The next day

Harith had woken up very early and started with the stance right away. It was about five in the morning so everywhere was dark and silent, but this was what Harith preferred. The undisturbed silence gave him the leisure to focus more on the state he attained.

"Now let's see your magic" Harith muttered as he brought out the three emerald eyes he had earned...well he stole one but still most of it was earned. He placed two in his palms and one in front of him and sat on his bed cross legged. He placed his hands on his thighs and joined his fingers together. He then closed his eyes and breathe rhythmically.

Sure this wasn't the position Elder Jang had taught him to stay in. But he had found out that one didn't necessarily have to adopt a particular stance before they could gather energy. So he stayed in a way that he was more comfortable with.

The book he bought earlier had shown him in detail how the emerald eyes could be used for training. Now to understand that one must first know the whats, hows, and whys of training.

Now training didn't just necessarily mean training one's combat prowess, it didn't mean learning fighting moves or spells to become more dominant in battle, training ment improving the core of a person. As one is born into the world, a core is placed in him by the heavens. This core is what allows one to sense the elements of the world and make one his own during his first awakening. Then to improve more in power, one would have to refine this core and add to the natural energy in it.

On how to do this, one's core would need to resonate with the energy of the world to feel it and gather it. Essentially making the energy bend to his will. One could either use this gathered energy to perform spells in that moment, or they would use it to refine their core. A sort of strengthening. And with each strengthening the amount of energy needed to refine the core increases. A portion of the energy that refines the core also bonds and becomes a part of it, growing in size and power till one attained the peak. That was essentially what training was.

During this refinement, a vast amount of the gathered energy is lost during the process and only a small portion bonds with the core of the person, that is where objects like the emerald eyes came into play. The emerald eye acted as a net that would catch some of the energy that was lost in the process and makes it a part of the person's core. That was essentially double the gain for the effort!

But to do all this, he had to first successfully gather energy.

As soon as Harith closed his eyes, he felt a warm breeze pass by. It danced around his body, sort of like a woman would do to her lover to entice him.

Harith enjoyed this wind dance and he felt a special connection with it. Like a lover he had been separated with long ago and they just reunited.

But this changed as the wind suddenly became harsh. He felt like a ship in the middle of the vast ocean on a stormy day as the ravaging wind tried to tear up his sails.

"I must endure" Harith kept his resolve and struggle not to lose this state. After times of trials he knew this was a stage he had to successfully go through. If he could just endure it then he would be able to freely gather energy since his core would become more activated.

Soon that feeling changed and once again he was tossed into a chaotic scenario. Like a man in the middle of the eruption of a volcano. The lava spurted and threatened to hurt his skin.

Fear welled up in Harith's heart but he forged forward. It was all just a illusion made by the world to stop him from using it's precious energy. Well to let it know...he was a thief! A man hungry for power! A hardened criminal that wouldn't hesitate to acquire all the energy in the world and then some more. A measly illusion couldn't stop him!

As Harith strengthened his heart, the ship in the ocean seemed to be giving off a light. A bright red light that illuminated the world in the time of darkness.

As the light shone brighter and brighter the heavens roared and a huge bolt of lightning struck the ship. The ship was instantly set ablaze as its wood and sails gave way to the angry flames.

Soon after, nothing was left of the ship but ashes that floated on the ocean's waters.

*Bang* A loud noise was given off as the lightning returned with a loud roar and struck the ashes once again. As soon as it struck, the ashes combusted and even the waters were set on fire.

The fire grew and took the shape of a massive ship that shone brightly under the Heavens. Reformed and unsinkable, it has been birthed from the ashes of it's former self.

Harith opened his eyes and they had a new feel to it. He stared into deep space as a smile crept up his face.

Raising his left

Fire...fire emerged from his elbow and gradually spread all over his arm. The fire didn't hurt him, it felt like a part of him, like a child.

Harith waved his hand and the travelled, hitting a nearby book and setting it ablaze.

"Ah fuck" Harith immediately jumped and put out the fire immediately. This was one of the history books he had bought from that old man yesterday! He hadn't even started it and it was looking to leave him so soon!

....

The Youth practitioners house

Harith had arrived a bit late, he had just gathered energy so he had gotten caught up in his excitement and tried out numerous things.

Harith looked at the emerald eye in his hand and gripped it tightly. He hoped to see Cho cheong. She was absent yesterday and had missed the chance to get an one of them so he was going to give this one to her.

The students were disordered in a way. Some were attempting elder Jang's Challenge while others sparred. And some just chilled and talked.

"There she his" Harith muttered as he sighted Cho cheong in the crowd. She was sitting all alone reading a book that had a very ancient looking cover.

Harith smiled and walked up to her with the emerald eyes clutched tightly on his hands.

