"The poverty has really gotten into his head and he is beginning to say things!"

Laughter rolls through the hall.

Madam Lin stepped forward, her face stuffed and stale. "If this is you playing dumb, it's not going to work... Sign the divorce right away!"

He ignored them and walked off to the receptionist.

"Get me the head doctor!" He said with an urgent calm.

The Lins paused, the amusement bubbling deep inside as they watched the drama gradually unfold before them.

A few moments later, the resident doctor arrived.

"Mr. Ken, this man intends to pay for his wife's medical fees.. what do you have to say about that?" A smirk drew on Lucas' face.

Doctor Ken's face turned blend. "This is the only hospital that has the facility to take proper care of your wife, sir.

And we've already been instructed that if you don't follow the due protocols, laid down by the Lin's family, nothing can be done about your request!" His eyes rolled with disgust as he spoke.

"So you see Arthur. I own 50% of the shares in this hospital and they are going to listen to anything I say. It's either you sign the divorce papers or be ready to lose her!" Lucas buttressed further, his confidence swelling to almost a burst.

Arthur ignored those words, his gaze still deeply fixed on the resident doctor.

"So you're going to let a patient die? Isn't that against your professional ethics? Do you intend to face legal actions?" 

"Legal actions?" Lucas laughed.

"Can he even afford a lawyer?" Natalie could not hold the disdain in her voice.

"A legal action against the hospital when most people have a family or two here would be a waste, just like yourself so don't even bother!"

"The audacity to even dare to claim that he could sue the hospital!"

"Does he intend to drag a lawyer into the hospital?"

Lucas could easily see the way that the crowd jerked up with responses, hailing insults at Arthur like heavy stones.

It smoothed his heart and stroked his ego. He wanted Harry to experience even more pain than that.

He stepped forward.

"Grandma. Natalie. Why don't we give him a trial? Maybe he might be telling the truth!"

Impatience ravaged through Lady Lin's being but for one of her most potential son-in-laws, she didn't dare to argue. "I don't see why we should waste our Time but if you say so!" She calmed her nerves with each word that she spoke.

"Since you say that you can foot her bills, why don't we allow him to humour us!" He said to the crowd with fake empathy for Arthur.

"Mr. Lucas is so kind!"

"He still dares to give the madman a chance!"

"If I were in his shoes, I would have tossed him off from the gate already, like the garbage that he is!"

They praised Lucas. Arthur's hands clenched tightly with a tickling sense of impatience, he only wanted to see Emily.

"Get me the terminal. I will make the payments right away!" Arthur urged.

Laughter erupted through the crowd like a wave.

"He is really going to attempt to pay a million dollars.

How delusional!"

Lucas nodded and the card terminal was brought over quickly.

Arthur brought out the card that he had been given by Mr. Harry, it drizzled in the light, and for a while, jaw slacked.

Lucas could see the awe in the eyes of the crowd, it was unlike anything that they had seen before.

His body groveled with sneers and disgust.

"A fake card is that? Do you really think that is going to fool us? Such low tactics going around to pretend like what you could never be, rich!" He demised quickly.

"If you really need a fill of what a real card looks like!" He brought out his premier gold card from his pockets, it looked sleek but not the dazzling ripple effects that Arthur's had caused through the crowd.

"This's a real card and not a shiny clown!"

"Thinking that he can fool us!" The crowd quickly snapped out of their stricken awe. "The audacity."

"I can wait to see the looks on his face when the card blazes fail!"

"It's going to be such an epic moment and he would be forced to do nothing else but sign the divorce agreement!"

They laughed and cursed.

The doctor frowned deeply, it was an obvious waste of his time when he should be dealing with other important matters.

He snapped the card out of Arthur's hands with a sneer! "You should thank your stars that Mr. Lucas is even giving you a chance!"

He swiped the card through the terminal. Everyone waited, already expecting a fixed result.

Eyes were constantly glued to the terminal as it read continuously, red lights, green lights.

And then, a loud buzzing sound was heard throughout the hall, coupled with the red blazing light from the payment terminal.

"Payments failed!" The automated bot voice from the terminal sounded with dripping cruelty.
