Sect Master Wants to Steal Me as His Disciple!

The second examination was supposed to begin immediately. Unfortunately, the Azure Sky Sword Sect had encountered a problem—a very serious problem. Its ancient sword monument had awakened the Supreme Sword Heart for the first time in more than two thousand years. And the person responsible was a sixteen-year-old boy who had nearly been rejected before the examination even began.

The elders gathered around the monument, arguing among themselves.

“His sword comprehension is extraordinary! We must immediately accept him as an inner disciple!”

“An inner disciple? Are you insane? Someone with a Supreme Sword Heart deserves to become a direct disciple!”

“Direct disciple? We should ask the Sect Master to take him personally!”

“You’re all being ridiculous. His cultivation is only at Body Tempering Level Two. His meridians might still be defective!”

“Then we should investigate his condition before making a decision!”

Alexander stood several meters away, listening to the argument. He slowly turned toward Elena. “Are they arguing about me?”

Elena looked at him as though he had asked whether water was wet. “What do you think?”

Alexander considered the question. “Perhaps they are discussing how to compensate me for the inconvenience.”

Elena stared at him. “Compensate you?”

“I’ve been standing here for a long time. My legs are tired.”

“You just awakened a legendary sword heart!”

“That doesn’t make my legs stronger.”

Elena pressed her fingers against her forehead. She had known Alexander for less than an hour, yet she was already beginning to understand why someone might want to hit him. Unfortunately, judging by the way he had defeated a Spirit Core expert, hitting him might be a terrible idea.

Before she could respond, a loud voice interrupted them. “Alexander Blackwood!”

An old man descended from the sky. His gray hair was messy, his robes were loose, and a wine gourd hung from his waist. He landed directly in front of Alexander, looked him up and down, then grabbed the boy’s shoulders.

“Good! Excellent! Wonderful!”

Alexander blinked. “Are you the person responsible for the second examination?”

“No!” The old man shook him excitedly. “I’m Arthur Black, the Sect Master of the Azure Sky Sword Sect!”

The entire examination ground fell silent. The Sect Master? The legendary Arthur Black? The man who had supposedly reached the peak of the Saint Realm decades ago? Why was he shaking a new disciple like a man who had just found a lost treasure?

Alexander stared at him, then sighed. “Ah. You’re the drunkard.”

Arthur froze. The elders froze. Elena froze. Even the disciples standing nearby stopped breathing. Someone had just called the Sect Master a drunkard—and that someone was the newly discovered sword genius.

Arthur slowly released Alexander’s shoulders. “What did you call me?”

Alexander looked at the wine gourd hanging from Arthur’s waist. “An alcoholic?”

The surrounding elders nearly collapsed. One elder hurried forward. “Alexander! Mind your manners!”

Alexander looked confused. “What? He smells like wine.”

Arthur sniffed his sleeve, then nodded. “Fair point.”

The elder stopped. Arthur suddenly burst into laughter. “Hahaha! Interesting! Very interesting!” He slapped Alexander on the shoulder. “Young man, I like you!”

Alexander winced. “Could you stop hitting me? My body is weak.”

Arthur’s smile disappeared. He looked at Alexander carefully, then reached out and placed two fingers against the boy’s wrist. A moment later, his expression changed. “What happened to your meridians?”

Alexander looked at him. “They’re defective.”

Arthur’s eyes narrowed. “No.” He released Alexander’s wrist. “That isn’t the problem.”

Alexander’s expression remained calm, but his heart skipped a beat.

Arthur continued. “Your meridians are sealed. There is a difference.”

The surrounding elders exchanged glances. A sealed meridian? That was completely different from a damaged one. A damaged meridian might never recover. A sealed meridian could potentially be opened.

Arthur stared at Alexander. “Who sealed them?”

Alexander smiled faintly. “If I knew, I would have opened them already.”

That was technically true. He knew that something ancient had sealed his meridians, but he still didn’t know its exact identity.

Arthur studied him for several seconds, then suddenly laughed. “Good!”

Alexander frowned. “What’s good about it?”

“It means you have a chance to become stronger.”

“I was already planning to become stronger.”

Arthur paused, then grinned. “Excellent! I have decided!” He pointed at Alexander. “From today onward, you are my personal disciple!”

The examination ground erupted.

“What?!”

“The Sect Master is accepting a disciple?”

“That’s impossible!”

“How many years has it been since he accepted anyone?”