*Bump* Suddenly a frame stepped and blocked his way. Harith looked at what had stopped him from moving and it was a person.

"Oh sorry" Harith apologized and step to the side to continue walking.

The same person followed along and also stepped to the side. Directly opposing Harith.

"What do you want?" Harith frowned. It was very clearly an intentional move by this person to keep him from walking further. And from his approach, he probably wouldn't be too friendly.

"Hehe, Jinwu I heard you won some emerald eyes yesterday" The person spoke. Park Dang ju was one of the unlucky few to have been absent yesterday as he had missed a very good series of events and also missed the chance to easily earn an emerald eye. With a fat body and an appetite that could compete with behemoth, he was all kinds of lazy and didn't even come to the youth house that much. But after hearing of what took place yesterday, of course he was saddened, then he heard that even the good for nothing Jinwu had won an emerald eye too he couldn't just let things rest.

"Yes, I did" Harith answered with a not so good tone.

"Ah good, good. You see I just want to ask you a little teensy tiny bit of favour hehe" Dang ju demonstrated with his hands as he smiled here and there.

"And what might that be?" Harith asked unsure of what to expect.

"Heh, since you won a pair...how would you mind giving me one hmm hmmmm?" Dang ju looked at Harith's clenched fist. He knew a too well what was in there, after all he had seen Harith looking at it earlier.

"No" Harith flatly refused. The fuck was the dude asking him to do? Share his emerald eyes that he had worked so hard for? (He actually didn't work hard but you get the idea) And he just just hand his lazy hand one? Only in free town would that shit happen but not here, especially not with him.

As Harith said he stepped to the side again and moved forward.

"Calm down and think about it wouldn't you" Dang ju once again blocked his path.

"I said no. Please stop following me" Harith asked politely. He wasn't in the mood for this shitshow, he was about to give something to someone he considered a friend and here comes this fat bastard asking him for it.

"c'mon now" Dang ju said as he placed his hand on Harith's shoulder.

Harith instantly felt the pressure from Dang ju's strength. Like a boulder resting on his shoulders. This dude's body wasn't for nothing, he was crazy strong!

Harith hit Dang ju's hand away and looked him dead in the eyes. Dang ju still had the smile on his face but it was a smile that felt threatening.

"I'm not asking for much, I'm I? Just give me only one and you're free to enjoy the rest, it's a win win for the both of us" Dang ju said with a greedy laugh as he rubbed his palms.

"You fat bastard, how's that a win win situation? You want to take something I worked so hard for for free?" Harith shouted as he became more angry.

Dang ju's smile disappeared and he immediately became angered. He punched Harith in the face and held him by the back of the neck. Then he headbutted him to the ground. All in a swift motion.

"Aaahh fuckk" Harith screamed as he held his face. His nose was bleeding, it seemed to have been broken from Dang ju's sheer strength.

Dang ju shook his head and regained his smile. "i'm sorry I lost my composure" He said. Dang ju was a person who couldn't handle insults very well. Especially when one mocked his body, he could lose control of his anger and have an outburst.

Harith's eyes were bloodshot, as he saw the blood in his hands he just got more angry. He was ready to throw hands right then and there. He started gathering energy to his fists when someone interrupted.

"Jinwu?" Cho cheong's soft voice sounded as she rushed to Harith. "Oh my god what happened" She asked as he held him up.

"Dang ju?" Cho cheong followed up as she looked at dang ju. From what she saw he was the only one that could have done that.

"I was just trying to reason with him, I'll take my leave now" Dang ju said with a hurried voice and left. In front of Cho cheong he couldn't do much. He was one of the weakest in the group and Cho cheong was much stronger than him.

"Ay get up...what caused the fight?" Cho cheong asked. She was genuinely worried. Harith wasn't strong enough to defend himself against the others, if they decided to pick on him then he wouldn't be able to do nothing.

"That bastard!" Harith said as he looked at Dang ju's disappearing body with clear hatred. He vowed to take his revenge in that moment. This dude had punched him in the face for little to no reason even when he tried to be calm about it...he wants going to let things go lightly.

The first thing he noticed was the smell. The air in the room stank of blood and death, but it wasn't a sweet scent like that of freshly spilled entrails or a butcher's shop. It smelled more like the sour tang of old vomit mixed with urine, which made him think of his mother's chamber pot after she'd been sick for days on end. He wrinkled his nose at the thought and tried to ignore the odor as best he could, though it didn't do much good. His stomach still growled loudly enough to make him wince."You're awake," said a voice from behind him. "That's a start."He turned around slowly, trying not to look too eager. A man sat against one wall, watching him intently. He had dark hair and eyes, and a scar ran across his face just below his left eye. He wore black leather armor and carried a longsword strapped to his back. His name came to mind almost immediately: Captain Rolfe.Rolfe stood up and walked over to the bedside.
