Alexander Blackwood was once the most terrifying swordsman in the Nine Heavens. For three hundred years he walked the path of the sword, defeating geniuses, monsters, sects, and even gods. His blade could sever mountains and cut through space itself—yet it could not save the people he loved. His family was slaughtered. His sister died protecting him. The woman he cherished was taken. Even his sect betrayed him. At the peak of his power he uncovered the truth: an ancient existence had orchestrated every tragedy. He destroyed his enemy… and died. When Alexander opened his eyes, he was sixteen again. His cultivation was gone, but his family lived. Armed with three centuries of knowledge, secret techniques, and memories of the future, he begins cultivating once more—only to find the world has already changed. Enemies who should be dead still live. Treasures appear too early. Ancient forces stir. And someone deliberately sent his soul back through time. This time, Alexander will not merely reclaim the peak. He will protect those he once failed, uncover the truth, and carve his own destiny. If fate dares to repeat his tragedy, he will cut fate itself.

Chapter 1

I Died as the Strongest... Then I Saw My Dead Sister

The sky was bleeding. Crimson clouds stretched across the horizon, lit by explosions that turned the night into a dying sun. Mountains had been reduced to dust, rivers evaporated, and the earth beneath the battlefield lay shattered into cracks that stretched for hundreds of miles.

Above it all stood a lone man.

Alexander Blackwood’s black hair was soaked with blood. His white robe hung in tatters from shoulders to waist, revealing dozens of wounds. Blood dripped from his fingertips and vanished into the wind. Yet he was smiling—not because he was winning, but because he was dying. His left arm was gone. Three swords pierced his chest. His spiritual sea was collapsing, and even his soul was cracked. Still, the sword in his right hand remained steady.

It was an old, simple black blade. No divine runes, no dazzling aura, no ancient inscriptions. Alexander had carried it for more than two hundred years.

Across from him stood an existence that made the world tremble—a figure wrapped in darkness, its face unseen, its body shifting between reality and illusion. Behind it floated countless strange eyes, each representing a world filled with living beings.

“You have reached the end,” the figure said calmly.

Alexander wiped blood from the corner of his mouth. “People have been telling me that for three hundred years.”

The mysterious existence remained silent.

Alexander laughed. “You’re the most boring enemy I’ve ever fought.”

“You have lost.”

“I know.”

“You cannot win.”

“I know.”

“You are dying.”

Alexander looked down at the blood pouring from his wounds and nodded. “I know that too.”

The figure raised one hand. The heavens trembled. “Then why do you continue standing?”

Alexander looked at the sword in his hand. For a moment his smile faded as memories flooded through him—his father, his mother, his little sister Emily, only nine years old when she died. He remembered her tiny hands pushing him into the underground passage, her smile, her final words: “Brother, run.” He remembered running, screaming, returning too late, and holding her cold body.

Then came Elena, the woman he had loved, the woman who had waited thirty years and died because he arrived one step too late. He remembered holding her hand as her life faded and promising her he would become strong enough.

Three hundred years of cultivation. Three hundred years of killing. Three hundred years of chasing strength. He had become the strongest swordsman in the Nine Heavens—challenging emperors, killing gods, entering forbidden realms, breaking ancient inheritances. He had once fought seven Heavenly Emperors at once and survived. People called him the Heavenly Sword, the Black Sword Emperor, the Demon of the Sword, the Sword Saint. But the name he liked most was the simplest: Sword Maniac. Because it was true. He loved the sword. He had spent his entire life chasing the perfect blade.

And now he finally understood.

Alexander opened his eyes, his gaze frighteningly calm. “I continue standing… because I haven’t lost yet.”

He raised his sword.

The mysterious existence stared, then laughed. “You cannot even defeat me.”

Alexander smiled. “I don’t need to.”

The figure’s expression shifted as Alexander slowly raised the blade toward the heavens. His remaining spiritual energy erupted. The entire battlefield fell silent. Even the stars above seemed to freeze. Sword intent spread across the world—one mile, ten, a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand. Every sword in the Nine Heavens began trembling. Ancient artifacts broke free from their owners. Divine weapons cried out. Even blades buried beneath the earth shook.

Far away, an old man opened his eyes. “What…”

In another world, a woman dropped her teacup. “That sword intent…”

In a forgotten forbidden realm, an ancient beast raised its head. “Impossible.”

Alexander’s sword began glowing—not with light, but with darkness that swallowed everything around him. The mysterious existence finally understood.

“You…”

Alexander’s smile widened. “You thought I was trying to kill you. I’ve been trying to cut something else.”

“What?”

He looked toward the sky. “Fate.”

The sword descended.

BOOM!

The Nine Heavens exploded with light. Space shattered. Time twisted. Countless laws collapsed. The mysterious existence screamed as Alexander’s body began disintegrating—flesh turning to particles, bones vanishing, soul shattering. Yet his sword continued its path.

One final thought crossed his mind.

*Emily… I’m sorry. I couldn’t protect you.*

*Elena… I’m sorry I was too late.*

His eyes slowly closed.

