The morning sun poured through the window as Benjamin sat across the thick grey mat in the centre of his room. The smell of incense lingered in the air. Benjamin was focused on his meditation, calm and composed.

Four loud deliberate knocks echoed through the apartment.

Benjamin was distracted, he glanced at his time. It was too early for a visitor, he knew he wasn’t expecting anyone.

He frowned as he stood up and walked towards the door. The knock became insistent more now.

Just when he opened the door, his gaze fell on four uniformed officers standing at the entrance with their gazes all fixated on Benjamin like predators. The one in the front has a sunglass on, he raised his badge.

“I am Detective Xavier. Are you Benjamin Scott?”

Benjamin’s brow was raised higher than the other. “Yes, I am Benjamin Scott?”

“You are under arrest, step outside. Keep your hand visible.” He commanded.

“What have I done? Who sent you?” Benjamin’s voice was sharp and firm.

Two officers from behind stepped forward with handcuffs; they took a step towards Benjamin. “Don’t try to escape, allow us to do our job. Your hand behind.” One of the officers demanded.

Benjamin shook his head, “You can’t take me anywhere unless you state the reason for my arrest.”

“You are been charged with attempted murder and involvement in illegal substance.”

“Illegal substance? Attempted murder! How? When?” He asked. “Do you have a warrant?”

The police officers came prepared, as he retrieved the arrest warrant from his suit jacket and showed it to Benjamin.

“You must be mistaken, I have never been involved in any illegal business or have any knowledge of what you are talking about.”

Detective Xavier snarled. “You will know when we get to the station.” He then turned to his colleagues. “Arrest him.”

Benjamin was confused; he knew someone had set him up for this, but Who?

The officers twisted his wrist behind him and cuffed him. Leading him out of the building. Neighbours peered through their curtains and doors.

At the station, Benjamin sat across the metal table, with his mind reeling through several thoughts. It’s been an hour and no police officer had come inside the room for a discussion.

His expression hardened, his patience was wearing thin. He had been refused access to his phone or any lawyer.

What are these people planning to do? Do they know who they had in custody?

Suddenly, the door opened. Revealing the chief of police, and two officers from earlier.

“You still haven’t told me what crime I committed to be here.” Benjamin bawled, as his jaw tightened.

“I can see you still have the mouth to speak.” The chief uttered disdainfully. “You should be happy Mr. Davis hadn’t given an order for us to torture you.”

“Mr. Davis? Who could that be? And what business do I have with him?” Benjamin asked in confusion.

“Let me help you refresh your memory,” The chief lips curled into an evil smirk. “You were seen some days ago in a restaurant; you attempted to kill Mr. Davis’s Son, Terry Davis.”

At the mention of the event, Benjamin couldn’t help but chuckle dryly, leaving the chief and the other officers looking at him in bewilderment.

“Do you think it’s funny, huh?” The Chief’s face turned cold.

“Whoever informed you about what happened there made a mistake, Terry was the one who came after myself and Arianna Long.”

“We don’t care what happened; all we care about at the moment is sending you to jail and making sure you remain there for the rest of your life.”

“Do you think you can do that?” Benjamin smiled wryly. “How about we make a bet.”

The chief hand curled into a fist, Benjamin’s audacity was way more than he had seen. He was expecting the young man to apologise, but no. He is bluffing and even wants to make a bet.

“Who do you think you are to make a bet with me. With just the snap of my finger, you will be locked up, and the keys will be flushed away.”

Benjamin’s face flushed in anger, and his smile faded instantly. “You are a corrupt Office, and people like you are the ones who end up being in jail.” His lips paused. “How much were you paid to arrest me and make false accusations.”

The chief hand furiously slammed against the table; the sound echoed through the room, but Benjamin didn’t flinch.

The police chief retrieved his phone and placed it by his ear. He nodded as he listened intently to the caller. He got up from his seat and whispered into the ears of the two officers after he ended the call with the caller.

“Where are you going?” Benjamin asked.

“I am going to make plans to take you to jail, and for your bet, I have accepted it. Let’s see how things go.” He smirked.

“Deal.”

The chief was confused by Benjamin’s confidence; it was obvious he believed someone would come to his rescue.

Just as the chief left, he walked into his office to meet With Mr. Davis and Snake.

“Mr. Davis, we got him and everything is ready.” The chief said firmly.

Mr. Davis nodded thoughtfully; he slid an envelope towards the man. Who couldn’t help but smile in satisfaction?

“I will take it from here,” Mr. Davis stated, his voice was cold and commanding.

The chief smiled, his mission was complete. He stared at the envelope “I will have my men take him to the expected location.”

Meanwhile, outside the office. Benjamin sat by the side with his hand still cuffed and his expression was unreadable.

Nathan Reed and Nora were stepping away from the counter where they came to bail Nora’s brother, Jackson. They both exchanged glances when they spotted Benjamin with his handcuffed.

“Look who we have here. The pathetic loser.” Nathan scoffed, and Nora let out a disgusting laugh. Which got the attention of a few people around.

“What crime have you committed this time? Did you steal from someone because you couldn’t afford to pay your bills?”

“You should get going; this is none of your business,” Benjamin said, his voice laced with anger.

“I can see you still have the mouth to speak; tell me your crime; I might be your ticket out of here.”