The elders immediately began protesting. “Lord Sect Master, please reconsider!” “Alexander hasn’t even completed the remaining examinations!” “His cultivation is too low!”

Arthur waved his hand impatiently. “Then let him complete them!” He turned toward Alexander. “Young man, do you want to become my disciple?”

Alexander looked at the old man. He remembered Arthur Black. In his previous life, Arthur had taken him in when everyone else considered him useless. The old man had taught him the fundamentals of swordsmanship. He had given Alexander his first proper sword. He had even beaten him with a wooden stick whenever he became too arrogant. Most importantly, Arthur had died protecting the Azure Sky Sword Sect.

Alexander remembered arriving at the sect too late. He remembered seeing his master’s broken sword lying beneath the ruins. For centuries afterward, he had regretted not being there.

Now the old man was standing in front of him—alive, annoying, and apparently eager to beat him with a wooden stick again.

Alexander lowered his head. “Disciple Alexander greets Master.”

Arthur froze. He had expected the boy to hesitate. Instead, Alexander had accepted immediately. Arthur laughed so loudly that several birds flew away from the nearby trees.

“Good! Good! From today onward, nobody is allowed to bully my disciple!” He turned toward the elders. “Whoever dares to bully him will answer to me!”

The elders nodded helplessly. Then Arthur added another sentence. “Of course, if he causes trouble himself, beat him first and inform me afterward!”

Alexander raised his head. “Master, I would like to withdraw my acceptance.”

Arthur grabbed his shoulders again. “Too late!”

“Can I change masters?”

“No!”

“Can I at least change sects?”

“Absolutely not!”

Alexander sighed. Three hundred years of life, countless battles, and several encounters with gods had taught him many things. Unfortunately, none of them had prepared him for an unreasonable old man. Perhaps his second life would be more difficult than his first.

---

The remaining examinations continued. The second trial tested cultivation. Candidates had to stand before a spiritual pressure formation and endure its force. Those who couldn’t withstand the pressure were eliminated.

When Alexander’s turn arrived, the examiner looked uncomfortable. “Since the Sect Master has accepted you as his personal disciple, you are not required to complete the examination.”

Alexander shook his head. “I want to take it.”

The examiner blinked. “Why?”

Alexander answered seriously. “I want to know how weak I am.”

The examiner didn’t know how to respond. He eventually activated the formation. A wave of spiritual pressure descended upon Alexander. At first, nothing happened. Then the pressure increased—Body Tempering Level Three, Level Four, Level Five. Alexander stood motionless. The formation continued increasing its power—Meridian Opening Level One, Level Two, Level Three. Alexander’s knees began trembling. He frowned. *This body really is weak.*

The pressure increased again to Meridian Opening Level Five. Alexander took a deep breath. His muscles tightened. His vision blurred slightly. Then the formation stopped. The examiner immediately deactivated it. “That’s enough!”

Alexander stepped away, looking disappointed. “Only that much?”

The examiner stared at him. “Only that much?” He nearly shouted. “Most candidates collapse at Meridian Opening Level Two! You endured pressure equivalent to Meridian Opening Level Five!”

Alexander rubbed his neck. “I thought it would be stronger.”

The examiner stared at the sky, wondering whether the heavens had sent him a genius or a lunatic.

Arthur, meanwhile, was laughing so hard that he nearly fell off his chair. “Hahaha! That’s my disciple!”

Alexander looked at him. “Master.”

“What?”

“Can I have some spirit stones?”

Arthur’s laughter stopped. “What?”

“Spirit stones. I need them for cultivation.”

Arthur looked suspicious. “Why?”

“Because cultivation requires resources.”

“I know that!”

“Then can I have some?”

Arthur narrowed his eyes. “How many?”

Alexander thought about the cost of basic cultivation resources. “A thousand low-grade spirit stones should be enough to begin.”

The surrounding elders turned toward him. A thousand? For a new disciple? That was more than some outer disciples earned in an entire year.

Arthur, however, nodded immediately. “Fine!” He tossed Alexander a storage pouch. “Here are two thousand.”

Alexander caught it, eyes lighting up. “Master, you’re a good person.”

Arthur snorted. “Of course I am!”

Alexander bowed. “May you live ten thousand years.”

Arthur smiled proudly. Then Alexander added, “And may you never run out of wine.”

Arthur’s smile vanished. “Get out!”