*If there is another life… I won’t be late.*

Then everything disappeared.

---

Three hundred years earlier.

Rain fell over the Blackwood Estate. A young boy opened his eyes and stared at the wooden ceiling. For several seconds he did not move. Then—

“Where am I?”

His voice was young. Far too young.

Alexander sat upright at once, eyes widening as he looked down at his hands—small, smooth, free of scars, calluses, or blood. His breathing grew heavy. He jumped from the bed and ran to the mirror. A sixteen-year-old boy stared back: black hair, sharp eyebrows, dark eyes. A familiar face.

He touched his reflection. “No…”

He stepped backward, scanning the room—the furniture, the wooden cabinet, the old training sword beside the bed, the Blackwood family crest carved into the wall. He knew this room. He hadn’t seen it in nearly three hundred years. This was his childhood room, the one he had slept in before everything was taken from him.

A terrifying possibility entered his mind. Alexander rushed to the door and pulled it open.

“Emily!”

His voice echoed through the mansion.

Silence. Then—

“Brother?”

Alexander froze. That voice. His entire body trembled.

Footsteps approached. A young girl appeared at the end of the corridor—long black hair tied back, bright eyes, cheeks slightly flushed from running. She held a basket of fruit.

Alexander stared, lips trembling. “Emily…”

The girl tilted her head. “Why are you shouting my name?”

He couldn’t answer. He walked toward her—one step, two—then suddenly pulled her into his arms. The basket fell. Apples rolled across the floor.

Emily’s eyes widened. “Br-Brother?”

He hugged her tightly. Far tighter than he intended.

“Brother! You’re hurting me!”

Alexander immediately loosened his arms. “I’m sorry.”

Emily rubbed her shoulder and stared at him strangely. “What’s wrong with you today?”

He couldn’t answer. His eyes were red.

She became worried. “Did you have a nightmare?”

Alexander looked at her. She was alive. Actually alive—not a memory, not an illusion, not a soul fragment. Alive. He reached out and touched her face. Warm. Real.

“Brother?”

He suddenly laughed, then laughed harder. “Hahaha…”

Emily stepped backward. “Are you sick?”

Alexander shook his head. “No.”

“Then why are you laughing?”

He wiped his eyes. “Because… you’re here.”

Emily stared. “Of course I’m here.”

Alexander smiled. For the first time in three hundred years, the expression held no hatred, exhaustion, or bloodlust. It was genuine. “I missed you.”

Her expression softened. “You saw me yesterday.”

He nodded. “I know.”

“Then why are you acting like you haven’t seen me in years?”

Alexander looked toward the window. Rain continued falling outside. He knew exactly what day it was. He knew exactly what would happen, who would come, and who would betray them. His smile slowly faded.

Today was the day everything began—the day his family would be destroyed, the day Emily would die, the day his entire life would change.

But not this time.

He turned toward the window, eyes growing cold. “Emily.”

“Yes?”

“Stay inside today.”

She frowned. “Why?”

“Just trust me.”

“But—”

“No matter what happens, don’t leave the mansion.”

Emily stared at her brother. Something about him felt different. He looked like the same Alexander, yet somehow he felt like an entirely different person.

“Brother… are you really okay?”

Alexander smiled. “Never better.”

He walked to the old training sword beside his bed and picked it up. The blade was incredibly light—almost laughably so. He swung it once. Whoosh. His expression grew complicated. “So weak.”

Emily stared. “What?”

Alexander looked at the sword, then at his body, then at the sword again. He sighed. “My body is useless.”

Her face darkened. “Hey! That’s my brother you’re insulting!”

He looked at her. “I’m insulting myself.”

“Oh.” She thought about it. “That’s acceptable.”

Alexander almost laughed. This was Emily. Still the same. Still alive.

He closed his eyes. He could remember every cultivation technique he had ever learned, every sword manual, every battle, every secret realm, every treasure, every opportunity. But his current body was only sixteen. His meridians were weak. His cultivation was almost nonexistent. He couldn’t even release one-thousandth of his former strength.

He didn’t care. He had spent three hundred years climbing from nothing. He could do it again. This time, he knew exactly where to step.

Alexander looked toward the sky, eyes sharp. “Three hundred years,” he whispered. “That’s how long I lived the first time.” His grip tightened around the sword. “This time… I’ll do it properly.”

Outside the mansion, thunder exploded.

Somewhere far away, a black-robed man opened his eyes and looked toward the Blackwood Estate. A strange smile appeared on his face. “The cycle has begun again.”

Alexander suddenly turned his head, eyes narrowing. He felt it—a faint killing intent, so subtle that almost no one at his current level could detect it. But Alexander was not an ordinary sixteen-year-old. He was the man who had once stood at the peak of the Nine Heavens.

He stared into the distance. “So… someone remembers.”

His smile slowly became dangerous.

The rain grew heavier. Alexander lifted the wooden sword onto his shoulder. His first life had been filled with blood. His second life had just begun.

And this time, the strongest Sword Maniac would not follow fate. He would carve his own path—even if he had to cut the heavens apart to do it.
