Chapter 9

“Yeah, I am listening.” He replied softly.

“Where did you get the bank card, and how did you learn to fight?” she asked while still keeping her eyes on the road.

Benjamin was caught off guard by her question, he sighed deeply. “Oh! The card. I got it after helping a dying man just the same way I helped your grandfather.” He lied. “my grandfather taught me martial arts.”

“If he accepted a card from someone, why then did he refused taking anything from us.” She thought inwardly.

“Your grandfather must be a great martial artist.” She muttered.

Benjamin nodded.

A few hours ago, she thought he would be spending his time in the hospital but the unexpected happened. He humiliated Snake and his gang, but her mind was restless. She was scared the snake would return to attack Benjamin.

When they arrived at his apartment, the car came to a halt. Benjamin alighted from the car.

“Mr. Scott, I am sorry for what happened. If you need anything you can contact me.” Her voice was smooth but calm.

“Thank you.” He replied smiling.

That night, in the general hospital in Morristown, Mr Davis stormed in with ten hefty men dressed in black; their expressions were stern and crimson, and with a glance at them, one would tremble. Everyone wondered who would have dared to offend Snake and his gang. 

The news about snake’s incident spread throughout the city like wildfire; a lot of people were shocked by the news and were curious to know who the mystery man was and what gave him the guts. Some claimed he had been backed by the elder.

Mr. Davis entered the room to meet his son with a bandage, snake and his gang also had the same bandage. And their faces were red. Mr. Davis turned to the doctor. “How are they?” his voice was firm but dangerous.

The doctor swallowed the lump in his throat, unsure of how to pass the news. He inhaled and exhaled softly. “Its not looking good,” he said, “snake, had a broke arm. Your son had a cut on his head, while the rest of the guys had minor bruises.”

Mr. Davis’s face flushed in rage as he clenched and unclenched his fist. He then turned to face the men. He wondered how one man would do this to snake and the rest. Who truly is that man and where is he from?

Without allowing his father to talk, Terry leaned forward. “Dad, we must take our revenge.”

Snake said with gritted teeth. “Yes, we should tear that jerk apart. He had the guts to humiliate me; I want all his family members to be wiped out of the face of the earth.”

“You should have heard what he said about you, he called me a nobody and the son of a criminal. He even threatened to kill you.” Terry lied; he wanted his father to take quick action against Benjamin. 

Did Mr. Davis believe his son? Did Benjamin say those things?

Mr Davis raised his hand, “Keep it low; we need to make a plan.”

“Say a word, and we are going to tear him into pieces.” One of the snake’s men called Jules said.

“Snake, what do you think.” Mr Davis asked when he noticed snake’s behaviour. 

He had never seen snake in such a state before; his man was still trying to fathom what had happened to him. 

“Mr. Davis, we need to think about the elder. The young man in question seems to have a connection with the elder.”

Mr. Davis scratched his chin and kept quiet as he thought about it. If the man in question is connected with elder Maxwell, it will be difficult to attack him, or it might ruin his relationship with the old man. 

“Dad, are you going to let it slide,” Terry asked.

“Shut up,” he cursed. “This was all your fault; if you had stayed on your lane or had won her over when I demanded, this wouldn’t have happened.”

Terry furrowed furiously. He knew better than to upset his father.  

“We have to make a decision if we must take him down. The elder must not know we are behind this,”

“But, how?”

“Leave that to me, I will handle it.” Mr. Davis replied.

Snake stood up, “Mr. Davis, I can do it. I want to be the one to send that punk to his grave. He humiliated me before a lot of people; I want to kill him so I can hang his head in the centre of the city to regain my reputation.”

Mr Davis understood Snake was furious and would go to any length to do what he wanted. It was obvious, but he was worried about the elder. “We should come up with a better plan if we must take him down.”

Terry and the gang nodded in anticipation, 

“I have a plan,” Snake muttered.

Mr. David raised his brow in curiosity. “What is it?”