Alexander walked away happily. He had successfully obtained two thousand spirit stones. His second life was off to an excellent start.

---

That evening, Alexander received his new residence. Unlike ordinary outer disciples, who shared small rooms, he was assigned a courtyard on the lower slopes of Azure Sword Peak. It was simple but spacious—a bedroom, a small training ground, a meditation room, and a garden.

Alexander inspected everything carefully, then nodded. “Acceptable.”

A young servant bowed. “Young Master Alexander, your belongings have been delivered.”

Alexander opened the storage pouch. Inside were two sets of robes, several cultivation manuals, and a wooden sword. He picked up the sword and looked at the servant. “Where can I buy a proper sword?”

The servant hesitated. “Young Master, the sect provides weapons to its disciples. You can visit the Weapon Pavilion tomorrow.”

Alexander nodded. “Good.” He dismissed the servant and entered the meditation room.

The moment he sat down, his expression became serious. The comedy disappeared. The relaxed smile vanished. He closed his eyes and focused on the tiny seed inside his chest—the Origin Sword Seed. Since his reincarnation, it had awakened only a fraction of its power. But now, after the Sword Heart Trial, Alexander could sense it more clearly.

A faint golden light appeared in the darkness of his spiritual sea. Within it was a tiny black sword. The sword was so small that it could fit between two fingers, yet the pressure it emitted was immense. Alexander approached it with his consciousness. “How much power do you still contain?”

The seed remained silent.

Alexander frowned. “Can you hear me?”

Nothing.

He sighed. “Wonderful. Even my own inheritance ignores me.”

He extended his consciousness toward the tiny sword. The moment he touched it—

BOOM!

An enormous amount of information flooded his mind—ancient sword techniques, lost cultivation methods, fragments of memories he had never experienced. And finally, a single line of golden characters appeared.

[Origin Sword Seed]

[Awakening Progress: 0.01%]

[Current Function: Meridians Repair]

[Next Function: Sword Qi Condensation]

[Requirement: Reach Body Tempering Level Nine]

Alexander opened his eyes. A smile appeared on his face. “So that’s how it works.”

The seed wouldn’t immediately return his previous cultivation. Instead, it would unlock abilities as his body reached specific milestones. It was reasonable. His previous cultivation had been destroyed during the final battle. He couldn’t expect a sixteen-year-old body to contain the power of a Transcendent.

But there was another line at the bottom of the message.

[Warning: Excessive awakening may attract the attention of ancient observers.]

Alexander’s smile slowly disappeared. *Ancient observers?* He stared at the words, then laughed softly. “You’re telling me to hide?”

The golden characters flickered.

Alexander leaned back. “Sorry.” He looked toward the moonlit window. “I spent three hundred years hiding from nothing.” His eyes became cold. “If someone is watching, let them watch.”

He closed his eyes and began circulating spiritual energy. For the first time in his second life, he cultivated using a method he had perfected himself. The surrounding spiritual energy gathered around him. His damaged-looking meridians trembled. Then, slowly, the first sealed pathway began to open.

Crack.

A tiny sound echoed inside his body. Alexander’s breathing changed. The Origin Sword Seed released a faint pulse. His cultivation rose—Body Tempering Level Three. The process stopped.

Alexander opened his eyes and clenched his fist. A small smile appeared. “One step at a time.”

He stood and walked toward the courtyard. The moon hung above the mountains. Somewhere in the distance, disciples were still practicing their sword techniques. Alexander picked up his wooden sword and swung it once. Then again. And again.

He would need time. He would need resources. He would need to uncover the secrets of his reincarnation. But none of that mattered tonight. His family was alive. His master was alive. And the woman he had once loved was somewhere in the same sect.

Alexander raised his sword. “This time, I’ll do things differently.”

He swung again. Whoosh. A leaf fell from the tree. Alexander watched it land, then frowned. “…Still a terrible sword.”

From the neighboring courtyard, Arthur’s furious voice suddenly echoed through the night. “IF YOU INSULT THAT SWORD ONE MORE TIME, I'LL MAKE YOU SWING IT TEN THOUSAND TIMES TOMORROW!”

Alexander looked toward the sound, then smiled. “Good night, Master!”

“IT’S NOT NIGHT YET!”

Alexander laughed. For the first time in three hundred years, the sound of his own laughter didn’t remind him of everything he had lost. It reminded him of what he still had.

And for now… that was enough.
