madam Lin's gaze didn't even bulge.

They wanted him to break under the pressure. And find some way to make Emily do the same when she awakes

The Lins were so cruel and didn't deserve mercy, even a single bit.

He just needed to place a call. But before he got his cellphone from his pockets, a junior nurse suddenly rushed right in, whispering into the doctor's ears but loud enough for everyone in the room to hear.

"I was sent from the financial department. They just got a million-dollar deposit from one Mr. Arthur. There's an issue with the terminal and it gave the wrong readings but the transaction was safely processed, sir!" The nurse explained deeply.

Doctor Ken could not hide his rage. Shock ran through the halls leaving ripples on the skin of everyone present.

Even Madam Lin's gaze fell on those words.

"Had Arthur truly deposited a sum of a million dollars for his wife's treatment or was this another scam?" Their minds ran with multiple thoughts, forcing through their head, but for someone who was dressed like he had just been dragged out from a gutter, it was hard to believe.

Lucas's eyes cocked with disdain at the nurse. He scoffed.

"Arthur, able to fund a million dollars? In what delusional world is that! Are you sure you aren't mistaking him for someone else?" His eyes dripped with eyes shot into the nurse's gaze causing her to shiver.

"Yes! I'm very sure of it!" She replied.

The doctor frowned, pushing her aside with one swipe and picking up his cellphone. 

He called the finance department, and the transaction details were sent to him.

The crowd waited and seeing that the doctor's cold mask fell, they all gasped.

The impossible had happened.

A wave of heat washed over Lucas' body. He could not stand it anymore. He stormed at the doctor and took the phone

"Let me see that! This has to be another sort of scam!"

He kept refreshing and refreshing, however, the message didn't twitch even the slightest bit. Lucas scowled.

"Before you eventually spoil the phone's skin with your coarse hands, just so you know, I have already been debited!"

The debit was on full display on his phone.

The crowd, including Madam Lin and Natalie were still awe-struck, processing the thoughts in their head.

Questions heaped on top of questions

For a minute, they all thought of the possibility of Arthur being some hidden heir of a rich family or a powerful company.

Then, Lucas' shriek cuts through their thoughts. "Tell me, where did you steal this from!" His barks vibrated through the hall as he held tightly to Arthur's shirt.

The crowd suddenly snapped. Madam Lin shrieked.

"Haven't you done enough dragging our family in the mud already? Now you want our family to be associated with a common criminal?" She thundered.

"Who didn't I even think about it! How could a peasant of his nature have gotten such an amount if it isn't through dubious means!"

"The length poor people go through just to meet end is just detestable!"

Their insults hauled at Arthur but his gaze didn't shift.

"Does it matter? I already paid. Now can you start the treatment!" He said to the doctor with a cutting gaze.

"Do you think a few million dollars that was never gotten through the right means would make this prestigious hospital flinch?" The doctor asked.

Lucas strolled forward.

"As I earlier said, I owe fifty percent of this hospital. If I say nobody owns this place. If I say nobody moves a finger. Then, nobody will.”
