Chapter 8 Merlin (System 2.0)

A familiar sensation woke me up from my slumber and a familiar holographic screen welcomes me back to hell.

<Time remaining till self-destruction: 12:06 Hrs. or Start of sacrificial ritual, whichever is earlier>

Why did this bastard have to wake me up this early damn it, I would have preferred to die while sleeping or I can ask demon king to send me off without pain, yeah he seemed a reasonable guy he will do that much for me at least, but I have seen in movies that sacrificial rituals related to souls are one of the most painful death experience and I have recently experienced one when that angel merged the system with my soul.

All type of thoughts flooded my mind knowing that after doing all short of ass licking I was still going to die, I thought that I should have died in the god’s trial instead at least I would have received a painless death.

No, I will not accept my death this easily, I will struggle till my last breath and even after I die I will never forgive them, I will hunt them in their dreams they want to devour my soul let them try.

F**k I don’t see any way out of this situation; this fucking system won’t help me and I am just an 1 day old infant baby who can’t even stand and this bastard system is telling me to Fight/Escape the demon king, the hell is wrong with him, is this the way gods want to conquer the planets and win against demon gods, I don’t think so, I think something is wrong, it has something to do with that red system I got.

The only thing I can do right now is think and talk my out of here or die a dog’s death.

I heard a huge blast from outside the 46^th dungeon and silence enveloped my surrounding once again.

“The prisoner from the 100^th dungeon has escaped.”

“The communications are down, we are isolated and being hunted someone physically go and inform his majesty the demon king.”

“All the pathways are sealed the enemy has taken control of the dungeon, we need to hold out till his majesty the demon king arrives.”

“Damn it pick up your weapons all the prisoners are out of their dungeon, someone is releasing all the prisoners subdue them and if they resist kill them.”

Different shouts could be heard coming from outside the 46^th dungeon where I was locked but I was in no condition to run away from here and thus I started to shout and make as much noise I can make hoping that someone may pity me and take me from here.

“Hey system, is emergency teleportation feature is working?” I asked.

<The dungeons are sealed with powerful magic; teleportation cannot be used while inside the dungeon>

Whatever hopes I had, vanished into thin air but the next instance the door of my dungeon was blasted open and a grey wisp floated their midair staring at me with two golden eyes shining brightly in dark and next second it moved toward me activating and destroying every trap in its way.

<System has identified an existence blacklisted by celestial beings>

A series of notification appeared before me and as I read through them my expression darkened, bastard system if you wanted to kill me why even bother waking me up.

My 12:00 Hrs. long life has shortened to mere 10 seconds but I can’t do anything except accepting my death but as I was about to close my eyes the black wisp reached me bursting the bubble and assimilated with my body.

Soon I felt the heating sensation inside my brain as if my body was about to explode and I braced myself and closed my eyes.

I opened half my eyes and looked outside and confirmed that I was alive. Whosever this blacklisted entity was It has just saved my life but I didn’t know it was friend or an enemy.

“Thank you for saving my life.” I said sensing whatever it was; it was still inside me, observing me.

‘You are still not safe child.’ An elderly voice resounded inside my mind and soon the outside of the 46^th dungeon became calm but this calm was different, it was calm before the storm.

‘Is it the demon king, what can we do, please save me I don’t want to die.’ I said to the voice inside my mind but it ignored my pleading and its corporeal black fog surrounded me from head to toe while drawing energy out of my body but I didn’t reject it.

Soon the noise of heavy footsteps was heard in the hallway and the black figure increased her power consumption much faster than before until an option appeared in front of me.

<Would you like to transfer the system’s command to Merlin?>

‘If you want to survive, quickly transfer the command to me kid, the demon king is approaching.’ I pressed yes without asking who merlin was because he said the truth that demon king was approaching and I definitely wanted to survive.

As the countdown started demon king stood at the entrance of 46^th dungeon staring at me with angry expression.

He retrieved a dazzling red sword out of nowhere and slashed in my direction with full power but the barrier endured the attack.

He murmured under his breath and time slowed down around us while his moments became faster than before but the first barrier held strong while I focused solely on the timer.

“What do you think you are doing merlin, do you think this kid will help you complete your quest?” The demon king asked while attacking the first barrier.

“I have not decided on that part yet, I am just freeing an innocent soul and myself from this god forsaken hellhole.” Merlin said to demon king and soon the first barrier broke into pieces.

“You know very well how things are going to end, you don’t have to go through that humiliation once again, as my teacher I was waiting for you to awaken for a long time, why not leave this useless quest and join me, together we can rule this world.” He said his offer looking very tempting to me but he hasn’t expected there to be a 2^nd barrier and this time murmuring under his breath [Hybrid form] his whole body began to change, the scales on his body activated and his size increased to 25 feet and 2 more hands protruded from the sides of his body, while a tail and claws appeared on his hands out of nowhere.

‘This is his hybrid demonic dragon form but don’t worry I have calculated everything.’ Merlin said to me in an assuring tone.

“My goals are much bigger than yours Diablo, I can’t limit myself to one place forever I have to fulfill that person’s last request, who have given me this life, and until I finish my quest I cannot rest.” Merlin said while the demon king kept slashing the barrier relentlessly and soon cracks started appear on the surface of 2^nd barrier which broke in half the time than 1^st barrier.

And what is wrong with this setting, why the time is flowing slowly here, I thought.

“It has been ages since I have heard that name merlin, my new masters has given me a new name, Lucifer, so I would prefer if you call me Lucifer from now on.” He said advancing toward me but he was forced to stop against the last barrier.

“Is that so, then send my regards to your master and tell them I will be meeting them soon.” Merlin said and the time which has slowed down around us caught up, demon king started attacking 3^rd barrier but he has slowed down considerably.

“You have grown weak Diablo.” Merlin said before the timer reached the last digit and we both vanished from the underground dungeon after hearing an ear piercing roar of demon king Diablo/Lucifer.
